Suprised with all the wonderful things Kerry was saying a couple weeks back.
That's exactly what I thought
Right? Hes irrelevant to me now
Tom never told him apparently, assuming he may not be apart of it
took the words rite out my mouth
He was trolling
This is just what bands do now. Retirement never means retirement. It means hiatus.
agreed people don't realize how much of a pain it is to tour and never see family so I can understand as band's get to certain ages they need to chill and take a time off :)
If I was being cynical I would point out that advertising a tour as a "farewell tour" is a good way to sell extra tickets.
I don't think it's going to be a Crue thing
This isn't a new thing...
And that’s a good thing
Tom Araya is a legend... If he wants to relax, and maybe play a couple times a year if he wants to, more power to him. He's EARNED it. Them guys were road warriors for DECADES. It's hard to do 200 dates a year when you're that age.
Danzig said the same thing. Pushing 80 years old, touring is over. Just handful shows here and there. Got another Misfits gig this year! 💀
Totally agree 👍
🤘🏻
@@SerpentStar_ Dude He was born in 23 June 1955. lol So he's 68 not 80. I had to look to confirm as I was like there's no way he's that old yet. lol
C’mon guys. Look at the Rolling Stones. Decades as a band in studio and on the road, Keith Richards is 75 and still going hard. Mick Jagger is 80 and still up on stage movin’ and groovin’
So thankful I got to see them live so many times before Jeff died
I'm glad for you to mate I won't miss riot fest
Slayer needs something like a Vegas residency so we can just go see them whenever we want
Vegas isn’t for me but I’d go for that!
Dave Lombardo is the drummer for slayer and you can't have a reunion without him
ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY! Without Dave, I really don't care.
Bostaph is awesome.
You obviously don't know that history of slayer lol He was out of the band st least once in the 80s and from the early 90s untill early 2000s and he was out of the band for the last several years before the " retirement '.
Fakers! They sold a farewell tour just for money. EVERYTHING was planned from the beginning, it is a vile marketing and manipulation move that Eloy Casagrande does not want to participate in with Sepultura because he knows that is Sepultura's plan: “farewell” tour and after a couple of years return to the road .
It isn't a Slayer reunion without Dave
Dave unfortunately had a falling out with the band. I don't think he would be interested in joining after all the drama
Horrible take, Slayer at this point is Kerry and Tom.
Get over it
Ain't happening my dude.
Paul has been in band as long as Dave was
"Farewell tours" should just be called Hiatus tours.
Agree 100%! Needing a vacation, even an extended one, from touring is completely understandable. That said, a few years ago Keith Richards was asked about retiring and basically said, to do what? Go somewhere and wait for death? He said he never wanted to do anything else but music, doesn’t have any other skill set but music and is still healthy enough to play music…so his “long haul” ends when he does.
Exactly! This is why I didn't feel pressured to see them on their so-called "farewell tour". I knew they'd be back!
@@tonyjones1560 amazing that Keith Richards is still healthy enough to do anything lmao
@@melchior2678 Very true! If there’s such a thing as guardian angels, Keef had a couple of battalions watching over him…

I hope Dave Lombardo Plays with them. But I doubt it after what Kerry King said about him. Which I think it's very sad that Kerry King would say that about someone who started the band with him.
Mate, he left before slayer “retired” he will never come back
They messed with each other for like thirty something years. I can't stand anyone I've known that long never mind playing in a band with them 😅
Dave would make Slayer a headlining arena act. They’re just going to go back to playing clubs unless they decide to co headline. Maybe with this current Pantera or Lamb of God. Who knows
I saw him playing with Testament last year and honestly, he looked like he was having fun.
Part of it was money wasn’t it? I reckon the fans could put up a million in no time
I’ve seen Slayer a few times and I have to say that Gary Holt was a real highlight on the last tour. They had a great sound and his leads were very well mixed and they were outstanding, you could hear every note and he had a great stage presence.
I drove for nearly an hour to get his autograph about two years after Slayer closed up shop. Gary Holt is a cool dude!
Good luck getting tickets for that... Can't wait to see what they're charging... Last time I saw Slayer was in Chicago during their farewell tour. An effing beer was $14 for a tall boy... I'm good thank you. I'm also done paying through the nose to see these shows.
The 350 after fees for four days in Kentucky is totally worth it
@@anthonyfrontczak9687 $350 to see a bunch of bands decades past their prime in Kentucky of all places? It's insanity what people do for live music today.
@Richmondthefish Been to festivals all over the country and Louder than Life in Louisville is hands down the best, and outside Motley Crue all these bands sound great live still and I for one love some of them are still going strong, but to each their own. And BTW single day passes to riot fest usually like 100 bucks.
So don’t drink? You’re paying for a literal poison lol
@@anthonyfrontczak9687 $100 is way to high for any of these days. like i said, people are too used to overpaying for nostalgia acts that they think it's a good deal. modern festivals are the old country buffet of concert experiences.
Dude, been following heavy music through you for many yearsz thank you so much!
This man is an underrated vocalist too, for those that dont know!
Supporting Slayer was the highlight of my time playing music. Absolutely stoked to possibly get the chance to witness them live again! 🤘🏻
We want Dave! We want Dave! We want Dave! 🥁🙌
I do too but it’s gonna be Paul Bostaph.
Yeah it would be much cooler if Lombardo was back too, no disrespect to Bostaph... he's really good too.
Cry to someone else Paul bostaph is amazing
@@paulshutt7787that's a matter of opinion sure he's amazing but Dave kicks his ass playing drums no contest period
Dave Lombardo was/is the most talented member in Slayer as far as his musical ability on his particular instrument. Jeff Hannamen RIP would be next along with Tom. Kerry is a good guitar player but nowhere near the level of a Marty Friedman or a Alex Scolnik. Kerry should have paid Dave more $$.
I'm stoked ! I was 15 and Slayer was the best concert I have ever been to ❤
Definitely once in a lifetime lineup

