Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an action role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The fourth major game in the Dragon Age franchise, The Veilguard is the sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Okay but Emmrich literally cracking the venatori dude bones makes me want to choose him for the ward…Bellara just throws them around that’s just half has cool 😂
Looks even cooler when he becomes a lich
Glad someone else thought that was cool. When I saw that scene for the first time I was like DAMN.
You know, I do love Mass Effect 2 but this does a better job for why not doing the loyalty missions kills your companions other than them just being too sad or distracted to survive, because here it's that the villains that your supposed to defeat during their quests are all here in the final battle and the extra strength they bring kills them
Yeah it's kinda mad seeing the more sorta, generic NPCs replaced with characters we deal with during companion quests, I really like that detail.
Wait really? Neat detail
@@theoroderick782 Yeah, that giant skeleton is Johanna Hezenkoss, the villain of Emmrich's questline. Aelia, the Venatori that kills Lucanis is the villain of Neve's questline, and Taash is killed by the Dragon King, the villain of their questline
@@AgentofChaos315Even more reason to not complete the quests
I like to think Mass Effect 2 definitely provided a lot of pointers for how to handle companion quests for this game. Even down to assigning the companions to different roles in the siege. It was like a longer and more thorough callback to the assault on the Collector’s base.
They really killed off Varric with no Inquisitor or Hawke by his side.
Wow.
I mean uh.. Hawke was dead for me so that'd be an awkward reunion..
@@Fanatator Now they're reunited for real
Varric had us, the player by their side
the player sucks. where hawke at tho??
@@thatguyluke242This Varric seems like a Temu-version of earlier instalments. I think deep down he knew it himself and went to end it all.
Harding and Varric. Look at how they massacred my babies!
I can't get over Varric's death!, I need a book or a comic or something where they bring him back! I don't care if he doesn't show in games anymore, just de-canonize his death! 😭
I hope they make fade walker
Suicide Mission Part 1- “Rook whoever you pick for this could die….you should look at your opti-“
Rook- “Taash”
Suicide Mission Part 2- “Wow Taash barely survived, now we need to pick someone else to stay beh-“
Rook- “Taash”
The only companion character I didn't like at least a little
Jokes aside, I feel like Rook’s death is really well done. It doesn’t make sense that it’s tied to your companions. The Warden’s death was a choice and it had nothing to do with your companions.
This game took a lot of inspiration from Mass Effect. 2 companions, no direct control, suicide mission like decisions that can end up with everyone dead, actiom combat
@@VDA19 Especially Mass Effect 2, with all the loyalty missions and stuffs
I applaud the people who created the cutscenes in the final part. Directing, acting, animation, music - everything is top-notch. There was a moment when I almost let a tear fall just from the excitement of their work.
They/them is now was/were
Lol 😂

@@RedAlpha101 but two genders
There/Here to going/gone
Lucanis failing twice is so laughable
That’s nice to see but I still hate the fact there is no option to let Solas win. Even in this ending where literally everyone dies you still beat him.
Well duh bc his plan would still destroy the world.
Baldurs lets you destroy the world in like 4 different ways @@steffanocornejo6129
He was destined to fail one way or another anyway so I dont really care about that
@@steffanocornejo6129except it wouldn’t. He literally says that he had a host of spirits waiting to help with the demons that would flood into the world. He had plans in place for when the veil came down.
@ did you almost miss what he said after. He said that he had a bunch of spirits to alleviate the amount of deaths but There will still be a massive amount of death in the world bc mages are attuned tot he fade and as a result many would go comatose or just die. You also have to remember that spirits r fueled by emotions and if the emotion doesn't exist as much then spirits will be weaker. Spirits in dragon age are two way streets as in they create emotions but also need the emotions to exist so the emotions can exist . That's why he asks "do you know the feeling when you're on a carriage to home and you feel the wheels change from stone to mud? No? That's because that spirit for that emotion has died."
I really hate that the ultimate (self) sacrifice is the bad ending and how it is tied to not being friends with your companions. I really liked the ultimate sacrifice ending for both you and Alistair (especially Alistair since he will automatically do the sacrifice out of love if you had romanced him) because it feels right. You were tasked to do an abysmal feat, no matter the cost. Makes that decision more meaningful when you had befriended and kept everyone alive by the end of the game and still decided to do the ultimate sacrifice. You had a strong sense of duty and a mission, so it felt right to finish it on your terms.
Fullheartedly agree. Honestly I wish this had been the canon ending. The game as a whole feels like it lacks actual consequences, but having the Ultimate Sacrifice be the ending I think would've really helped with the sanded down writing.
You mean like how this is exactly like me2?

