This fact gets lost on many.....and they don't actually know how funny him playing a hardass judge really is.....miss the fun loving, dopey Herman Munster....I also grew up on The Munsters, but didn't discover Car 54 until about 10 years ago, when the MeTV thing was being watched in our house.....good times, good times.....
A jury is critical to justice. A judge can be corrupted easier than a jury. I was foreman on a jury. That process gave me great faith in the legal system.
I have served on a jury for a criminal case, one time for a civil case, and on a grand jury that handled many, many cases in 2 weeks. I was amazed at the dedication all jurors had to each case.
In the US you can choose a judge verdict instead of a jury verdict. It's called a "bench trial." In many, many jurisdictions, however, judges are elected, so bench trials are entangled with the judge's re-election politics.
@51:30 When she goes on and on with technical car info, it seems unrealistic, but I knew a guy in high school who LOVED Commodore 64 computers and he would go on and on during lunch about stuff like that. Also, my friend Marie is like that about insects. Nerds gonna nerd.
This is one of our favorite movies. My husband and I LOVE this movie. And I've been waiting for 3 days to see ya'lls reaction to it because I'm not a 'member' (can't afford it) but LOVED your reactions to this. It is such a great movie. This shot Marisa Tomei to stardom... That scene where she is talking about her "biological clock" ticking is an American movie iconic scene! 🙂 Loved this. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite movies. Also one of my favorite reactions. Watching you guys enjoy it made my heart happy. Really enjoy watching your channel.
YES!!! One of my favorite movies, even as an adult. I don't even celebrate Christmas (although I am a Christian), but there really isn't that much holiday stuff in it anyway.
Ahhh yes the classic. Been waiting for this reaction. Actually the movie as well as being a great comedy portrays American courtroom procedure very very accurately. In fact many law schools use this movie in instructing their students in procedure. Now you dudes need to check out 12 ANGRY MEN and A FEW GOOD MEN
I’m halfway through and loving the reaction. I highly recommend you watch 12 Angry Men. It’s from 1957, black & white, but it’s a timeless film about justice and the jury system. It’s thought provoking but also entertaining.
I loved watching this alongside yall hahaha i love the movie already and it was nice to see others enjoy it too! Thank you for sharing w us Habibi Brothers :)
Wait a minute. You think it’s easier to influence twelve people than one judge? Nah I would rather have twelve of my peers deliberate and reach a verdict than one judge.
Ah. When movies were cheesy but awesome. This was the last movie that was played in our local drive in movie theater. Sure do miss the experience of chilling out in my car watching a movie. ❤
A jury can be a lot more fair than a judge, who may be too harsh, or too easy on criminals. In a jury all 12 people have to agree on a verdict or it's a mistrial. Having normal people decide a verdict can be a lot more fair than a judge sometimes. It just depends. But there would be a lot more corruption and unfairness if every single case was just by judges. Also judges are elected, so if people dont like them, they can vote for a replacement every few years
@@dumy187 Mostly. In most states, the automatic right to a bench trial only applies if the defendant faces the possibility of jail time (which is certainly the case here). Minor crimes that would result in a fine or other penalties don't have an automatic right to jury trial and the defense would have to file a motion to argue why they should get one.
Fun fact. This movie is a favorite among lawyers and is often quoted by them. It's very realistic in terms of court procedure, and that's why all of the scenes with Vinny versus the judge are so hilarious because he practically did everything wrong.
My auntie, who was brutally murdered when i was 4 looked almost exaclty like Melissa Tomei. She was beautiful inside and out! This was my childhoods bestfreinds' dads favorite movie. He had it on vhs and watched it every year and laughed like it was the first time he watched it. 😂😂
Muhammed Ali-a jury system is much much harder to corrupt than a single judge. (However in some cases the dependent does have the right to choose either a jury trial or a trial by a judge.) One of the keys of the American justice system is the defendant I'd always presumed innocent until proven guilty. In contradt to the Napoleanic code (as you know used by the French) where it is the opposite, the deferent is presumed guilty and has to prove their innocence. The Justice system is one of the best things about America.
Love this movie! You guys should check out The Devil's Advocate with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. It's sort of about lawyers, hehe. Al Pacino is amazing in that movie
I think the jury system isn't the way you think it is, at least not in the USA. Sure sometimes it is easier for the government or a prosecutor to win with a jury but sometimes it's a lot harder. You guys should check out the OJ Simpson case and the documentaries they made around that, which goes into detail on the process.
To be fair to Vinny, most people don’t pass the Bar exam the first few times. It is extremely difficult. Then there’s procedure, which you learn at the law firm where you intern. The movie is very true to life.
One of the crew had gone to law school and so this film has some very accurate scenes in the courtroom. This film is interesting because there really is no bad guy (other than the two guys who really did kill the clerk). Everyone else is just trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. There's a lot of humor that you're not getting because you're not aware of some of the regional stereotypes in the United States. This movie is hysterically funny if you get it.
