Sorry you're under the weather Stian and hope you get feeling better soon. However, you're malady has not affected you're sense of humor. Great restoration Stian and again your history lessons in your videos are great. I'll take my shoes off before watching your next video. Cheers from this old retired coot living the dream in Tennessee. And yes, I get grumpier the older I get as well.
What a fantastic looking piece, nice to see the casebook with Rolex written on it. Just bought my first Tudor BB and love the fact it looks vintage. I own a seamster and would love to give it a full service like this but needs a new dial due to damage and the movement would need replating rose gold on the bridge.I even wondered about sending it to Omega in Switzerland for full vintage service.
Must be a Dutch watch, Voor Altijd means Forever. A beautiful wedding present or so? This dial is one of the most simple but beautiful ones I’ve ever seen.
Beautiful result!! Thanks for the video and history lesson. I have a Vulcain day/date with an AS 1902/3 movement and it was very easy to repair and service. I agree with your opinion of Rolex and I think most you see on people’s wrists are probably fake anyway. Thanks for posting Stian!!
It's a really beautiful watch! People who argue over which watch company is "better" or if one is a "poor man's Rolex" and what not are very simple/close-minded people, it's sad to hear that that's the level of thought of some people. Every watch has its beauty and place. Besides, Rolex is on the low end of high-end watches, so if you are one of those who feel the need to compensate for their low self-esteem by displaying expensive stuff, then perhaps a Rolex is not the right tool. I mean, it isn't really that expensive, it costs as much as a really cheap car. But I guess Rolex's brand standing can be attributed to their highly successful marketing.
You sound much better, Stian, hopefully you're well on the way to a full recovery. Another masterful restoration, although I would have liked to have seen the pneumatic watchmaker's hammer that you used to remove the pendant tube. 😊 It's interesting to see how much variation in movements there were before the ETA 2824 design became the industry standard for Swiss movements. I like how they designed the automatic module. It is so small and simple and is tucked away off center next to the crown wheel. I guess that was to reduce the thickness of the movement. Really looking forward to seeing you work on the JLC.
Beautiful watch and restoration Stian. Great to hear Stian and Barry back in tune together. Nothing to worry about with being second by a second or two. And no trouble in paradise with those ongoing cost savings. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
It turned out beautifully. Its such a simple classic design that (in that condition) you could easily see as a new offering too. Glad you're on the mend, I hope the family is well. Jory is one of the few watch review channels I subscribe to too.
With the mention you had regarding the price on pegwood contra cleaningsolution you should have been from Sunnmøre not from Østlandet ;) nice job on that watch.
This is a refrence Ihave been looking to obtain for quite some time so it's cool to me that you featured one on the channel. Many other channels out there doing these types of videos but I enjoy yours the most. Hate we missed the fixes you had to do on this watch as I think those when you show them really spotlight your abilities and skill in your profession. Thank you as well for the voice over. Glad your feeling better and sounding good as ever. Appericiate what you do for us! Dave
Stian, you said right at the end the watch now looks spectacular, I could not agree more. All your restoration videos and results are good, but this one is up there as one of your best. Please keep it up 😀
What can one say when one does such a Fabulous restoration on a classic and beautiful Tudor DD. As usual Stian, you've shown exemplary skills and patience in your restorations and filming of them. I'm a big fan of Tudor tho only having a Tudor Sub but would love one of these. A great looking watch and even more so now with your excellent polishing skills and techniques. Love your commentaries' as well... often makes me chuckle... Awesome work my friend.. Kudos..!
Fantastic job, it looks amazing👍. With you 100% on your comments about Rolex. Some of the vintage ones are very nice though. Looking forward to seeing the Memovox, love JLC.
An entertaining and informative video. You really accomplished an amazing transformation of this watch. I think it was the right decision on your part to restore the outside of the case to original appearance.
You have such an enjoyable channel on many levels. The general info, the actual disassembly and assembly, restorative techniques, sound effects, humorous commentary but sometimes just the little ironic gaffs. The dismissive red sharpie comment in the early part of the video and then later, the 'smoking gun' red sharpie marks on your fingers. Haha. Subtle. Thanks from this watch repair voyeur for creating this channel.
Stian- your videos are great! Easily among best watchmaker content out there. I always feel like I learn something. One quick question: Why do you let the lume rest before applying it? Is it to further adjust the consistency?
Thanks for another beautiful video "with immaculate ommentary" and particularly for putting Rolex in its place. It actually is the watch for "the new rich" (or newly rich, if you prefer).
