Oh my gosh yes and the complete stamina wheel. Also I played this and was like, "I SHED BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS GETTING THAT SWORD!" Also a few horses. A few horses died while I was trying to get to the sword. RIP Horses.
13:58 Link expresses a bunch here, even though he’s not verbal. You can hear his dread about not being able to protect her, then his surprise at her mysterious disappearance, and then his surprise at his rescue
Poor guy has been through it. Been asleep for 100 years only to find out his fiance and all his friends are dead. Only to get his arm burned off and his divine beast scraped
One nitpick I have, Link should’ve worn the champion tunic from the last game for the prologue as when Link wakes up at the Sky island, he doesn’t have his gear and we get the same Champion Leather in Hyrule Castle. Would make sense why Zelda in her diary made it sound as though she made an upgraded champion armor and hid it as a surprise for Link once their adventure is over, and with Ganondorf critically injuring Link, his old tunic would be all torn up; making a good send off for the tunic he wore since before the calamity.
I was thinking the same thing! He should’ve worn his tunic from the previous game at the beginning. Making it even more rewarding when you find the new tunic as well as all the bargainer statues in order to get the old tunic back.
A detail I never picked up on until recently is Zelda is wearing a special version of Link's black hylian hood, probably because she reworked it to her fashion sense at their shared house.. even Zelda steals hoodies lol
That Ocarina of Time Ganondorf theme that plays with organ for like a second as Ganon speaks was above awesome!! Also, if you listen closely when Zelda disappears you can hear the sound Navi makes when she flies on Ocarina of Time!!! Usin Nostalgia to tug at my heartstrings!!
Shattering the master sword had to be one of the wildest moments in Zelda ever. Probably the definitive peak of when Zelda really got crazy. I mean, the sword has been a symbol of strength and unwillingness to fail since its creation, hell, since before it was even purified to its current state. It was THE weapon of Hyrule. Nothing could compare! So for it to shatter on impact with a weakened version of a gloom tendril from Ganondorf, it really set into motion just how dauntingly powerful he was, so much so that not even link in peak condition and with the physical advantages he had could stand up against him, literally since he fell to his knees. If it weren't for the fact that this was a game and Link didn't talk, I wouldn't doubt his internal dialogue would've been nothing more than "Did that just happen..." Or if I were feeling humourous, it would've been "Fuck not another one!"
1:41 When Zelda says people have been falling ill after coming into contact with the gloom, Link just looks at her like, "What!? That wasn't part of the plan can we go back now?"
@@ThatSceneWhen lol literally everyone does. But everyone praising totk but it's legit same story outline/mechanics as botw and it's great but shouldn't be considered anything other than that cause its an established formula

Because I'm the last game she was relatively monotone, in this one her life is in imminent danger so she is scared henceforth the added emotion sounds new
OoT Ganondorf does not have rivalry with Rauru in OoT. He would’ve exploded with rage at a Hylian with the Master Sword due to him underestimating the Hero of Time.
its funny to think, to ganondorf, he only probably perceived those thousands of years in a second or less, so he went from hearing raurus last words and then seeing exactly what rauru prophesied infront of him not even mere seconds later
Nintendo seriously missed a great opportunity here. With TotK being a direct sequel to BotW they could've gone the Mass Effect route. Have everything you did in BotW carry over into TotK and have a unique playthrough every time you restart the game.
Is there a way to get back to the passage they are in? With the statues and all? It looks like there is a bombable wall at one point. The royal hidden passage looks nothing like this passage, unless I'm looking in the wrong place....

I love that Link goes from fighting some random keese, to encountering the grand daddy of evil himself a few moments later.
“Grand daddy of evil” 😂😂
Not even at full power
Grand daddy of evil is quite possibly the greatest thing I have ever heard
Basic enemy to Final Boss right away.
The music buildup as you get closer and closer to the demon king is so good. The uneasiness that puts on you is perfect, imo.

Dude, I still remember it.

"A blade that shatters so easily against my power cannot save you from me" has got to be one if THE MOST menacing lines a villain has ever said.

Still chills in that cutscene 😃 Best opening of Zelda ever 👍
Right 😁
this is one of the best intros to a game i think i’ve ever played
Without question.
Breath of the Wild’s opening is like Zelda 1, and Tears of the Kingdom’s opening is like A Link To The Past.
That moment when the sword shattered literally turned my whole world.
Ikr?! Like I worked so hard for that sword, died a couple times, almost rage quit a couple times... it's immediately taken away.😩
Made the most important weapon in the franchise look weak
This is without a doubt the best Zelda of all time. Can't believe anyone can play this game and walk away not liking it.
Nah.
@LITTLE1994 cuz you on that bullshit.
Bro I kinda agree, but I prefer breath of the wild. But the two have the same type pf gameplay
Not going to lie. The mummified Ganondorf coming to life and talking creeps me the fuck out.

It’s because Zelda had different voice direction, and I dig it. Direction is almost as important as casting after all.
People get older so the voice changes. She was younger doing BOTW
I would think her voice would be a bit higher in the first game...being trapped inside Ganon. (Those Blood Moon things probably didn't help.)