US Law schools actually watch this movie because it's the most accurate depiction put to screen of how the trial process works. Also. . .its funny as hell
It's kinda weird given it's a comedy, but this movie is actually one of the few legal dramas that's actually pretty accurate legally. The arraignment process, the reference to approving an out of state lawyer, the conversation about discovery, and Vinnie's cross examination of the prosecutions witnesses is a masterclass. And the prosecution dropping the charges when it becomes clear that the boys are innocent, rather than doggedly pursuing the trial (which any competent prosecutor would absolutely do). He wants to move on and start building a case against the real suspects that were just caught. Obviously, it's still a comedy. So there are things that happen which wouldn't happen in a real court room for the sake of a gag. And it still has people wandering around in the well of the court room and walking right up to the jury or the witnesses (which you're absolutely not allowed to do), but for the most part, it's still a heck of a lot of more accurate the a lot of serious legal dramas.
It’s one of the best comedies of the past few decades. It was great to see someone like Joe Pesci playing such a funny character. In many of the films I’ve seen he was so scary I might have pissed my pants if I’d met that kind of thug in real life haha.⚛❤
Great reaction one of your best to date 👏👏👏👏 But you guys need to get the hell out of Algeria. Inshallah. The corruption there has led you to unfortunately see too many conspiracies in too many places and instances that just aren't there. Peace be with you dudes.
If they kept the receipts, that would make sense, and be great evidence. But nobody keeps receipts unless they need them to get reimbursed for a business trip or for taxes.
State Board exams are usually difficult. It's not uncommon for even the smartest in class to have to take it multiple times, or to score high enough to just pass.
When it comes to the jury system you have to remember that the US were colonies under the rule of Britain that had a King. Without juries the prosecution had a lot more power to convict innocent people. Starting in England and the colonies a jury was seen as an important counter to the power of the king or overly powerful government.
Jurors are not chosen completely at random. A large pool of people are summoned for jury duty. There are preliminary questions that weed obviously inappropriate or biast individuals out. Then, the lawyers get to take turns eliminating individuals they think would benefit the other side or be unsympathetic to their own side. In this way, 12 individuals are chosen from many, who are likely to be fair and appropriately equipped for the case. If a juror is found out after, or during, the trial to be unfairly biased or corrupt, it's a BIG deal. In the least, a mistrial, but the case can even be thrown out and there can be jail time for the jurur.
Trial lawyers build their reputations on wins verses losses. As they gain a good reputation, their status increases as well as their hourly rate. Caring too much about winning can backfire on t hem if they are found to be omitting or falsifying evidence, witness tampering, or jury tampering. These are illegal and can result in the loss of their license, fines and jail time. A judge can overrule the jury if there is a justifiable reason to. He or She puts their reputation and job on the line when they do this.
I find it extremely annoying that they censored her entire body throughout the whole movie. I noticed it was only when it was a woman that It was censored.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
To be fair, passing the bar is hard. It is not that unusual for people to take it multiple times. 6 times is a bit much though lol. My Dad was a lawyer and this is his favorite lawyer movie by the way.
Remember guy's, all they have to do if it's just a judge is corrupt one person, on a jury there's 12 people and they have to all agree so you have a much better chance of being found innocent. In my opinion anyway
I know lawyers who consider most of this movie a great presentation of legal procedure. I do know judges (a few of whom I helped get elected) and should ask them what they feel about it. By the way. Good reaction. Not your best editing.
Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role! Fully deserved too IMO.
snl implied that she didn't.
Joe Pesci wasn’t acting so he couldn’t win. He was just being himself
Vinny is so good in court because he is constantly trained on how to win an argument by his girlfriend. 🤣
You two might enjoy "Twelve Angry Men".
The Judge is Fred Gwynne who I grew up watching in the T.V. series Car 54 in early 60s and in The Munsters in mid 60s which were Comedys.
Upvote for The Munsters😂

hey, have you guys seen home alone? an american christmas classic; very little censoring needed

Great suggestion! Yes. Very clean.
Great suggestion!
@@1969lumbee let's keep this convo going; maybe they will watch it... i foresee many laughs
Classic Xmas movie!
5:09 Yes sir, he cusses alot, but PLEASE consider "Home Alone". Amazing Christmas movie with GREAT Joe Pecci character, and no cuss words!!

State Judges are NOT always elected - each State has their own 'rules'. Federal Judges are always appointed.

Y'all really need to watch 12 Angry Men to learn about the US jury system. It's also time of the greatest dramas ever made, so there's that too

So this movie gets shown in law school because it's I believe 96%-98% accurate to what goes on in a court/the rules that have to be followed.
Censoring shoulder blades is a little ridiculous even for the most conservative crowds.