Re Rolex; I fully agree with you. Can't wait for the Le Coultre videos. I'm a great fan. I've had vintage Lancia's all of which had Jaeger instruments and so i must have a Jaeger Le Coultre watch!! Daft really. John
Love this one ! Beautiful movement and a perfect case restoration with a shinny finish ! What a nice feeling when you compare your begin and finish work !! Thank again for sharing, Love your work !! ✨👌
You made that watch look like it just came out of the box. So satisfying to see the before and after shots. I haven't seen anyone on YT that gives as much love and attention to old watches as you. Thanks.
Wilsdorf was an astute businessman. He created watches of quality to different price points for the wristwatch consumer. Tudor as the less expensive little brother will always suffer image wise against the Rolex. For the people who wear a watch as a status statement, lording it over Tudor is a favorite Rolex big-shot pastime! I own a fancy Breguet 3317. In a room full of Rolex Daytona wearers, I am " like nowhere!"
Is there some grainy, shaky footage of that "Rolex Jackhammer" in action? Another fabulous restoration, Stian. Get well, and I hope everyone is fine at home! Ta ta for now.
That is a nice watch and I enjoy watching your work and listening to your conversations. I too wonder at the future of watches. A couple off Christmases ago I offered to buy watches for my two kids (now in their 20's), as neither has a watch. Both didn't want one as they say they have a phone. My wife doesn't wear a watch either. I guess now the phone is taking over as a time keeper, camera and encyclopedia. So watches, cameras and hard copy books have a lot of competition. There will always be people who want high end watches as a status symbol but what about everyday watches, will they go the way of the pocket watch - a quaint curio.
Yep I agree with that, Allan. Mechanical watches are luxury items more than utility items now, so they will survive as such, but new generations are growing up without a watch on their wrists
Lovely restoration, Stian. I am with you in regards to Rolex. I've never really wanted a Rolex in my collection, mainly because they're two showey. People want to make a statement by wearing one. I'd rather wear an IWC or Grand Seiko (both on my target list). Only those who know about quality time peices would appreciate them. Most wouldn't give them a second glance. Thanks for sharing and see you in your online shop very soon.
A great video as always. I found this one particulaly interesting as I used to work for Watches of Switzerland refurbishing the Rolex cases and bracelets for the national shops around the UK. There's a lot I could talk about on this subject, but I thought your approach and handling of the case was very good. One of my biggest bugs in seeing a refinished case is seeing feathering from the grained shoulder to the polished side. It was so nice to see you give that good attention! As a bonus, my girlfriend also enjoys your videos 🙂
Thanks a lot Richard! That feathering is indeed bad and it's honestly just laziness from the ones doing it, not taking their time masking the case. Give your girlfriend a kiss from me 😘😂
Thank you for this brilliant video, Stian. I could write a 10'000 word comment or essay on all the points you mention (agreeing and disagreeing), but here is the one thing I look forward to most: you doing a Jaeger-LeCoultre in the foreseeable future. All of my favorite channels are kind of stuck with Rolexes at the time, so a change to a lesser pimped-up brand (or a higher one: anybody in for a Patek Phillipe, Breguet, Lange & Söhne or Ulysse Nardin?) would be greatly appreciated. Again: thank you for this treat, even though I would never go within a mile of a Tudor, nor within a million miles of a Rolex.
Great work 👌🏻 except for the hand case bevelling. It rounded the case more than it beveled it. Making all the effort of lapping it with sharp corners go to waste.
Hi Stian, i missed this video when you uploaded it watching now though. AS movements are very good as are Eta, i especially like the way A Schild do the date change mechanism, to instantly change day and date, i have a few AS movements that i've fixed / serviced from late 60s to late 70s, there are a few Russian watch movements that have instant date change, it's good to see how other country's do the mechanism, great video Stian cheers.
Slowly (but surely) you’re becoming one of the top watchmaking content makers on RUclips. Thank you
I believe Stian already is!
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you. The style of this channel is all its own.
Appreciate that, thanks! 😊👍
@@joeskeptical4762 Agreed!
Stain is!
This Tudor really shins after its restoration! Hope you are feeling better soon Stian!
AWESOME!!!
Nice watch. I’d love to find one like this that might be affordable. Good luck with that!
Wow!
I am far from being a fan of Rolex / Tudor but the revamping was amazing, almost like it !! :D
Using the stem to align the cyclops properly is a great tip! There is much to learn in all your videos.
this is what I want to see from watch restoration... good job!!!
Lovely job.
The drama! The angst and soul searching! The violence AND a case restoration! These documentaries are gripping and exhausting!
😁👍
I’ve worked on 3 AS movements with that date spring and it was broken on all of them. Good movement otherwise. Nice vid. Keep em coming.
lovely job Stian!!
Thanks Carl :)
Superb.... 😊

