Nagant silenced with poison and fanning is fantastic with the drilling, at least as a solo. It deals with AI super easily, plus the drilling only has one shotgun shot, so when a whole team rushes you there's another close ranged option to fall back on.
you're right, having the close range emergency backup for when youre out of shots is all you need. but I also love it on a fresh hunter so you can live without fanning, quartermaster, or sharpshooter

Good choice. If you catch a team off guard you can take a few silenced shots too without giving yourself away.
Honestly the drilling is so versatile it needs a secondary only in the most rudimentary sense. A normal conversation pistol fmj for me.

It can technically work against bows/crossbows since they don't penetrate limbs.
@@Swarlos262 I actually had two friends get killed by the same crossbow bolt. They were close enough that when the point came through to the other side of one of their heads, that the other also got tagged. It was honestly hilarious.

I like to take Sparks Pistol with the Drilling rifle. Same theory as running it with the Krag. A lil pocket cannon that can one-tap Hunters missing a 25 bar after I've killed them at range or with the shotgun of the drilling

In my opinion, the best option for drilling is the Scottfield spitfire, 0.8 cycle between shots seems excellent for short distances compared to the 0.5 officer nagant, plus it combines ammunition and can be used with Fanning
Caldwell pax with dum dum to boost ammo and good backup is one of the best choices
I love using the drilling dum dum with regular/slugs with hand crossbow regular bolts and chokebolts. The hand crossy is a instakill from 16m so you have a silent option i also use chokes to pressure after ive tagged with dum dum or i want to pinpoint their location. Cadwell pax with FMJ is a safer option if you feel like you need it.
I like officer, spitfire or new army as a secondary for drilling. Something with nice ammo capacity and high fire rate. Just in case I miss my 3 shots with the drilling. Which I do... a lot.

I think people keep undervaluing the versatility of the drilling rifle. I think it is fine where it is. I think the bigger issue is the hunt economy as a whole. Hunt economy only hurts newer players.
They need to ban hackers. The game is unplayable right now in Asia servers where i play. It's causing me and my buds to play on Oceanic and US servers to have even remotely playable games.

It’s bad on us two if u play high mmr like 5-6 star we have a really bad problem with reshade rn so u get head shot from 100+ meters in the dark on night maps and fog it not good man they’re gonna have to ban reshade which sucks bc I use it to make my colors and stuff look good bc I run my game on all low except textures is at medium but it’s ruff man if u don’t know what reshade is see if u can find a video where they show all the shit u can do it can make flashes useless, fog go away, rain go away, and bushes and trees as well ofc said person has to know how to do all of this thru reshade but at the end of the day also all the Asians players come over to US West and sometimes US East at hours where it would be day time or evening for u and a midst all this with the rain everyone is ratting so hard rn honestly worst state of the game that it’s ever been in, in my opinion which sucks bc the content coming out rn is great love the new weapons buffs and changes the rain just couldn’t have come at a worse time in the game

You downloaded a 3rd party software for hunt because you "wanted better graphics" Reshade definitely is an advantage even with minimal settings checked. What is too far? Probably downloading a 3rd party software to play lol

I’d say uppermat both with slugs. Not sure why the drilling costs what it does though, more than the krag and lebel is kind of crazy.
I would say something spammy, like an Officer or New Army.
Drilling is versatile, but it has 1-2 shots and longer than average reloads.
The shotgun takes longer to reload and a missed shot leaves the Drilling vulnerable to rushes.
But yeah bow can work regular arrow is basically silent shotgun with the perk. Special arrows do map control to manage Drilling reloads.
The DumDum is strong, i just wish they buff the FMJ's muzzle velocity...
Usually spitfire, I like it's fighting capability for when I get pushed and need more than what the drilling can dish out.
i either bring something with fast fire rate, weather it be a spitfire, fanning or dual pistol. Help for when ur being pushed by multiple people or u have shot all ur shots and u havent time to reload. OR i bring something with utility like a crossbow w poison or/and fire bolts
I use Nagant Officer Brawler so i can take knife as a tool and still have smth vs immolators. Also, fast firing Nagant come in handy in situations where I wasted shots from all 3 Drilling barrels xD
I run some kind of fast firing pistol, because even if i hit all the shots (which is a big if), that's still only enough for one guy. And there's often some more, and they heard me shoot twice - they smell the blood in the water, and will push
The explosive bow artillery strike was crazy
Love the Drilling it is my favorite weapon now as well. For a secondary I usually take the New Army swift or hand crossbow. I have tried 2 slot shotguns which work okay as well. I have not tried the bow yet. I do think with Frag arrows could be interesting.

Drilling can literally do everything. Has some of the best ammo selections in the game. Great damage with a forgiving dropoff range. One of the cleanest iron sights. Cycle time comparable to the officer. Range? You got it. CQC? Yup. This gun is Hunt's definitive Jack of all trades.

