The original 1982 TV series was a lot better . I've tried to find it but can only find 6 (very poor quality) episodes which seem cut down from the version I remember. Like Hellspite I thought it ended with Vera Lynn singing, the episodes I've found don't. I'm sure there are some John Baron scenes missing too. The guy on the motorbike andyrowlands50029 remembers was the terrorist disguised as an undertaker (played by John Cleese) racing to stop the bomb being cremated. The Quark bomb is hidden in a coffin which falls out of the hearse. The army believe it's the Generals coffin so take it to the crematorium. Just as they discover the bomb and stop it from being cremated, Cleese crashes through the door and lands on the bomb, sending it into the incinerator and detonating the bomb.
This is not the same thing I saw on tv years ago. I remember a completely different ending; someone is racing on a motorbike to prevent the apocalypse and keeps getting delayed by all manner of difficulties. The version I saw was a serial on tv in several separate episodes.
That saxophone solo at 2:14 is something extraordenary, it even trumphs Tim Capellos "I still believe"-tunes from the "The Lost boys" ..
"They don't make em like they used to" certainly applies to this movie. 😂
And we are still at it
Great to see this for the first time, and to see so many 80s actors and comedians. Alexei Sayle can't do accents... but he can do Russian!
Excellent script, amazing comedic actors, and a tiger kills the bad guy. If you don’t like this movie, go away.

Have you found it yet?!
@@nibbin_official9877 it is here on YT in its entirety. just type in the title and add movie
Why do I remember this finishing with the bombs going off and Dame Vera Lynn singing We'll Met Again?
That's Dr. Strangelove.
Not even great actors and comedians can mask a mediocre script.

It was the same writers but a completely different things. Not really supposed to be compared.
