Bahawalpur had a short life as a stamp-issuing entity. Their stamps are as beautiful as any you will find, and with less than (inexpensive) issues to collect, makes a great subject for a complete-country collection.

I collect Indian States stamps and fiscal documents. Bahawalpur has produced some beautiful large fiscal notes from back in the 1930s, with the portrait of the last ruler, Sadeq Mohammad Khan V. who was a general in the British Indian Army. Bahalwalpur was also the only Indian princely state to have been located in both India and Pakistan.

Awesome vid, let´s hope that your eye will recover quickly. The printing quality of the Bahawalpur is surprisingly good, I think they were printed in England and/or Switzerland. Keep it up, and see you on the next one. Any updates on your next trip to Europe ? Greets from GER, U.

They were produced by de la Rue in London. I was going to announce this in my next video, but I will tell you now: Yesterday (Jan 20) we received word from the Portugal Embassy, that our D7 residency visa application was approved. We will be flying there on Feb 13. We already have a leased apartment waiting for us.

Hi Ted, interesting topic, the Indian states, but you can find many fakes. When I was in India 20 years ago we wanted to go to Jaiselmar, this is next to Pakistan and this state (North-West). Because of the tensions at that time we were not allowed. With this the nearest place was Mount Abu (fascinatin place) to Bahawalpur. I own from this state only some cheap MNH stamps. The sets are looking nice and I assume, original cancelled stamps are far more seldom than 20 or 50 $ cat worth.
Some years ago I was able to buy a good collection from Travacore with near all main cat numbers. Also very fascinating. I don´t know how it was in the States getting stamps from the Indian states. In Germany it is quite difficult. You can get the more often here and there, but everything what is seldom or average is not easy to find. The good thing is, that there are only a few people, who are interested in them. With this you have no competition, if someone offers them and if you are interested.

Yes, unfortunately, fake cancels are a problem. On HipStamp the availability of these stamps varies. For some there are 100s for sale. For other States, only 4 or 5.
