I'm pretty sure she started dancing other styles at the age of 3 and then at 12/13 she started doing ballet. Anyways, her talent, dedication and crazy hard work are paying off and I'm sure that with her work ethic she will go so far 👏👏👏
Her black swan was elegant but her white swan was mesmerizing. I almost believed she was ruffling her feathers multiple times and her leaps are incredible 🩰
I can't believe how beautiful her Odette was. The perfect mix of woman AND bird, just using her hands and feet. I couldn't believe that she was a SOLOIST, with the Royal Sweden, but I hope it's fast tracking her principal. Her Odile just needs a tiny edge, but that was GORGEOUS, at SCHOOL! Wishing you the best.
She was practicing at MBA while visiting during this past winter break, in preparation for her debut. (Meaning, it was a year and a half after she graduated and joined RSB.)
I thought they gave her SL while she was still nominally in the Corps. Some companies do make "deals" with certain dancers, like we're requires to start you out in the Corps, but plan on soloist in your 2nd year and principal in your 3rd. I think both Marianela Nunez and Alina Cojacaru entered the Royal this way.
@@minissa2009 im not sure if i understand what u mean.. they gave her a SL contract even tho she was technically still in the corps?? ive never heard of this system before thats interesting!! that explains why when i went to check the RSB's website, maya was indicated as being in the corps my only point of reference for different dancer titles is the Paris Opera Ballet, n im not sure if we have that system here.. we do have 1year contracts for dancers who integrate the ballet from outside the Ecole de Danse, after which they get hired on an indefinite contract (we call it a contract of indefinite duration here, CDI in french)
Beautifully done. She is soft and graceful. I can almost picture wings as her hands and arms flutter and move forward and back. I've never seen a ballet, but I am enjoying watching videos so much.
If you get the chance to see one, do it, it's the most incredible experience. It's not like watching a movie, it's all there, happening in front of you, it draws you in, I know you'll love it. Some companies do matinée performances for schools etc, you might get a cheap ticket that way, or maybe it's mot they expensive where you are. To see the Royal Ballet in London cost a fortune. I was lucky my father was a super fan of opera and ballet, he'd often take me or if someone dropped out he'd take me. I loved the ballet so much. Unfortunately I wasn't very good at it.
@@dancer_rina- what does that mean? (sorry, non-dancer here.) If Maya is in the lead role, doesn’t that make her the prima ballerina? If she isn’t, why is the prima ballerina not performing in the role? Is she doing another ballet? Will Maya be performing as the lead every night? I’ve been to the ballet in London a few times, but I’m pretty clueless on how it all works.
@@sian2337so she isn’t a principal but she is a soloist which means most of the time she does play lead roles but other times she is part of the corps i think
MAYA : Awareness, completion of every gesture, attention to what she is doing at every moment, plenty control of moviments and drops of emotion on the character's feelings plus technical domain at every moment. It is amazing ! Keep on. God bless you Maya.
The dance is in every part of her body and it fills the room. It could feel what the composer wanted you to feel and you can only feel it because she's dancing.
Wait, Maya is dancing this for the Royal Swedish Ballet?! HOLY MOLY!!!! YAY Maya!!! Eva, are you going to do any photo shoots with Maya in the costumes? I know you probably don't usually do that, but you're such a talented photographer.
I don’t know much about ballet but I know I couldn’t scroll the video until it finished and I think that means something about her dancing and presence. ❤
Absolutely gorgeous, each and every movement look absolutely stunning and all come together to create the most beautiful portrayal of both the black and white swans I have ever seen. Maya is so talented and is going to become a Prima one day💕

I like her white swan more than her Odile interpretation. I think it fits her style and character better. Odile maybe a bit more charisma...sass? However, she's a gorgeous dancer regardless of what she does; her arms ❤. MBA is bizarrely full of talent!

She's lovely. I enjoy hearing the instructions being given to her. I'm so happy they let you film there. 🥰 I've always wondered, is there one or more signature moves in Swan Lake thst make people say it's the most difficult ballet to perform? Or is it just the whole thing is difficult? 🥰
@@seventysevenquestions im not familiar with systems other than english/american and french but since principal/etoile get titular roles, soloists/permiers danseurs also get to have them sometimes but do secondary roles then demi soloists would be sujets, and in the case of french ballet, they sometimes get titular roles, but rarely, or they dance pas de deux or parts of the ballet that stand out that are not danced by the corps so maya would be in the latter case, but she's done a major role!! i know that its not really mind blowing for us in france to see sujets/demi soloists have titular roles, but it is still quite exceptional, and attests to the bright future the dancer has ahead of them (an example is guillaume diop, recently named étoile/principal, who skipped the soloist rank, and from sujet was named étoile) i hope that helps?? if anyone wants to correct me on the equivalence and the subtleties of which roles the demi soloists get, please feel free to add on, as all of this is what ive gathered, and assumed based on the french system's equivalence, after brief checking
Funny, there are a couple of comments saying they don't like the shorts, I was thinking to myself that I like them. In thinking about it, it's because it's different. A bit more modern. Also I think it's because they help to elongate, with the black leotard. Also, I find it a bit more modest. I like the simplicity of this video. Maybe even more so than a full-blown performance on a huge stage with a big cast and lots of glitz and glamour. Just a woman and her dancing.
Maya tumbled trough some fairy portal from Avalon at 12. There is no other explanation. I wish I could've seen the opera/ballet adaptation of Melancholy at the Stockholm ballet, I love the movie and I believe she danced in the adaptation?
She is very lovely! It looks like such a depressing environment though. Plain gray walls, gray floor. Must be difficult to stay motivated, let alone feel inspired so this dancer is doing phenomenally well!
Stunning!! I had seen on your channel she would be performing this. She has come so far even in the time I have seen videos of her dancing on this channel. I'm going to have to start looking up release dates on videos for context, because wow! I love when talented people be talented. 😊
FIRST OF ALL this version of black swan? Amazing. I wouldn’t even try that. Same old steps with such beautiful and challenging remixes. I was curious after I saw the advertisement on my Facebook and I’m now very excited for her. A true ballerina. Smh I’ll never this good ❤you go Maya

Wow😃 . What a treat we were given - theatre performance. The performance and body expression was absolutely the wow factor. The body was making flowing waves and exactly how one imagined. Her performance made me feel she was she was totally immersed and she took me with her. I too was immersed and feeling every move in particular she came alive when going through the rehearsal for Swedish Ballet Company. They would be nothing but pleased with the way she performed in rehearsal. Worth watching, loved every second of it. Her face was also not hard but soft and neutral - could be a little softer but understand takes nothing away from her performance as her face was fine and perhaps not worth critiquing because she blew everything out the water with her performance. Great job and interpretation of the black swan. Tbh her body flowing was even better than some principle dancers. You won’t catch me giving over the top (OTT) critiquing unless it’s worth and this was more than worthy.
Reminder: she only started training in ballet at age 12. She's only been doing this for 7-8 years. Some people just have IT.
Yes but she was dancing other styles before that age.
If I'm not mistaken, Maya started training ballet at the age of 5.

She has great arms. They really add a touch of sparkle to her dancing.
I can't stop looking at them! Such beautiful lines!
💯
Her arms sold me the most on the difference in characters. Lovely in both
Maya's artistry is blossoming more and more!

Yes Maya noticeably improves as she continues through the variation. Her arms get softer and her control gets better.

My gosh, she is BREATHTAKING. I wish I could see her full stage performance 🖤🔥
Two perfect swans in my opinion. Maya was born for ballet. Her talent and dedication is outstanding
It seemed that she was more fully in character for Odette, it would be interesting to see Odile in performance.