Tom Araya is the voice and face of Slayer.
Yep, and Kerry is the a$$.
@@Tapp-Mourningwood Kerry needs to stop. Araya and the other members are older and tired. They've paid their dues and became the most (IMO) influential metal band in the last 40 years. They have families and deserve rest. King is a LIFER (as we called them in the military). He can't let go. He needs to seek therapy to help him realize his career has come to an end.
@@Tapp-Mourningwood why all the hate for Kerry? Just because it's trendy lol
@@melchior2678 Because he screwed over Dave Lombardo AND because it's trendy.
@@Tapp-Mourningwood he gave Dave the opportunity to play with Slayer. How is that screwing him?
Last week, another youtube channel ( 'Rocked') made a video about these festivals and mentioned the low ticket sales
Now we have a Slayer reunion, even though its obvious the guys don't like each other.
my guess is festival promoters have offered Slayer a crazy amount of money and this is the result.
I would imagine Tom and Kerry are making 100k at least each show. Not bad to play on stage a combined 3 hours for two shows. Maybe a week of practice if that prior. I will be seeing Kerry open up for Lamb of God and Mastodon. Kerry's bank account will be happy in 2024.
This is how “they” got Motley Crue out of retirement so fast. If my faulty memory serves, they swore they’d never perform publicly as a band again. I actually think they were serious until a nine figure offer (by one account) came in…
I don’t blame them, even though not even John 5 would get me to buy a ticket.
@@tonyjones1560 A "nine figure offer"?!? That's at least $100,000,000. Not worth it. Unless we are talking Zimbabwean dollars instead of U.S. dollars...and even that would be too much.
@@SpiritOfOrange They were offered a massive amount of money to come out of retirement, something very well “north” of $20 million…even if it wasn’t $100 million, and I said that because I recall hearing that. But…I agree with you 1000%. Crue is a shadow of what they were (even with John 5 in the lineup, I have crazy respect for him). I have no desire to see them now.
We love you, guys...And as I said many many many many times, I am totally OK if all of those bands we grew up with, instead of quitting, I would prefer them to do a show 1-2 times per year rather than touring in old age and getting messed up physically. Also, to make a recording even a single, I am more than happy with that.
But definitely, when I was watching all the interviews of Araya, I was like ''Dude, enough! Call it quits! You have respiratory and spine/neck problems. Enough is enough and thank you for everything you have done so far''
I LOVE this! Hoping to see you there Brian!

I'm glad to see them reuniting. But not at this awful festival with all these terrible bands. Tom Morello? Offspring? Sum 41?

Wow this is such great news. Just need to figure out which show to fly out to see them!
I was frontrow to Riot Fest 2019. Will be there again!!!
Im happy for Tom. Gary gets an extra pay check as well. Win win.
Personally I think there are other things going on the background, like the royalties for example. There was some mention by Gary a while back that he wasn't contributing writing to the band because the royalties for Jeff hadn't been worked out entirely (even though they 're now going to his family), and because of that, Gary didn't have a legal leg to stand on as a member of Slayer. So it's likely that they had to "retire" the old lineup of Slayer (with Jeff) so they "reform" with Gary and everything is worked out on paper. I'm sure Tom not wanting to tour as much was part of it, but probably not the entirety of it. Just my two cents, who knows if anything I said is actually true or not.

WOW! absolutely did not see this coming. I've had big regrets for never seeing Slayer play a show. i'll be attending one of these events for SURE. My favorite of the big four. My list goes Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, and Megadeth. all great bands. but SLAYERRRRRR BABYYYYYY! so stoked!
seen your whole list of bands mostly during the clash of the titans tour and seen them in both small arenas and big venues, and both in and out doors, seemed the best and most violent pits were always inside when i seen slayer and that was when jeff was still alive, never seen a show in person since his passing. metallica seen both the black albulm tour and the and justice for all tour, anthax does a real good job live as well, just wish I could of seen other bands like exodus, testament, hatebreed but never got the chance but at least got to see dimebag play with pantera while he was alive outdoors for both ozzfest and the great southern trend kill shows and he was awesome, megadeth heard dave isnt as good now live since his bout with throat cancer but they were a great show too.

Absolutely, I'd happily watch them once a year 😎
That festival is off the charts I really would love to go to that wow!
I don't think Tom ever said he was done with Slayer, he just didn't want to tour constantly. That is fair. He has grandchildren and a big family. I'm honestly not shocked that they are playing a couple shows.
Good, we need more hard rock music. We have been lacking for some time now, props to those who are still offering this genre.
KK is a mouthpiece that speaks faster than he thinks. He’s always been abrasive when speaking about others. Araya owes him nothing. Hanneman was the man!!!
@GuitarDeuce....when Jeff died and Kerry and Tom kick Dave out over money that's when slayer died.
Im low-key happy that Slayer and Pantera are a thing in 2024 loved both of these bands growing up (still do always will) and glad Tom decided to come back and reunite with the band

Tom was just waiting to get rid of Kerry 😂
That’s what George Strait did in country music. He said he retired from touring meaning, no more world tours. He will still play half a dozen shows a year at a stadium.
Fingers crossed that’s what slayer does
