  • With a new rule about night time landing ruining their arrival plans, these pilots must continue on far beyond what they were expecting and fly into the night with nothing but complete darkness around them. With no visual aids to help them, its easy for pilots to make life-threatening mistakes.

    I won’t even drive if I’m sleep deprived, unless it’s an emergency.

    • @StefunnyStrange
      @StefunnyStrange Год назад +2

      To be fair…. Falling asleep while driving is probably more dangerous than falling asleep while flying. With flying at least you usually have time and are warned far before devastation and modern planes won’t just crash if a pilot falls asleep, it will auto correct a lot. This is not an argument that pilots should be allowed to sleep while flying btw… I’m just saying, between the two, one is almost for sure death if you veer into traffic. If I had to choose whether I wanted to be a passenger in a car where the driver falls asleep on the expressway or a plane with a pilot who falls asleep, I think I would kinda have to choose the plane. 😂 But I think you meant being responsible for others, that not even you would do this with just your life to look after, which is understandable

    With regards to the state of the taxi and runways at Vlodivostok, it's not for lack of maintenance.
    The climate in Siberia & North Russia can be as low as -30 in deep winter, with the ground freezing, and in the high 20s. This destroys structures on the ground, such as asphalt and concrete.
    This problem is also true for parts of Canada and Alaska.

    • @karekarenz7683
      @karekarenz7683 Год назад

      I wonder how long it takes them to repair it in Vlad, as compared to Canada and Alaska?

    • @incremental_failure
      @incremental_failure Год назад

      That's not true. Many areas in the world experience -30c winters, I've experienced a few of them, the runways don't look like that. That itself doesn't destroy asphalt, large fast temperature changes do.

    • @incremental_failure
      @incremental_failure Год назад

      @@karekarenz7683 I doubt they repair their runways more than once per two decades.

    I know its becoming normal, but when a small computer chip, or lack thereof, can ground a 4 million dollar jet, I see problems in the future for mankind.

    • @Unknown_Ooh
      @Unknown_Ooh Год назад +1

      As an A&P technician I can confidently say a "single small computer chip" doesn't alone ground multi million dollar aircraft. There are countless computers and it is impossible to track an issue down to an individual "small computer chip" without an avionics technician spending an entire day at minimum troubleshooting. Grounding of aircraft depends on the system or systems affected. That being said I have never seen an aircraft grounded due to a single small computer chip mainly because there are multiple backup systems and the aircraft will reset the problem computer, start the backup and then close out the problem computer. Grounding of private aircraft also comes down to owner discretion upon advice from their A&P tech. Commercial aircraft go by different standards for groundings. The TAS system failure stated in the video could have been bypassed. This was a cable television show and we all know how they like to spice shows up for added entertainment value. I've never met a pilot who cannot reset his own caution warnings.
