My daughter started ballet when she was 7 years old. She is a music, drama, and dance teacher now after getting a degree in Theater Arts from Michigan State years ago. To do what Misty did is incredible, Nikki looks at her with awe.

Would love to be able to give this video a million likes!! THANKYOU ARI, for an amazing interview. So little is known about our Ballet world, and yes, "Black Swan" (the film) was really a scourge on that world, followed by so much fake content these days via social media. Misty is absolutely authentic, a singular ballerina and clearly a marvellous person. What most surprised me, was the close-on perfect interview questions that Ari prepared, considering that Ballet is not his comfort area. Shall be sending this link to all the students at my school, for them to be inspired by Misty, both on and off the stage. THANKYOU!!!

What a great interview. Ari did a lot of homework and Misty is a class act. This is a paradigm change for ballet. Like Curry and Obama, Misty has changed the game and with skill, hard work and commitment. They show and deserve respect.

Ari, I watched your whole interview with Misty the ballerina. I loved it. And i love her! I just love ballet! And hope one day I get to see her! I am so impressed you did a spot light on ballet Ari! I was not familiar with her I must confess! Thank you for bringing her to my attention. The last time I went to the ballet it was in Naples to watch the Moscow ballet. You know how world renowned they are. This was like three four years ago. I went by myself dressed to the nines. And I sat by myself. I got last minute tickets at half price. I had a ball all by myself!

I can't imagine being a ballerina, it takes a lot of dedication. It's very punishing on the feet and legs, and they often have bleeding toes, to the point their slippers are soaked in their own blood. A true love for their craft and a heart full of courage!!!!!

The fine arts are a place for the very few,not everybody has the talent to do so,but we all watch the magnificent artists in the theater,and other places they perform,art is a unifier not a place for hatred,all the thugs comments have no place in here,do to the fact they have no idea what this lady is talking about,they should be watching a hunting channel ,she , Misty Copland is today one of the best dancers in the world ! When she said that she was being warned away from certain stages, I thought the people were concerned that the actual physical stage would not be appropriate for dance. She might get hurt on a floor that was not properly suspended.
24:26 - We women of color see this happen time and time again. Our brightly colored hair is ghetto, but on others- it's artistic. Our culture is stolen so successfully that it becomes foreign and we're not invited to participate.
Hoping to see this continue to change. There's room at the table for all of us, regardless of color, gender, age etc.
