  • In this video, we dive into the latest leaks surrounding AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs, based on the Zen 5 architecture. We explore the details of the new models, their specifications, and potential architectural upgrades. Based on the specs which have leaked it arises some concerns I have pertaining to their performance. This could potentially put AMD in an awkward situation given their current offers and their prices. With Computex 2024 just around the corner, anticipation is high for AMD's announcement and the subsequent release of these processors. We'll also discuss the rumored new Ryzen 5000 AM4 processors and the reasoning behind their release. Join me as we analyze the performance expectations, potential pricing, and what this means for gamers and power users alike. I'm really done with the toxic tech industry so I'll keep my AM5 board until it turn to dust. In 5 years or so I'll slot in the biggest and strongest CPU that platform supports but even now the 7800X3D actually hit the performance threshold I wanted, so it's no rush.

@@superscuba73 There's the 79503DX. That's the best of both worlds. For productivity 3D cache isn't always that good since you can't clock these as high as the ones with normal cache memory on die. So a full 3D 16-core doesn't make sense. It would be slower than the 7950X for the tasks ppl. buy those for.

@@onomatopoeia162003 Never happen? Zen6 may (rumoured to) have) more than 8 cores per CCD, 10 or 12 (perhaps even 16). That means 10 or 12 cores as 1 chiplet with a large slab of cache.

Today's CPU's are already more than fast enough for home/personal users, for both gaming & productivity builds. Even GPU's for the most part. So, no rush to upgrade or build new systems IMO if you have any properly-built system from the last 5 years or so. I have both an AMD 3700X 32GB system build from 2019 & an AMD 7900 64GB system build from earlier this year, & even the 2019 system is still doing great today without having been upgraded at all since it was built. My 2024 system was built more out of boredom/fun than any actual need.

Well they have about 50% more throughput for some instructions.
So depending on the workload it might perform anything between the same as the last generation (so 100%) and 150% of the previous generation depending on the workload.
But the average seems to be about 16%

Software still needs to catch up to modern CPU's...but that aint gonna happen, so until a massive brute force IPC, clock and latency gain comes, it's not worth it over Alderlake or X3D parts and above. Heck even 10th gen with some tuning is fantastic.

YES!! a 5950X"3D" PLEASE!!! 🙏🏿😅 I couldn't find a new stock for the original 5950X anymore, so whatever they have left now is probably old stock, which might run out any day, but still why wouldn't they just combine what they have in 5700X3D with another non v-cache CCD for a 59xx'X3D', given that they're willing to package 2 CCDs chips as the alleged '5900XT' anyway, a 59xx'X3D' will indeed be the best of both worlds for AM4 CPUs.

Look, I'm just really happy the CPU market is healthy having AMD/Intel going toe-to-toe _and,_ if the upcoming ARM based CPU which if the leaked benchmark is to be believed, will UPEND the CPU market as both AMD/INTEL will have even more competition (read: price drop!) PLUS, Nvidia is getting into the CPU game! (next year?) IF TRUE, the CPU market will become HYPER COMPETITIVE (if Grace is any indication). Now if ONLY we can say the same for GPU :( Only one player in town...

  • @reptilespantoso

I think AMD is putting a hard cap on the single die ICs (two including the I/O) because ppl. didn't get that the 95 degrees C and full power chips last time, that these have to be tweaked by LOWERING the power (and voltage if you want the best).. Because many people (still) don't get that moar power equals moar speed doesn't always work with this new tech.
Many people still don't get that you can actually run the AM4 faster by undervolting it, cooling it really well, then up the frequency. It's counter-intuitive to them. Does not compute LOL
ALSO... I bet AMD had a long hard look at Intel's CPUs degrading because ppl. used way too much power on them, because of mobo manufacturers putting those values in.
Moar power is moar speed is moar better. And CPUs that die in 2-4 years.
But hey... I'm just speculating here.

I think it's easy to understand why amd is releasing new zen3 CPUs. They need to compete with Intel at the low end and current zen3 CPUs are too close in performance to zen 4

I'm really not concerned. If you think about Ryzen 1000-5000. Things got exciting around the 3000 series. Like then, we'll see better results with whatever AMD decides to call the next generation.

    • @reptilespantoso
      @reptilespantoso 26 дней назад

Yeah. That's how I see it. And what they announced. they said the next gen Zen 6 will be a complete redesign.
These newer 5, 4 even 3 nM tech is completely new to everyone. It seems these ICs don''t handle massive amounts of power well (overvolting). But that's good enough for me. My 7700x runs cool at 70 degrees C maximum, with the same speed as the full power settings right out of the factory. Ppl. think this is a mature product. It's not. It's new stuff. Everyone's finding out what it does. Like Intel users running their 14900 at full blast and then seeing those degrade....

Thew new 5000 CPUS are only for people who are on something older on AM4 platform or they want to get rid of their shitty Intel build. you Game? Best CPU of last gen 5800X3D. Productivity? get the 5900XT. anyone on 3rd gen Ryzen or on 11th Gen and older can upgrade to something meaningful in terms of price. If not then 7000 series is the way to go. too many issues over at Intel and consider their CPUS just lost massive performance. Intel CPU's are just not worth it anymore. The TDP is what people need to pay attention to @ the rated Frequency. How much Watts does an Intel CPU need to get to the same Frequencies? A LOT just to have the CPU degrade even Faster and now Losing performance all together Because its not advised to set the limits to what they advertised. Next Intel CPUS will flop like they have been since 9th Gen.
