Linex or raptor coat, I got a "free" topper for my F150 and used Raptercoat. Looks awsome and that stuff is tough!! Speaking of the topper, it has a rack on it. But, if i remove the rack, cut the roof of the topper and the floor of the tent, hard mount the tent so when open, you can stand to change, cook, etc... still fold down the bed to sleep, but slide forward when not sleeping and used as a seat. Totally in the hypothetical realm now, but could this be a less expensive way to get a pop up topper with standing room for the back of a full size? The footprint of this is the same width as the topper and would hang over the cab by only about 4 inches. Yes the topper is higer than the cab, by over 3 inches. Would be so much more cost effective than buying a pop up topper for many thousands of $$$ more. Just the backwoods engineer coming out in me. Knowing what you know by having one, would this seem feasible?
@@danielmoeller8457 Definitely sounds like a really fun project! These new rooftop tents are pretty expensive so if you can find a good deal on one you could go for it. But what you're talking about seems like it would be a more convenient fit for you and less expensive which is always a good mix. But overall it sounds like it'd be a fun thing to build and utilize!
Hi, I have an lr4 with the OEM tracks and cross bars and keep getting conflicting info when I do a search Wether they will hold up a RTT. It seems as if you mounted yours to the OEM bars. Any issues?
Nothing out of the ordinary, my RTT weight(150lbs) is within the limit of the crossbars(165lbs) I've heard of some people exceeding the limit a few pounds but nothing over 10lbs more. Just no hard cornering! 😂

@@EnterTheRover Thank You!! the lr3/lr4 platform is brick on 4 wheels. couldn't take a hard corner even if I wanted to 🤣
😂 true, when I'm driving through some winding roads in the mountains I'm reminded how much of a brick it is, best of luck and have fun with the RTT!
