There are actually only 2 types of tiger subspecies the Continental tiger and the sunda tiger. The Continental includes all from main land Asia so the Bengal, Amur, South China, Indochina, malayan and rhe "extinct" Caspian. The sunda includes the Sumatra and the two "extinct" Bali and Javan. I say "extinct becuse the extinct subspecies were fused into the living ones. Just thought it would be nice for you to know.
Actually, you are incorrect, the tiger originated exclusively from Western Asia, therefore, there are officially twelve recognized tiger subspecies, because the tiger originated from western asia, the most basal subspecies of tiger is the †Caspian Tiger (Uncia tigris virgata), then followed by the Bengal Tiger (Uncia tigris tigris) with the most recent split being between two clades, which are the Uncia tigris altaica group (Northern Tigers) that contains the South China Tiger (Uncia tigris amoyensis), the †Wanhsien Tiger (Uncia tigris acutidens), and the Siberian Tiger (Uncia tigris altaica) and the Uncia tigris sondaica group (Southeast Asian Tigers) that contains the Indochinese Tiger (Uncia tigris corbetti), the Malayan Tiger (Uncia tigris jacksoni), the Sumatran Tiger (Uncia tigris sumatrae), the †Ngandong Tiger (Uncia tigris soloensis), the †Javan Tiger (Uncia tigris sondaica), the †Trinil Tiger (Uncia tigris trinilensis), and the †Bali Tiger (Uncia tigris balica), the recently extinct javan tiger is more closely related to the prehistoric trinil and bali tigers than it is to the currently living sumatran tiger, which outlived all other indonesian tiger subspecies, and the indochinese and malayan tigers are both more closely related to the tiger subspecies native to the sunda islands than they are to the other mainland tiger subspecies, the clade that contains the three tiger subspecies native to northern Asia is the sister clade to the one that contains all the tiger subspecies in Southeast Asia.
The Tiger (Uncia tigris) is a large cat native to Asia, it is known for being the largest cat species alive today, it is one of the only two extant species of the genus Uncia, the other is the Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia), the tiger originated from Western Asia and there are twelve recognized subspecies of tiger, because the tiger originated from Western Asia, the most basal known tiger subspecies is the †Caspian Tiger (Uncia tigris virgata), then followed by the Bengal Tiger (Uncia tigris tigris), with the most recent split being between two clades, the Uncia tigris altaica group, known as the North Asian tigers containing three subspecies: the South China Tiger (Uncia tigris amoyensis), the †Wanhsien Tiger (Uncia tigris acutidens), and the Siberian Tiger (Uncia tigris altaica) and the Uncia tigris sondaica group, known as the Southeast Asian tigers containing seven subspecies: the Indochinese Tiger (Uncia tigris corbetti), the Malayan Tiger (Uncia tigris jacksoni), the Sumatran Tiger (Uncia tigris sumatrae), the †Ngandong Tiger (Uncia tigris soloensis), the †Javan Tiger (Uncia tigris sondaica), the †Trinil Tiger (Uncia tigris trinilensis), and the †Bali Tiger (Uncia tigris balica), the Siberian Tiger (Uncia tigris altaica) is known for being the only big cat that is also found in the arctic, where it competes with other polar carnivorans like the White Wolf (Canis albus), the Arctic Fox (Alopex lagopus), the Polar Bear (Thalassarctos) maritimus), the Siberian Weasel (Kolonocus sibiricus), the Stoat (Mustela erminea), the Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis), the Wolverine (Gulo gulo), the Sable or Siberian Marten (Martes zibellina), and the Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx), as well as preying on polar ungulates like the Caribou (Rangifer tarandus) and the Muskox (Ovibos moschatus), it can also prey on pinnipeds like arctic seals, the northern fur seal, the steller's sea lion, and the walrus.
