I hope you enjoyed driving my old Caravan! This poor thing has been mostly kept alive out of spite... We've put in a ton of time doing the head gaskets, timing service, replacing a cracked valve, the rear leaf springs and shackle bolts (this is a horrible job), brake lines, and so forth. The goal is to eventually get the rust patch panels for it to fix those holes and give it a harlequin paint job so it looks extra fancy.
It's supposed to be silly. I have a pretty nice 1981 Reliant wagon (shown in the vid actually) that I want to keep nice and normal as well as a 1987 Aries wagon that will get fixed up eventually.
I bought a 1993 Caravan (new) and it was bare bones - just A/C. It had the 2.5 inline 4, and that thing served our family well, especially for a 25 year old father of 2. I can afford a lot more vehicle now, but frankly, it would all be for show - that Caravan did the thing you need - carry people and stuff comfortably. I have very fond memories of it. Thanks for reviewing one.
This one really hits home with me as well. As a kid, my Parents bought a white 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan LE brand new off the lot. It was our first new car. So exciting for us. I got the middle bench and my brother got the rear bench. Tons of room for all of us.
I love the vehicles you review because there genuine. Pretty much all RUclipsrs review perfect vehicles and it’s nice to see a weathered version. Also the variety is great, you already reviewed one so why not another one!
People always want to review perfectly clean cars. But i honestly love these videos with cars that have been beat and show their age. They still show pretty well / and many people can relate to them.
Loved this review. I have a 95 Grand Caravan, green. I use it as a cheap beater for my contracting business. Not the best mpg, but pretty comfortable to drive and can definitely haul a good amount of stuff lol. 179k miles, I plan on driving it until it dies. Got it for 850 bucks. Not a bad deal.
I used to drive these daily for work as a medical courier for years! Solid and spacious. I like the '96 - on versions the best, they were the zippiest. 😁
The ending is perfect, you totally got the meaning of these vans. Good ones are really hard to find, but that makes it so interesting. Thanks, great video👍🏻 Greetings from an owner of too many Chrysler minivans.
When I was 7 years old back in 2000, my friend's mom had a white '95 Grand Caravan Sport with a high rooftop. As a 7 year old, I used to look at that van as if it was a spaceship. I thought the van was pretty cool and I wished my parents had one of those. Here we are 24 years later in 2024. I'm 31 now and I'm pretty sure that van is long gone.
I still have and drive a 1993 Dodge Caravan ES with Chrysler 3.3L V6 (with the timing chain!). Zero rust, but the hood and roof essentially have no paint left (down to the gray primer!) It has been through three A604 transmissions, but other than that, runs great after 439,000. The ES has the crazy and complex Bendix 10 ABS brake system, which can be troublesome when it wants to be, with brake boost dropout being random. The overhead controls for the rear side 'vent' windows are a nice feature for air flow. It's a really nice vehicle to drive, with nice seating position and good visibility.
I know I'm late to the party but I gotta say, everything you said regarding nostalgic vans and memories is what I experienced growing up in a 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager, the only new car my family every bought (everything before and after has been used, even these days). Following that van was a 2001 Honda Odyssey that we got around 2006 or 7 I believe... Good memories despite the breakdowns! That Plymouth tore through a transmission and our Honda was souped up to tow a small camper trailer but after 8 years or so of that its radiator blew. We only held onto that for a few months after the repair.
You review anything, and everything. I watch reviews on anything and everything. Secondly, I also live in Oregon. I just might be coming into some interesting vehicles. Maybe we will cross paths. I already own an 02 Spruce Green Crown Victoria LX HPP P74, and a 00 Chevy CK/3500 2wd with the 5.7. both pretty rare vehicles. Getting ready to dump some money into both while keeping them mostly stock.