@@ZuignapHahahah! A salesman, yea I so much agree. While it is a good weapon it is kind of hard to use and has many drawbacks too. I think it's more "Fun" than "OP/Good" and I will definitely get much more kills from close to mid with the Officer Carbine which even got buff on this last patch. However the Drilling with the new medium bleed that now deals intense bleed, that could be something to try!
usually playing a new army (or dolch if i feel like spending money) with dumdum in it. I think its pretty good as a last resort and to apply pressure with the bleed. if u get pushed by more than 1 person having a fast firing secondary is good to have or incase your shotgun doesnt 1 tap. Prob favorite loadout rn
I use spitfire without traits, normal scottfield with fanning. It gives extra ammo and is a viable option when failing the shotgun ammo
I love the drilling with FMJ. It's an absolute hole-puncher
Drilling slugs, and New army swift with fmj has become one of my favorite loadouts
I usually run the Drilling with Pax dumdum, hand crossbow poison or a saber
Yooo this is almost the exact loadout I've been using for the drilling since I got it unlocked.
Drilling with dum-dum and pennyshot
Bow with frags and concertina
Throwing axes, derringer, meds, chokes
Large vit, and three more consumables of your choice
Such a good loadout. If you can tag with the drilling dum-dum, they almost invariably take cover behind the nearest building, rock, or tree and become easy prey for the frag arrow.
Drilling + Dolch P ... OP AF.
But i usually run Drilling normal ammo + slug + Pax fanning FMJ. (sometimes even Drilling FMJ for more ammo and that lower damage dropoff. But rarely cus i dont like the lower velocity Drilling special ammo.
drilling fmj with a compact caldwell flechette. or bleed rounds with uppermat is stupid good.
I've been slapping on the Pax with dumdum as a standard secondary for a while, so much ammo that you can drill holes in anything and everything.

I like the silenced nagant with or without poison. But if I have Quartermaster, I like the bow. Idk why, I just do. Maybe even just double poison arrow it for that pressure

I like the Handcrossbow with Poison and Fire bolts, just to have some more PVE and AOE options as a secondary
I play drilling with bleed so i play it with uppercut or uppermat for wallbangs and some extra spare slugs
depends on ammo if i bring dum dum i bring a uppercut, if i bring normal i bring whatever i feel like (usually more ammo but recently been testing explosive springfield)

saw this video just now and been playing the game past 2 weeks and my go to is Handxbow with poison
I spend too much money and go drilling + Uppermat. Drilling has bleed + slugs, Uppermat has standard + slugs.
There is something really odd about the drilling. The medium ammo has a delay coming out of the rifle. Its so annoying I don't use it. It feels like it has worse velocity than compact FMJ.
New army for close range rapid follow up for me. mainly as im not a good enough shot so need lots of rounds down range :)
What ammo do you prefer? Cause plain med ammo has nearly zero pen but the dumdum and FMJ move SOOOOOO SLOW! I have a hard time figuring out which I actually like. As for sidearm I feel like I just go with spitfire, such a good gun at all ranges.
I'm FMJ enjoyer for all compact and medium weapons
Conversion Belt and fanning for those times you get pinched in a nickle. Otherwise I wouldn't know.
@ 11:50... I am constantly having audio issues. Game is just in a bad technical state. I've had people open rolling doors....walk up to me an shoot me with steel balls with no sound..
romero handcannon with slugs is a great gun to combo it, so you get way more shotgun ammo

I feel like its almost necessary to run dum dum on the drilling. That second shot always feels a bit clunky to me and makes it difficult to double tap in really hectic situations.

If I have quartermaster I like Caldwell Rival Handcannon with slugs, Or I go Levering/BG with Terminus Handcannon Penny shot.
To drilling i take something with fast fire rate like scottfield spitfire or new army but crosbow with fire bolts its good too :3
do you have any suggestion for get better aim to weird weapons? for example drilling, vetterli, sparks silencer, bornheim, scottfield pistol. cant find the head whenever i try

Drilling flachett with smal rivel flachett
it is my go to rival with flachett has round about 40 meter range and than the drilling can still pen wood its fun to use fmj to but that muzzle is ass so normal is fine
i personly like flachett so much that i have to play with it you can always take one out of the fight or sometimes they rush you while bleeding and you still have the rival to kill tham
its fun to kill somebody without slugs they are slowly boring af

I've been running this really versatile loadout lately. The Winfield 1873 Talon with high velocity and levering and the hand crossbow with flame bolts and regular bolts. It has been my favorite loadout lately and fairly cheap.
I prefer some pistol with drilling, so you can do triple or more shots/

Some great secondaries are the Dolch or Dolch precision, the Scottfield swift with fanning or the Bornheim match but I've been running the Mosin obrez with spitzer ammo for long range.

idk man, the drilling seems more like the missing to me. Its not you either, everyone ive seen play the gun, myself included, seems to get no reg on perfectly goood shots. I feel like the irons are off, I dunno.
