CJ truly is the definition of a franchise QB. Kid has a good heart and loves the sport, I think he's going to age like fine wine in Houston. His play style is so unique that the office can finally start making good drafts and trades to build around him. Houston is finally a team to be watching closely, looking forward to how they perform in the coming years!
I'm a proud Wolverine alum, but I also teach secondary students in LA. There's nothing I've loved more than our Wolverines putting it on ohio the last (now 3) years. Yet when I heard CJ Stroud being interviewed after the draft, the passion, energy and gratitude he showed reminded me of so many young men I've taught. Right then, in spite of my Maize & Blue blood, I became a CJ Stroud fan.
Bro I’m a Texans fan and that’s a wild statement. If anything his overall consistent accuracy is the thing he needs to improve most on. It’s very good for a rookie but still probably the thing he needs to improve the most.
@@811chelseafc idk man. he’s pretty consistently accurate. a lot of his incomplete passes are throw away bc no one is open. if you take those away then he’s gotta be near 70% completions
@@okokokokokokokokkook I'm only partial way through his tape but i gotta say - i'm very worried about him translating. He's basically the best BS artist i've ever seen, and his arm is crazy - but he doesnt go through progressions, he doesn't anticipate, and he misses reads even when he's staring at them - those are the things you need to play in the NFL. Overall i'm very skeptical, but only about 1/3rd of the way through the tape, so my opinion might change
I honestly didn’t expect him to go to the easier stuff and the checkdowns with nfl level of pressure in his face since we couldn’t see it much in college
And even in reps where he does get it, he's super confident stepping up and letting it rip. Which is a good sign to see from young pocket passers who won't shy away from making the major league throws in those situations.
I think most rational Texans fans were fine picking either Young or Stroud with most of us wanting Stroud-The excitement of a new era of Houston football was the main factor to the anticipation.
I said it in his draft videos before he was taken, this dude was the real deal. His footwork is superb.. He literally looks like Joe Montana out there from the waist down.. but with a cannon on his shoulder. His coaching from a very early age is ingrained and it's so natural for him. He's a definite blue chip superstar. I was saying it before the draft, I don't know how anyone in their right mind could have taken Young over this dude, just based off their college film.
whats crazy is the weakness of the team (oline) are getting fixed with guys coming back from injury, and the issues you mentioned about stroud and many of the examples you have are from the first quarter of the season, and hes already taking a lot of those mistakes out. hes throwing the ball away instead of taking sack
Strengths: Efficiency: The quarterback has a respectable completion percentage (63.7%) and an above-average passer rating (100.8). This indicates a level of consistency and effectiveness in their passing game. Big Plays: The quarterback has the ability to make big plays, as evidenced by a high yards per attempt (8.4) and a game with 5 touchdown passes against Tampa Bay. Low Interception Rate: Despite throwing 5 interceptions during the season, the interception rate is relatively low, indicating good decision-making in most games. Weaknesses: Pressure and Sacks: The quarterback has been sacked 26 times, suggesting vulnerability under pressure. Developing a strong pass rush is crucial. Interceptions: While the interception rate is low, there have been games with multiple interceptions, such as the game against Arizona (3 interceptions) and New Orleans (1 interception). Exploiting this vulnerability can be key. Varying Performance: The quarterback's performance has varied from game to game, with some games featuring lower completion percentages and passer ratings. Inconsistent performances can be capitalized upon. Defensive Strategies: Create Pressure: Your defense should focus on generating a consistent pass rush. Employ blitz packages and stunts to disrupt the quarterback's timing. Sacking the quarterback and creating hurried throws can lead to turnovers. Disguised Coverages: Use pre-snap disguises and post-snap rotations to confuse the quarterback. Force him to make decisions under uncertainty, increasing the chances of interceptions. Zone Coverage: Implement effective zone coverages, particularly in games where the quarterback struggled with lower completion percentages. Zone defenses can bait the quarterback into making throws into tight windows. Man-to-Man on Key Targets: Identify the quarterback's favorite targets and use man-to-man coverage with your best defensive backs to take those options away. This can disrupt his rhythm and force him to look for secondary options. Third-Down Defense: Focus on creating third-and-long situations through strong early-down defense. Apply pressure and disguise coverages on third downs to force incompletions or mistakes. Red Zone Defense: Tighten up red zone defense to limit touchdowns. Force field goals in scoring situations, which can make a significant difference in the outcome. Film Study: Invest time in studying game tape to understand the quarterback's tendencies and game situations where he might be vulnerable. Mental Pressure: Apply mental pressure through trash talk and a strong defensive presence. The quarterback's performance can vary under different stress levels. Adaptability: Be prepared to adjust your defensive strategy during the game based on how the quarterback is performing. If he starts making mistakes, capitalize on them. Turnover Focus: Train your defense to focus on creating turnovers, especially interceptions. Ball-hawking skills can be a game-changer. Remember that effective game planning and execution, as well as adapting to in-game situations, are crucial to beating any quarterback. Tailor your defensive strategy to your team's strengths and the specific tendencies of the quarterback you're facing.
But but but, what about Bryce? Are you guys gonna just keep ignoring him? Bryce is a dynamic improvisor, a super S2 processor, a Heisman winner, and the most NFL ready QB in the draft! 😭😭😭
@@AndyTN64Don't judge Bryce so quickly. Panthers first need to surround Young with pro-bowlers and future HOFs at every position, then we'll see if Bryce has what it takes. 🤣😂

Exactly same as Brady just a system guy that's why New England have had continued success since Brady left .. and why Brady struggled so much when he left.. and also why McDaniels was so successful when he left NE because he took that system to LV with an ex New England QB .. LV will definitely match up with NE in the AFC title game this season

Crazy how CJ is playing right now. I hope they continue to improve and not be like the giants.
How dare you compare CJ to Daniel Jones😂
Simple. Draft best OL in round 1 every year for 5 years.
The lions should have gotten him instead of Goff 😔
Give him a receiver first round and some OL and he set
I hope we trade for Saquon Barkley
His combination of elite anticipation and ball placement is instinctual. Cannot be taught.
But Justin fields just needs more time ……

As an Ohio State fan, I must say this was a great, well-thought comment. We’ll get you next year Maize and Blue!
As a Michigan fan, I've been impressed with him since college. Glad he's in Houston now so I can root for him.
Still cannot believe Bryce was seen as the “can’t miss prospect” meanwhile people were questioning CJ’s intelligence.