Someone wastes money on 3 transmissions in this rusting hulk of metal box!? Why? I mean buy a used Toyota or Honda. The rust seems to be the only thing holding it together. wow .
Hello from Thailand! I went to school in the US in the late 90’s - early 2000’s and when I got to grad school I had the chance to buy a car. It was 2003, and I got myself a red 1995 Dodge Caravan. Really great memories taking classmates and fellow Thai students on supermarket trips and long road trips.
Oh yeah around here in Massachusetts where we live we used to see a lot of caravans and crown VICS back in the 90s and 2000s in fact when I think of cars in the big city such as on the East Coast such as Boston or New York first things that come to mind are for Crown, Victoria Mercury, grand Marquis Dodge Caravan. Also when I think of taxi cabs the first two cars that come to mine when I think of taxis or Ford crown, Victoria Dodge Caravan.
The caravan takes me back to my early days in life. My parents had a red Dodge caravan back in the late 80s. Not sure why but my parents only had the van for less than 10 years before my mom got her 94 Honda Accord
That was the first vehicle my family owned and I have many a fond memory of my Mum and my Dad driving me and my sister around in our Burgundy coloured one.
This one has a back up beeper on it, so which means it was possibly a taxi or did some transportation duties it was possibly a shuttle because whenever I hear back up beepers on those types of cars, I think of them as taxis or shuttles or school buses
I had a 93 Grand Voyager SE...same blue interior.....slight change to instrument panel from 93 to 94. I think I had the 3.0 engine....I also had to replace the transmission
Very often the solenoid packs would go and caused the transmission to go into limp mode. People would think the whole transmission is shot but it was just a matter of changing the solenoid pack
I had this van in highschool in 2008 it was some kind of higher trim (not sure what it was) but it was white with stripes on the sides and the ENTIRE INTERIOR (every inch) was this bright red color. it got soo rusty so fast you could tap the frame with a hammer and a ton of rust would drop off.
Rust adds charm and character! Im use to it after owning 16 Alfa Romeo's! My sister had an AWD version short wheel base, Chrysler luxury at it's finest!
Never drove one of these gen2 minivans I did drive a gen1 '86 Caravan. Quite unreliable but at the same time very versatile hampered only by the lack of a sliding door on the left side and seats that were difficult to remove. Would I drive another? In a heartbeat.
Find a mercury villager nautica or north face avalanche to review. These mopar from the 90s were everywhere I think I might’ve been in everyone n my dad passed me down a 3000 gt which drained my wallet n I had to junk it .
I have a 1995 chrysler voyager mini-van. She has the longer wheel base tinted windows. Iam sure she was top of the line back in 1995. Have to re-build the motor as she has a dead cylinder. It will be her fourth engine. She only has one rust spot right behind her sliding door.
Dodge caravans Chrysler, Town & Country Ford crown, victorious mercury. Grand Marquis and Cadillac Deville really scratch at that nostalgic itch in my brain.
Hi I just bought a 1994 dodge caravan and in the center console on the roof where the lights are there are two switches that say left vent and right vent do you know where the vents are they control I see you mentioned them in your video just not what vents they go to
i'm just watching the TOM CRUISE'S movie "War of Worlds" and he drives a CHRYSLER or a PLYMOUTH VOYAGER... and i see that has the THIRD ROW ROLLING DOWN WINDOWS ... ¿¿ does the CARAVAN or the VOYAGER comes with that feature ???? ¿¿¿ or is just a movie made tune minivan ??? or did you know if it's possible to make that conversion ???
@@chadplow824 MOVIE TUNE ... yes ... i was thinking about that ... even i watch a MINTY COMEDIC ARTS video review about WAR OF THE WORLDS ... and can be seen at close out of STEVEN SPIELBERG seat on the back of this plymouth in the THIR ROUND SEAT and the third round windows is clearly down hehe... even in the movie itself the camera goes thru the car by that windows... CHECK IT OUT ...

