I really needed this video right now! Perfect timing!! Thank you! I’ve just started making polymer clay earrings and I’m trying to get better at my craft!! Thank you for the amazing videos!!
Fimo Professional is the first clay I used, and I love it. The pure colors are great because I can use their color mixing formulas to get the exact colors I want every time. It bakes up great too. It also plays well with other brands of polymer clay. I definitely recommend trying it. I’ve tried the others, but I always end up going back to Fimo Professional. The Fimo leather effects is pretty cool too, but the colors don’t fully blend because of the fibers.
Ambie Nu I follow the package instructions. 230 F for 30 minutes. I keep an oven thermometer in the toaster oven to make sure the temperature stays consistent.
I completely agree with you Beckie! Fimo Professional is hands down the beat clay out there. After 12+ years of working with polymer, I’ve tried them all and the best results come from Fimo Professional!
I use Sculpy 3 for a lot for my jewelry and I have never had an issue with it. If it’s breaking I think it’s because you’re not baking it for long enough at the right temperature.
I was shocked as well i have been using sculpey 3 and thought it was great! However, have no tried souffle so I can't exactly compare. I'll be buying souffle today!
I love Cernit. I have used from all their different lines. The colors are gorgeous. And they have a soft mix that can be added in to make it easier to work.
Thank you for these videos! They’re so helpful! Could you possibly do a durability video and show us how “bendy” and durable earrings should be after baking? I’m constantly have trouble with breaking.
I used to have this problem as well, and I figured out I wasn't baking them long enough. I would suggest baking for 35 + mins. Fimo clay will become very felxable, super scuplty reacts in a different way and I wouldn't recommend using that brand for jewelry. Different brands have a different reaction to baking times and heat just make sure you are baking according to instructions.
Nine month late but I’d also love a video about this. I use Fimo soft since I can’t get my hands on anything else right now, and I find them breaking no matter how long I bake them. I’ve baked for 30 mins as the package says - they break. I bake for 45 minutes - they break. And yes I bake on the right temp, though my oven isn’t very good at keeping the temperature, it diffs 20 C up and down during baking 😕
@@user-yx2cn7dn6c Hey, i use fimo soft and premo to make jewellery they are both amazingly flexible when baked however you need to condition them properly. If you dont condition them well enough the polymers wont bind together and they will just break.
I am a seasoned clay artist i just found your channel, I am very impressed. I have been using Kato for 10 plus years, I started out with it, and i have not used any others... lol i was kinda afraid too try them. Yes I do love the primary color because i don't mix my own colors. Love and light!
I am still using that clay. Thank you so much for the tip because I was starting to think it was me who couldn’t work with polymer clay properly. Or that I needed some type of tip or a machine or something to help condition the clay better.
Thank you so much for the video! I tried Souffle and Kato and I fell in love with Souffle and I totally hate Kato. With the Souffle you don’t need to sand the peaces after baking because they look awesome and also there aren’t bubbles (it was a little bite sticky because the weather in Spain is super hot) with Kato is just the opposite. Bubbles, fingerprints, super hard to extrude... and I tried everything to avoid the bubbles and fingerprints, even working with 1 tile on top to make pressure and cleaning the surface after baking with pure acetone but the result was unsuccessfully! Thanks again! :)
Cernit is very strong even for thin jewelley. I am glad you verified it here since i had only tried fimo from other companies. Best wishes for your work and lots of inspiration. Thank you.
I have used the first 3 she mentioned and never had any of the problems that she talked about. I make tiny food jewelry and no issues. Sculpty 3 glow in dark clay is the most awesome Ive ever seen! I bake at 260 for about 20 min. I dont know why she seems to have issues with it bubbling.
I bought the translucent Sculpy three would I be able to mix it with Sculpy premium or soufflé so it’s not going to waste or is that just going to waste more clay? 😢
Thanks for the video, in my country i only knew the brand fimo and i was about to buy it until i saw the video, i found cernit today and i will try 😊 Thank you
Hi Lisa! Also if you make canes or embroidery looking pieces you will want a firmer clay. You will have less distortion as you reduce the canes and it's easier to make those thin/small pieces in the embroidery pieces. Blessings!
Thank you for these video!! Could you possibly do video and show us how you make including bake and after cuz since I’m try and still break my earring I did more that twice on bake and still is something I missed??
Thanks for such a detailed breakdown of the qualities of these clay choices 😊 I am a Premo girl, your video has given me the inspiration to try souffle! I've found Fimo to be both crumble AND sticky at the same time. How?! Needles to say, no Fimo for me lol I completely agree with your take on Sculpee original. It's like trying to work with frosting! I was wondering, with your tutorials, you mention clay conditioner - a lot. My question is, does it compromise the integrity of the clay itself? My thought is it may weaken it. What are your thoughts on it? Thanks again 🌹
I bought a 50 piece set for amazon before watching this. Literally 2 days before. Lesson learned. I find that when I bake it it’s flexible. I use the sculpey iii but find it brittle. It seems like the recommended bake time on the package is not right bc I read ppl saying they bake for 1:30 and the package says 15 mins per 1/4 inch. Dunno.
I have used the first 3 kinds she has talked about including the kind you mentioned and never had those issues. Once its cooled it is not flexible, it is sturdy. No bubbling. I bake at 260 for about 20 minutes for a whole pan worth. If the pieces are thinner I cut time by few min and if thicker I add 5 min. Never ever had an issue with any of them!

