This freakin dude got me into reading fiction. Not only were his books enrapturing but I actually learned stuff.. about Afghanistan, its history and cultural complexities.

Same here. Before his books Afganistán was just a name of a country for me.

It speaks well about both of you if he was the one. His books have both heart and brains. I’d love to know to what books you branched out from his 🥰🤓

I'm glad that he said Maryam, which sticks in his heart. For me, Maryam is deeply rooted into my heart. My tears falls in the book and still it doesn't seems to dry..

this book is a really moving story, just like the title "And the mountains echoed", the stories from these different people let me know that everyone has their own weight, they always have something to chase after, someone chase for love, someone chase for companionship, someone chase for family, even someone chase for a fair world, like that girl whose face was bitten by a dog. THE WORLD DOENST KNOW YOUR INSIDE, OR YOUR HOPE< YOUR DREAM. everyone has their own burden, we can't judge them when we have not been experienced what they have been experienced.

I read this book in the summer of 2017, which is really a soul stirring and beautiful chorus. The silver bell in farmer's depth memory, the only golden feather left, the broken ten leaves, the sunshine when Nabi overturned the painting box, the little master who said goodbye to childhood... There are countless plots that moved me in my sophomore summer vacation until now.I like this way of telling stories from different perspectives, which reminds me of Rashomon.

Mariam is also my favourite character !
The development of her personality and turning into a grown woman who is struggling in her life after she was a young girl makes me feel sad.

The 1st time i read one of his books, i just assumed he wasn't alived 😅😅 because to me, all good novelists were long gone. Such talent, i thought, doesn't exist in our generation 😭😭. I was extremely happy and surprised to found out that he was actually alive .

I bought his book in 2017 when I went to Malaysia. I read some chapters and lost my motivation and interest. But now after watching his interview I am so motivated again and looking forward to reading it again.
