His fathers legacy is undying. I swear The name MARLEY will live on forever. And his collaboration with Nas was a much needed piece in hiphop and reggae. So positive and empowering.
@@dliv33 Bob did not give him the name “JR GONG”. I agree that his father would be very proud of him, his siblings and grandchildren as well. They all have done very well for themselves and have also continued his legacy. The name “JR GONG” was “given” to him when he was a child attending an event for his late father at 56 Hope Rd. He was trying to get through the crowd to enter and the man at the entrance working there had yelled out to the crowd for them to “make way” (allow Damian to get through the crowd). He yelled “Make way for JR GONG, JR GONG come tru (through), so he could enter. Gong was one of Bob Marley’s nicknames, hence the name Jr Gong.
Damn right! And they shouldn't! lol I'm playing but its whatever man. If Nas showed up or Grandmaster Flash, or Rakim came through they would give them mad respect.
He is getting respect because he smells like it....in other words he deserves it,he s manners,he s ethos,he s way of living sets the standards high, its jist simple.u canot talk to a person that respects him self n others in a disrespectful manner...the rappers get that because they allow it,thay treated the way they treat people, ofcourse with exeptions...
distant relative is the best hip hop/reggae album of all time. we need to hear more conscious music from nas and damain. zilla me love yah man keep up the great job.
jahgirl floi its off tha hook man !! anyone who doesent like this album clealy hasnt listened to the lyrics and tha meaning properly man . Its the best ive heard in a long time man .
all damians music is amazing but welcome to jamrock and distant relatives two of the best albums ever forrealz! put on the albums and play from beginning to end...and love it all!!! keep it on replay!!! great beats and rythems..uplifting and feel good...fun..eye opening...spiritual...makes you think...and if ya pay attention...you just might learn something!
Let's be clear: the primary reason that ganja is illegal in Jamaica has to do with the US. Jamaica tried several times to legalize ganja, but the US reminded us that we needed its financial aid and were at their mercy when it comes to trade agreements. It's only because of what has happened in Colorado and Washington State that Jamaica is now "allowed" to make such a move.
Thought this was a great interview, and Damian was given much respect. It was also nice to here some info about the family, about Damian"s life and what he's doing, so overall have to say big up to this broadcast.....
I had to check one of my homeboys who never listened to the Distant Relatives album, but was focused on the album sales. This album is classic and is the perfect marriage between reggae and hip hop with no pretense. Pure genius and TALENT.
Ebro just had to say "Since you Bob Marley's son, I thought you would smell like weed". Bitch, we know who his father is & he don't have to smoke weed if he doesn't want to.
Love these kind of introspective interviews with good laughs and conversation and inspiration. Ebro your perspective is on point and your team is solid. Blessings
Distant Relatives ...How that didn't walk the Grammy boards I just don't know. True classic music. I walked about 25 miles from the West End of London to the south side of London just listening to that album. Midnight to daybreak. True moving music.
Nas x Damien Marley album is underrated because they swayed away from the norm or from what was trending at the time. Not many artists out here have the balls to do things like that. Maybe only Kanye West does & Chance The Rapper. When this album was released i couldn't fuck wit it because it was above me. As i grew up and became more aware of certain things just in life about black history, politics etc. & also appreciated old school music even more. Now i appreciate this album because this is a masterpiece.Simple. It is very authentic. Well structured and has a great theme and style. Equipped wit relevant and meaningful samples. A powerful message also. Touches on status quos and unanswered questions. Very powerful music. This kind of album educates you on music, politics, history and just life as a whole. It expands ur knowledge on music allows you set the bar higher on what is high quality music. Rather than sticking to what mainstream fans like. It challenges that. That is beautiful. I wish artist would do that more nowadays. Challenge my taste for music. Show me that music can get better or make me see ur vision instead of following what is already been done. New artists need to learn how to appreciate music before their time. Don't just be a rapper. Be an artist.
They did not want it to.!!! The powers controlling the Grammies that is. Racist/Satanic cunts. The evidence is overwhelming and proven. America is under satanic control. Check out Bohemian Grove!! (You Tube It)!!
Cause the Grammy's only acknowledge basic white music. Once in a while they award genuine REAL talent, however for the most part, they ignore true authentic ORIGINAL talent. They ignore the people who CREATED the music they like to award themselves with.
The fact that positive artists like Damian Marley are more popular outside of Jamaica than they are in Jamaica is a disgrace. You should be ashamed to say that Alkaline and Popcaan are more popular...more signs that Jamaica is turning into a shithole.
Distant relatives is one of the best album's ever . When u listen to tye meaning and the lyrics of the tracks its of the hook man . Road to zion and patience are fucking deep man !! Real meaning . #REGGAERAP
Also respect for Damian, many artist can never understand or accept any new music even if they don't like it per say, we need more of that in music because then we won't have so many copy cats 👀
damien knew once he said resort he dont know nothing.. Lol he got sold dirt lmao .. you have to go into the bushes to get the good stuff he prolly over paid for some grass lmaaoo
I don't understand why everybody got negative things to say like damn..thats why mankind is in the shape it's in now...its easier to hate then love apparently....
My thing is how dem a go question di mon so much then gwaan like dem can answer di questions themselves with their opinion. If you ask a question let him speak. To me it look like they trying to show their damn intelligence. Great interview other wise. Love Damian badddd UP LIKE7⃣
Damien Marley makes GREAT music, I feel like his music will stand the test of time...
Leonel Ferreira yeah he has alot of classics
His fathers legacy is undying. I swear The name MARLEY will live on forever. And his collaboration with Nas was a much needed piece in hiphop and reggae. So positive and empowering.
I'm so attracted to his honesty. I love his vibe and his mind. What a brilliant legacy.
love Damian he is awoken, his father would be proud.
Tracey more than proud that's why he name him gong jr Bob name him that cause he seen a mini him
being proud of a son is a good thing and of course Bob would feel more.
@@tacsavory Bob would cry tears of joy