"We have Mass Effect 2 ending at home"
"with greater preparation and time spent wiith companions and allies, the veilguard might have survivied" like they think people are that dumb they would actually get this ending on purpose lol rather just call you a loser you got everyone killed lol
It's mass effect 2. If you just blast through, yea, you'll get a bad ending.
@B1izzardHawk not sure if veilguard has it, but there were dialogues warning you before hand. Also funny enough if you know what you were doing it's still possible to get by, like if you bring legion to the fight before the collectors base (which prevents him from dying in the reactor) you can use him as the hacker and regardless of loyalty he will succeed
@@GameHunterDeathhunter it will still be dependent on other factors. In my original playthrough, I had Legion as the hacker, but Miranda wasn't loyal, so she ended up getting Legion killed
@B1izzardHawk ohh ya totally forgot the second team, not sure is that part or the second but I think garrus works regardless of loyalty
@@GameHunterDeathhunter actually, it's Jacob of all people
They couldn't spend a little more to get someone to narrate the darkest epilogue?
Which game does that?
Origins, DA2. Not inquisition, as it didnt really have one, but the first two games did.
all the narrators (rook and companions) are dead
@kaaiitlin so is varric.
Bellara and Emmrich are the type of companions that are the slightly annoying or boring ones in other games, that no one really cares about. But in this game they're the most inoffensive of the lot, says a lot. 16:16 needed to happen 16 minutes in to the game at the latest.
Strange, i feel no remorse or regret when all of my companions died in this game lol. Meanwhile i was so afraid anything could happen to any of them in the previous games, especially in origins where the darkspawns were still terrifying mindless abominations
Remember the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2? I was deadly afraid of them dying.
It was literally a dlc in orgins that showed they weren't mindless lmfao
@@theatlantean8036 alphas and emissaries clearly not, but fodders are driven by instinct and origins dlc introduced us reverse engineered darkspawns so they are different thanks to the architect
Most of them don't even die in an interesting way.
It’s only one good-bad thing in that game. Chance that everyone could die and everything you lost. Normal sacrifice like in first part. Unfortunately it’s only one for all 50+ hours game choice
What do you mean worst? This is the best ending
Why are you even here
It’s not.
@@sonnenblumefrau2048 It honestly really is. It allows Dragon Age to reboot past the failure of this game.
@@mangomage33😂
How!?!?!? EVERYONE DIED!!! I just beat this game and with the exception of Davrin, everyone in my team lived.
You know you've failed as a writer when the audience cheers for the villains.
I enjoyed the game very much, and plan on a second playthrough.
@@sonnenblumefrau2048 Here is your second pile of shit sir, enjoy, it's still hot.
Should’ve reworded that to “You know you’ve failed when the audience wants the “protagonists” dead” because their are great villains people cheered for Madara Uchiha from Naruto or
Who of the actual audience did that though?
The people cheering didn't play the game and everyone knows it, but nice try sweety.
Wow those gods look really fucking weak tentacle lady almost died from a few basic ass arrows
At this point in the story she is mortal, still an extremely powerful darkspawn mage like Corypheus, but mortal
@@spacejesus6581not like him at all he was just a mage. She is still a god above him by leagues. Remember they're the one that created the blights in the first place. Every blight before even the first one only had 10% of its full power. With the two gods released they started using more and more power until almost the full power of the blight is released
@@steffanocornejo6129 a "god" is just an ancient powerful mage, and without her archdemon she's mortal
@ but still a god in tiers of power when it comes to this world. When someone can create living beings at the snap of a finger then their power is akin to a god. The female god can literally revive beings from the dead as well as combine creatures to make new ones with no effort at all while it took more than a dozen mages and dozens of sacrifices to do the simplest blood magic ritual. Just look at the Connor situation. Needed a sacrifice to expel the demon. Creating an arch demon is not a simple process either as requires far beyond what a mortal being can do. Remember they were actually immortal originally, they lost the immortality when the veil was created. Solas tells u that what he did took the immortality from elves.
@@spacejesus6581 Corypheus would wipe the floor with her
16:07 That Hammer Qunari must be the great great great great grandfather of Marauder Shields, achieved the paragon status right here, i hope they are building statues mid orzammar in his honor, next to the monument of my dwarven princess, who died just in time to avoid the horrors that laid on the horizon
They really said "geuss you should have put in more hours" 👀