That's a beautiful piece! And a wonderful restoration/service... thx!

Indeed it was initially!

Nice strap. Great job.
I knew you could do it! Hope against hope, and you pulled it off.
😁👍
awesome!
Nice work!
Very good job!
Stain, very good and satisfying video, thank you very much. The result is amazing.
Thanks, Jorge! Stian 😉
Thank you for this and being you Stian!
That watch was truly a beauty! Sometimes simple IS better. Another great video Theon....
Thanks Dave! Stian 😉

My 1973 Tudor Oyster Prince is in the shop right now. It was working fine and then stopped. I think the main spring gave out.
Very nice!
Thanks Jozsef!
Incredible work!
Thats a very nice watch. As always you bring quality workmanship and a good laugh to the table. Thank you. God hælj og god bedring!
Very beautiful restoration of that beautiful Tudor! ❤️
Thank you very much!

stunning work...
as Always‼️®️™️
Cool!
With the mention you had regarding the price on pegwood contra cleaningsolution you should have been from Sunnmøre not from Østlandet ;) nice job on that watch.
😂 Jeg har en kinesisk kone, så jeg har lært å være sparsom :)
I really admire the care you take with case polishing. Thanks for sharing those details.
Rolex Jackhammer? Superb.
I hate that one fact! I've watched all the videos you uploaded so far 🤣
😂👍

Thanks Dave! Yep, I actually missed quite a few fixes on this one...
I love the strap you selected.
Wow. 2 scammers in one video comment! Amazing.
You could be a brainsurgeon with those steady hands Stian😄 beautiful tudor. Amazing work as always😊
😊 thank you
Another fantastic restoration! Always look forward to your restoration videos. You do great work! Keep it up.
Cheers!
Thank you very much, Angel :)
I learned so much today. Great episode again. Thank-you!
Stian, you said right at the end the watch now looks spectacular, I could not agree more. All your restoration videos and results are good, but this one is up there as one of your best. Please keep it up 😀
Thanks so much, Alan! Always nice seeing your comments :)
When your vids come up I automatically click like and put on a cup of tea, and relax... While learning something new. A good combination. 🙂
Love that! 😊

awesome video, Thank you, subbed you grumpy old man!
Thanks for the sub! 😁

Hello Stian, I hope you are feeling better? Wonderful to see you again, thoroughly enjoyed this one, thank you so much for sharing
Thank you so much Ralfy!
Another great video, and an amazing restoration. Thank you for sharing your work!

Haha, no, those red sharpie marks on my fingers were made my my daughter... She made a heart on my hand :)
Beautiful
Stian- your videos are great! Easily among best watchmaker content out there. I always feel like I learn something. One quick question: Why do you let the lume rest before applying it? Is it to further adjust the consistency?
Thanks so much! And yes, the lume needs to sit a little bit before applying it so it gets the right consistency.
Thanks for another beautiful video "with immaculate ommentary" and particularly for putting Rolex in its place. It actually is the watch for "the new rich" (or newly rich, if you prefer).
Beautiful! What an amazing feeling of satisfaction you must have from a restoration like this. Thank you!

This is really enjoyable. Great photography too..
The seconds issue. What about primary and secondary wheels?? Any good?
I always enjoy watching your videos. Thank you
Nice work, always a pleasure watching your work
Phenomenal! Great video love the amount of detailed work that you put into these timepieces. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I absolutely love Tudor. Love this video.
You made that watch look like it just came out of the box. So satisfying to see the before and after shots. I haven't seen anyone on YT that gives as much love and attention to old watches as you. Thanks.
Thanks 😊
Hi Stian, this is Amy. You really make me laugh and I learn so much with all your videos. That’s also why I sent you my watch to repair!
😊👍
You have done a beautiful job of this fine watch. Thanks❤
Thank you very much!
Lovely work, excellent result. Enjoyable video.
Agree with your Rolex sentiments.
Looking forward to the Memovox.
Csoda szép AS szerkezet.

Glad to have your new video. That is a beautiful watch, and now it sparkles!
Always fun and relaxing to watch you work. Thanks so much, Stian!
Thank you, Frank!
Is there some grainy, shaky footage of that "Rolex Jackhammer" in action? Another fabulous restoration, Stian. Get well, and I hope everyone is fine at home! Ta ta for now.
I just bought the Horotec press with the push fit dies and was wondering if it would do crystals. Looks like you can.
👍

12:33 Why would the brushing be described as "radial"?
Because it is circular, not straight. You can also call it circular :)
Circular it is then 😁
Beautiful! Very skillful work, subbed.
Thanks for the sub!👍
wow...! just beautiful... congrats Stian, you just brought a jewel back to life...
Thank you so much 😀

🙋♂️🏴 Hi Stian fantastic video I think that is one of my favourite watches you have so expertly serviced / repaired.
Thank you kindly!
Thank you for showing the underside of the DAY dial.
Great work 👌🏻 except for the hand case bevelling. It rounded the case more than it beveled it. Making all the effort of lapping it with sharp corners go to waste.