proud he doesn't change our accent for American interviews 🇯🇲
B Jay Why would he?
B Jay go to sleep always something negative to say, I read your comment you’re changing the accent yourself
De plus en plus de sagesse sur ton visage.💚💛❤️🍀🇯🇲✌️damian
Damian couldn't speak like a african american if he tried.Dude went to school in jamaica.Your comment is dumb.
Code switching happen naturally sometimes it’s not a indication of authenticity especially when you have people from all over the world in your family
They talk to him with great respect and hold him in high regard. Rappers dont get respect like this
Damn right! And they shouldn't! lol I'm playing but its whatever man. If Nas showed up or Grandmaster Flash, or Rakim came through they would give them mad respect.
rappers aren't usually apart of a music royalty family.
John Khaos alot of rappers dont but they dont get love example Black Thought, Common, etc

One of the key things Damian learned from his father : Be your self.
Stay cool my youth.
Distance Relative's is by far the best, most introspective & enlightened album I've listen to to date
The Marley Dynasty will live forever 🇯🇲 Respect Jr Gong more Love 🇯🇲🆙🇯🇲🙏🏾
I needed this interview. Damian Marley is an epic artist. so humble and knowledgeable.
Love him. He has such a sweet spirit.

I remember when he was still in elementary, he said he doesnt like his dad’s love songs and prefers the “rebel music, with a heavy bassline”
I absolutely love him
knowing how aware Damien is, I feel he was giving a "safe" answer when asked about American politics
felt that too.
His father was almost killed because of Jamaican/ American politics
Because those clowns were trying to get him to bash Trump and he's smart enough to know their game.
I'm 17 years old; and meeting Damian on person is one of my wishes.

Distant Relative is an amazing album
I agree, Big Brother (Ebro). _Distant Relatives_ is so underrated. My favorite ended up being _Count Your Blessings_. Great interview.
confused as to why Distant Relatives didn't win a Grammy ?
forbidden knowledge
They did not want it to.!!! The powers controlling the Grammies that is. Racist/Satanic cunts. The evidence is overwhelming and proven. America is under satanic control. Check out Bohemian Grove!! (You Tube It)!!
Jonathan Hanlan remember grammies for white ppl
Jonathan Hanlan it's because the "Grammy" folks couldn't benefit from the cd .... It was (free) a donation to Africa
Cause the Grammy's only acknowledge basic white music. Once in a while they award genuine REAL talent, however for the most part, they ignore true authentic ORIGINAL talent. They ignore the people who CREATED the music they like to award themselves with.
That nas album was the best album that year. I played that for 2 years straight