Morrigan looks awful
Thank you.
@@Luteole this can happen to any companion, but yes, the scene is poorly made, one shot morrigan is facing the guy, the other shot she is facing away and with nothing of imediate danger. poorly directed
I do think it's funny how all the generic enemies, the war golem, the venatori general, the antaam warlord, they're all in the companion rivals if you didn't finish their quests
the good ending
Only sad death is the baby griffin. And it's because it's a baby griffin
odd choice to bring keep a baby Griffin as a fighting companion considering in Origins it is stated they are extinct...
@jaredfrancis5062 it was a lie told by the Grey wardens so people would stop hunting them
@@Zerathenezot more like an obvious retcon... this game can't keep it's own lore straight though to be fair that started back in Inquisition.
@@Zerathenezot and why were they being hunted in the first place? wouldn't the Grey Warden have them protected? they were the ones using them as mounts in battle
@jaredfrancis5062 could be a retcon. A clutch of eggs were found in the fade. So for awhile they were extinct. All I know is Assan is adorable. And the only "companion" who I felt anything when he died. I said well that sucks.
I truly don’t understand how you don’t get the option to kill any of the enemies during the companion quest but literally everyone in your party dies???? Like why is it the only brutal thing that happens only happens to your companion. I like the game and completed it with everyone in it (except Harding cause I didn’t expect she would die 😢) but it made me mad a little. Like I couldn’t kill Illario but Harding just had to die 😭. It would be more impactful if there was some kind of build up to this but this basically only happens if you don’t get any of them to the hero of the veilguard title minus the death between Harding or Davrin. It agitates me because throughout the whole game the choices are all vanilla and the people who need/should die in the game don’t because of friendship but it’s okay for your companions to die cause you not close with them it just doesn’t make sense.
I don't care of them at all😂 the only characters I cared and I was hoping for some closure were the previous ones, Morrigan, Solas, Varric , Dorian , the Inquisitor..the rest are so damn forgettable due of their poor writing . I'm sorry for Harding since she was part of the old characters. What a joke this game is
Bro who cares about harding ? She was only a no name scout in DAI and because some people thought she is kinda cute they made her a companion.
@veiregor That's right but she belongs to the old times during Inquisition as well
The thing i hate is, with the exception of Varric's (and only because his is a plot twist), their deaths feel...empty? Like they're more npcs we met once or twice who died instead of companions who have been with us for 25+ hours. I really wish they had made these deaths more impactful on some level.
How is it different to the mass effect 2 deaths which are considered among the most impactful in gaming? They seem fairly similar to me.
because the companions themselves are empty and uninteresting
@@andrewlopezmp3…You want to compare this garbage to mothertrucking Mass Effect 2?

“The final Blight-the worst of Blights”
Literally throwing shade at the goat DA:O. This game can go to hell and the last remnants of Bioware can rot.
First Blight literally lasted 100 years ans brought almost entire civilization to end
But yes call the most chill Blight thw worst one
It's not ''throwing shade'' at Origins at all? How do people manage to take a quote from a video game and pretend it's directly insulting anything?
@nocturnal03 to be fair I say it's throwing shade/ fist at the first blight cause like the top comment said it was 100 years and flat out slaughter fest as the gray wardens didn't exist
It's not shade at all, in the 5th blight they never even made it outside Ferelden, meanwhile this blight took down Orlais, Ferelden, AND the Free Marches, not to mention everything happening I Tevinter, Anderfels, Antiva, list goes on. This was absolutely the worst of the blight besides maybe the very first that wiped out the Dwarven Empire
@spacejesus6581 to be fair the 5th blight is the speed run blight pretty much the easiest one they could lose and beat. I need to watch a proper playthrough of veil (and actually pay attention), but seems like this one the blight is like the least of their problems with 5 other sh$ going down lol I legit didn't know it was another blight cause they went f it the gods will do themselves
If only we could kill Taash earlier…
I honestly see this as fine, I think we should give the Elven gods a chance myself...

How do I achieve this best ending of the game? Just don't do the companion quests? Nice...
is ther an ending where you can sacrifice yourself but keep most of your companions alive?
The best ending for the Unicorn Age!
Most of these deaths are really stupid. Lucanius grabbing the staff instead of stabbing Aelia; Taash just standing there unarmed, then deciding to pick a random weapon instead of her own and simply taking a blow (not to mention Morrigan acknowledges the Dragon King and decides to attack way later) and, the best of all, Emmerich slashing with a magic staff.

Question of the Day: If this game followed the typical tradition of Bioware games allowing players to make the choice on who to bring/who to sacrifice (here is the question) - How many players would have killed off Taash or not let it join right off the bat? I would bet nearly all of you would have done either or lol. Talk about a forced character.
this is why I love Larian, they had awareness enough to let me ruthlessly murder and decapitate karlach instead of recruiting her, if this game had the same option for trash it'd be a solid 6/10 instead of a 4-5/10

Damn even this is boring
I managed to kill only 1 of them (and I was sad because Assan was 1 of the 2 characters I actually liked) even though Bellara got blighted, which should've been a death sentence considering Wesley (Aveline's first husband) died within the hour back in DA2 when he got infected.
(Sarcasm) Idk what I would've done without Bellara pointing out the obvious or what's 2 seconds away from happening, truly a loss her death would have been