Have fun with this thing. It's unique enough as is being so old. Most dodges of this era are long gone
I prefer a simple two-tone paint job, but whatever you want works for you, I guess. Whichever way it goes, we'd like to see it when you're done.
It's supposed to be silly. I have a pretty nice 1981 Reliant wagon (shown in the vid actually) that I want to keep nice and normal as well as a 1987 Aries wagon that will get fixed up eventually.

Never let her go! May she be a proud survivor 👍🇦🇷

My older brother used to drive one of those for his job (a true work truck). It had about twice the miles on it & it never let him down!
I remember seeing this at the cruise earlier this year, I love seeing vehicles like this still being used like everyday cars.
The ending is perfect, you totally got the meaning of these vans. Good ones are really hard to find, but that makes it so interesting.
Thanks, great video👍🏻
Greetings from an owner of too many Chrysler minivans.
i miss seeing those around.

Hope you do a review on the formerly ubiquitous Chevy Lumina van too.. my friend called it her 'space shuttle'.

I had no idea the junkyard started to submit cars for review
That just looks like your average 15 year old Rust Belt car to me
Where else can you find these? I'm glad they're being preserved in video form before they're all gone.
This is why I enjoy this channel. You review regular ass everyday cars. I’m tired of seeing the latest or greatest cars.
I love these... They are the most hated and loved vans of that style
You review anything, and everything. I watch reviews on anything and everything. Secondly, I also live in Oregon. I just might be coming into some interesting vehicles. Maybe we will cross paths. I enjoy the heck out of your videos. You have such a great time getting to know all these aging beauties, and it shows. Happy motoring!

Thanks for covering a car I NEVER thought I would see a review of! :^D Seriously though! Great video! thanks Zach!
Had a cv of the same year. Best car I have ever owned, driven, and ridden in, based on personal preferences.
I added it to it for maximum safety.
I had a 93 Grand Voyager SE...same blue interior.....slight change to instrument panel from 93 to 94. I think I had the 3.0 engine....I also had to replace the transmission
I love those striped ES seats. They remind me of my grandma's '91 Dodge Spirit ES. Fantastic car until the transmission went.
Lee Iacocca who came out with the minivan 40 years ago, retired from Chrysler in 1992
Having seen this car in person it is a sight to behold
Very often the solenoid packs would go and caused the transmission to go into limp mode. People would think the whole transmission is shot but it was just a matter of changing the solenoid pack
Haha yeah, I remember these things. Especially the time I LIVED in one DOWN BY the RIVER

Love these. I got my driver’s license in a 90 Plymouth Voyager.
You may not see those minivans anymore in the US, but in Mexico you still see them roaming around.
Why is there an O/D off button when there is a “3” on the PRNDL?
I was installing Windows 95 on my Packerd Bell computer when these were roaming the streets. She ruff but a survivor
Rust adds charm and character! Im use to it after owning 16 Alfa Romeo's! My sister had an AWD version short wheel base, Chrysler luxury at it's finest!
I always loved these vans. If I could go back in time I’d buy a 95 and then next year buy a 96 and have both.
Collectors classic. Sport Edition. Gently used. Clean Carfax. $12,000 firm.
I know what I have. lol
Its rough so people leave it alone. Gotta love them beater vans.
The bottom of the sliding door... wow.
1junk!!!

Hi Zack! Love your content.
Those cruise control buttons look very similar to Ford buttons from the same era. I wonder if they are the same
It looks like the final year for THAT van.

It seems no brand is immune to awful white paint that flakes off every time you sneeze.
Makes me want to buy one
got to say, probably what I have seen, this is an accurate rep. of what some of them visually look like now, minus the lack of paint.
Man only if I got my rear brakes fixed I’d love for you to review my 94 awd tnc
Muy profesionales tus vídeos amigo te felicito ojalá pudiera estar cerca para darte un abrazo saludos
My aunt used to have one . 3.0 liters I can’t remember what color of interior .
This thing makes my 1988 Lincoln town car with patina look mint well it is mint anyway🤣

Those are for the 3rd row windows. They "vent" or pop open and shut. The motors on mine burnt out so they're manual now.
Apart from a refresh (front end, rear end, interior trim) I’d call this the 1st gen. The body is essentially the same.
i have one here in spain, in better state. My wife love to drive. Is one of my collcetions cars.
That warm fuzzy feeling of junk
Somehow it feels like home to me too
too busy to vacuum at least? gonna make the video clean literally AND figuratively Zack
I spent many times trapped in a locking child seat in the back of one of these. 😅❤
We had one when I was a kid it was blue
I like minivans, I miss my 2004 Honda Odyssey.
The license plate is more expensive than the van
When this generation came out in 1991, Chrysler had a very unreliable tranmission

Movie tune. It’s a Plymouth, and no they didn’t roll down. Pop-out vent only.

It’s got antique vehicle plates. That’s hard to believe.
25+ years old!
Mitsubishi made the Dodge/Plymouth Colt for Chrysler. It was a Mitsubishi Mirage
Had one
It made me money moving people or furniture
I called these nostalgia cars
Nice close too! :^)
Those are ES seats, not SE seats!
....as he said in the video.
Yep, I swapped them out because it was missing the rear seats and the driver seat was broken when I got it.
The seats actually work in this one, which is a good thing. It doesn't look like it's from a different car.
Hooooo! I have the same tires on mine ! : D Haha
i love it
I love this ratty look : )
Malcolm in the Middle ahh car 🤣