I've just started using clay and did lots of research on baking and whether a clay should be flexible ... apparently they will be flexible because it is a plastic ... however if the oven temperature is right and it is baked long enough with a tile in the oven to stabilize the temperature it should be ok for jewellery. I bake for one hour in a convection oven at 160C and I've had no trouble with discolouring or bubbling even with really cheap clay. I plan to coat my clays in clear two part resin to make it super strong. However, the handling of some of the clay has been super soft and sticky ... no good for canes.

Hi Lisa, this is a really great video :) thank u so much! could you share where can we get white/cream granite patterned coloured polymer clay? I've saw grey granite ones but havent been lucky with cream/white coloured ones :(
I just started making earrings and I just discovered a new trick a few days ago...mix a small amount of gray granite with white clay and you get the white granite ;)
I think as a beginner, very unexprienced sculpter, i have only used fimo as its been scary trying other clays, espcially if my oven starts to play up, or i make a mistake in the sculpting process. I'm embarking to make earrings for friends at christmas, so ive been looking at alternatives mainly for the rteasons below. Howewvr that said, my mate uses fimo, creating very professional looking finhsed pieces with no other glosses or special clays. Fimo Soft- Very good clay and soft but sturdy on the hands, but can be a pain in the oven. Much like cookies, you can only tell if youve baked it enogh after it cools. I find it easy to work with, but if youre switching between colours they can merge easily, the pigments sticklingto your hands. Being a beginner out of all the clays fimo does, this was the easiest to get around with, just becasue of how easy and untempromentle it is. 7/10 for simplistic cartoon work. Fimo Effect- I can't stand this. The range is confusing but iv'e found it a weird bridge betwenen fimo soft and proffesional,so that is a small ease. I find that this is the most tempromental in the oven, and it does not work well with what i do with the proffesional/soft clay. It is good for having accents, but if you do not know what you are doing with this, the finsh can be weird sometimes and looking at it overall, id say that this it is not good if it is used as frequasatly as pure colour sin either the soft/proffersional range. Fimo Professional- This is probably the most balnced of clays fimo produces. It is very hard on the hand and borderline crumbly, sort of how other clays preform whe youve not sealed the bacg up well. The finihs i sgreat howver, wiht the colours getting bewtter come baking. It is very sturdy and does not have a tendency to break, hoevwr it does not blernd as easily. The plus side thopugh is that the pigment only really gets on your fingertips, and it does ot bolnd like glue to your table! - Have fun and lemme know youre opinions :) -- stay awesome as always!
Hi! How about the Fimo Professional brand? Have you tried that one. If yes what do you think ? Im from montreal and it is hard for me to find the souffle clay.. there's more fimo professional.. please let me know if you have any feeebacks on that brand to make earrings. :-) Also another question... To soften more the clay what you think of putting vaseline on it so it makes it easier to work with it? Will the clay looks nice after baking it?

Sarsha Rivers yes, sorry! It’s my terrible editing software. I recently got a new program that will be significantly better!

I love your blazer! Where is it from?
Hello I would love to see a video of how to condition Katopolyclay ... Do you think you could make one?
- Have fun and lemme know youre opinions :)
-- stay awesome as always!
Dang it! I got sculpey 3 🤦🏻♀️
Take it back if you can. It is very easy to break and chip.
Same ):
It is very bad easy to break. I use with it all the Temperature but it same. I never buy it again
If you blend the III with other clays you’ll be just fine.
where can i buy sculpey soufflé online???
And thank you for your videos it helps alot for new beginners like me! 😊🌹
Thanks a lot you really helped me
Hi! I bought Sculpey lll, what can I do? I bought a translucent Premo too, it is okay if I mix both??
yes that would be perfect to make it stronger!
I saw this one girl use crayola air dry clay is that a good clay to make earrings ?
What is the difference between Sculpey Premo the one with the pink label vs the Premo sculpey where the word premo is bigger than the word sculpey?
What about original sculpey? I cant find much on that product and accidentally bought 3lbs lol
