    This week, we visit Jo's beautifully renovated 2 bedroom condo in Joo Chiat. Jo, an interior designer, transformed her 861 square feet home into a stunning space in a mid-century modern styles.
    As soon as you step into the condo, you'll notice the microcement floor that makes the space feel more seamless and spacious. The main colour theme of the condo is green, which happens to be Jo's favourite colour. You'll see this colour throughout the space, including the half-coloured painted walls.
    One unique feature of the living room is the bay window that Jo converted into a TV display console. She used a fluted glass panel to allow natural light to still come in, making the space brighter and more inviting. The balcony was then transformed into a dining area with the hanging &tradition flowerpot lamp becoming the focal point of the living room.
    Jo created an archway above the balcony to soften the look of the space, and extended the curtains all the way up to make the space feel taller and more spacious. In the kitchen, large format tiles were used to reduce grouting, and a nifty pull-out countertop space was added to maximise functionality.
    The common bathroom features a cleaner look with unmatching mosaic tiles and microcement for the shower area. In the master bedroom, Jo built a platform to create more storage space and tiled up an awkward column to make it a main feature of the room. The master bathroom has a completely different look with subway tiles covering half of the space.

    I call this moddy-warm space. The consistency in using warmer colours spaces of interaction, both physical(tables, working surfaces) and visual(tv space), is amazing. Doing this while offering a completely different feel in each space is grand. A perfect experiment.

    Wow this is next level. I see a mix of the old and the new, everything implemented in a subtle and legant way. It's a very unique design, in a sense it almost looks unreal, like a movie set. It's like taken out of Blade runner 2049. This is mostly because of he lighting and color pallette. And the sufaces! Wtf look at those surfaces! There's a mix of textures, most of the elements are matte and smooth and then there are some glossy elements like the lamps or the chrome of the chairs. Everything seems to be chosen deliberately, even the kitchen utensils. This is not just a cohesive design of a place, it's a curated experience.

    It makes a change to see a space that isn't a series of white and beige rooms, although I don't care for the green that makes some of the less well lit rooms, quite dark. Love the dining nook and the complete separation of the kitchen, complete with door. I like the creative solutions best of all, but overall it's a moody vibe that doesn't work for me who is mildy depressive.

    Really cool looking home. What's the weird plastic bear figure decorations on the shelf? I keep seeing that pop up in homes on this channel but I never see it in North American or European homes. Is it a Singaporean thing?

    • @ezekielk.3629
      @ezekielk.3629 Год назад +1

      Its called Bearbricks and it comes various sizes from small to 200% and 1000% which could cost up to thousand of dollars (SGD) depending on design & artist collabs

      I am not really a fan of this Bearbrick as in my opinion it dosent fit the aesthetics of most homes. If the owner is a hobbyist or collector and displays many Bearbrick pieces, then thats fine though.
