Hello Jeffrey, Another beatifull piece of music , combined with the fantastic pictures of the dance company, Wonderfull, Thank you very much, again , Kind regards, from the Netherlands William
I've just discovered Romina Basso -what a beautiful voice for baroque music. I believe she comes from Gorizia which is right on the border between Italy and Slovenia.
I love Romina Basso. I'm so happy you've recently discovered her. She is an amazing singer and definitely excels in Baroque literature. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
Just out of curiosity: According to Wikipedia the role of Meleagro was originally played by a soprano castrato. Does this imply that the part was transposed down in modern performances? A shame that there is only one recording of the whole opera.
I looked at the score online, and overall the role of Meleagro is clearly written for soprano. The tessitura in this duet is not quite as high as the role overall, and while Romina Basso sounds sensational here, it seems doubtful that she would be cast to sing the complete role.
This is from one of Handel’s operas. It’s doubtful that this duet has been published separately; however, you can download the full score on IMSLP: imslp.org/wiki/Atalanta,_HWV_35_(Handel,_George_Frideric)

One of my favourite Handel operas. It has more choruses than his other operas. I think there are about five of them. Beautiful duet!
This is a beautiful duet, exquisitely sung by Christiane Karg and Romina Basso.
Sound and visuals appreciated more than you know. Bless you ❤️

Tudo passa de repente... da luz ofuscante da felicidade... ao negrume da escuridão!
