    It’s all go again!! The World Rally Championship is back kicking off what is gonna be a mega year in it’s usual place Rallye Monte Carlo.
    Couple of changes to mention, Ott Tanak has left Hyundai and is now in an M-Sport Ford Puma and Craig Breen is doing a part programme this year with Hyundai sharing a car with Dani Sordo and it’s Sordo in the i20 this weekend.
    No messing about, everyone thrown in at the deep end on Thursday, two night stages. The first taking the crews over the legendary Col Du Turini. Freezing cold conditions didn’t stop the fans and the parties at the top of the mountain as the Rally Cars passed through.
    Leading positions after Friday:
    1. S Ogier / V Landais FRA Toyota GR Yaris 1hr 26min 39.4sec
    2. K Rovanperä / J Halttunen FIN Toyota GR Yaris +36.0sec
    3. T Neuville / M Wydaeghe BEL Hyundai i20 N +37.9sec
    4. O Tänak / M Järveoja EST Ford Puma +54.2sec
    5. E Evans / S Martin GBR Toyota GR Yaris +1min 2.3sec
    6. D Sordo / C Carrera ESP Hyundai i20 N +1min 30.2sec

    Ogier showing that top drivers in WRC are no where near his level.

      In Monte yes that is true but in other rallys others are closer, but i think if he wanted to do full season again he would still be the favorite for the title.

      Depends, in Monte Carlo? Sure.
      In some other rallies with loose surfaces like gravel or snow? He can falter behind. Especially with Rovanpera being the clear fastest last year even when Ogier is there.

    • @DropkickNation
      @DropkickNation Год назад +4

      Depends on the surface. Tarmac makes Ogier and Loeb look like gods.

    • @ulysse21

      @@DropkickNation That's normal. Tarmac has always been the french speciality.

    • @vaenii5056
      @vaenii5056 Год назад +3

      In Monte Carlo? Absolutely.
      However, that is hardly a surprise because that is pretty much his specialty. There has been many great rally drivers and even many champions that have not won in Monte Carlo even once.
      Richard Burns, Colin McRae, Petter Solberg, Juha Kankkunen, Ott Tänak, Timo Salonen, Hannu Mikkola, Stig Blomqvist and so on.

      Likely to do with driver’s incredible skill and experience here at Monte, a great overall car in general, good weather…it’s almost as if more determines a winner than just raw power supplements.

    • @Motod94
      @Motod94 Год назад +3

      In Monte its probably a bit easier to be fast without hybrid than other rallys ,becouse its very tight and low speed.I think one of the drivers said that some stages in Japan were so slow that they almost didnt have benefit of hybrid system, its probably similar in Monte.

      Cars look and sound good and post record times on stages so I don't think so. They have to at least seem to try to be sustainable even though most of WRCs sustainability issues come from the yearly travel and not the competition. I'm sure you'll be wanting these events back when they go full electric and drop all events outside Europe eventually.
