My favorite tool is called "Learn Korean with GO! Billy Korean"

That's actually a pretty good idea. I've been playing Stardew valley in Korean, but it's been hard because I realized I haven't actually learned any farm related vocabulary yet. Hopefully the Sims will be easier to understand
He posted a video recently about how his kid became fluent partly by playing Minecraft in Korean. I wish I was that brave. 파이팅!
@@hopegate9620 yes, I think it would help, to learn the name of many action, and since you can choose what to click in, ir would be easier.
However 😅 I've already tried putting a game called cats and soups in Korean, but I get lazy and just click based on the locations and don't actually read 😓
(And fun fact, the game is actually Korean)

Hi Billy, I really do love your little skits in these type of videos. I was a big fan of Mirinae when they first started their lessons (and you didn't have to buy a paid subscription) but they are still good at unpicking a whole sentence in Korean, particularly if you want to understand song lyrics 🎼😀
If you're a beginner and want to look up information about conjugation/etymology I personally like Wiktionary, however I always double check with another resource (I use Naver's as well)

Update: I just started using Anki and really like it! I love the cycling frequency feature. I'm gathering vocab from comics/informal written works and the vocab mixed into the curriculum I follow, and creating cards along the way. Thanks for this recommendation!! :)

Huh, it's the opposite for me :P
I think that at certain points in language learning you hit a plateau of sorts, and progress is harder to achieve. In those instances I’m tempted to go back to Japanese (I can read hiragana and katakana and know a few kanji and basic grammar) but I really just want to stick with Korean and reach a decent conversational level. My progress has definitely progressed since I found Billy so that’s been super motivating.

Do you have recommendations for podcasts on AudioClip? It’d be super helpful to have suggestions based on levels! I’m intermediate in reading and writing, but it’s difficult to find podcasts that will help get my listening up to that level. (And thank you as always for your videos!)
i use teuida for speaking practice. memrise is good coz it has videos of native speakers on the courses they make and you can do pronunciation and listening practice and i also use it make my own courses to memorise vocab and lyrics. using memrise made me keep forgetting how to spell memorise tho lol

I'm transcribing manwhas and unknown words/expression I find in novels into a text file to improve my typing speed.
I use Naver dictionary daily, and it's fantastic! Any recommendations for offline dictionaries? Particularly for Android phones? It's awkward when I want to look up a word I hear or read and I don't have good cell coverage where I'm at.
Hi Billy. I have been watching a Jong Dojoeng and they mentioned 2 treatments for acute nephritis. They were in romanization but as a Chinese medicine user I wanted to know if these are things you can convey in English? simigihwan and eumyangssangbongtang . I'm very curious as I have been using a formula for myself called You Gui Yin. Thanks if you or any one else can help.
I am currently trying LingQ for more reading practice for my level....that has always been something I struggled to find in my journey...reccomended? Hehe
I learned English really well from a very young age by watching TV shows in English (with subtitles in my native language) and also by playing video games in English, most notably Pokémon. Switching the language in Genshin Impact from English to Korean, though, makes it that I have no clue what's going on and what my objectives are... I wonder why it's so much more difficult now. I guess I should immerse myself in Korean a lot more, but also, immersion is very tough if you just can't get a grip. Not sure how to tackle this.
I think adults need a foundation in the language before they start benefiting from immersion. Especially if it’s a distant language from your native one and Korean probably is if you’re watching this.
I sort of agree, I think Immersion when you're brand new to the language has different benefits, like just getting used to the sounds, intonation and pace of a language. I don't think you'll acquire much vocabulary that way, but I noticed that if I heard a word a few times and then later on I found out what it meant I would acquire it much easier@@paulwalther5237
As the other commenter said you need a base of at least a beginner level a trick I do to make it faster and immerse in what I like is choosing a topic of my interest and collecting all the vocab that might come up if you memorise them with some of the most used grammar rules you will be able to understand quite a bit at first and it get better as time passes you can search new things that pop up as you go but the key is to stick to one topic at a time and move to another that shares similarities
@@mimim.s77 I think the topic idea is pretty good. Back in the day when I read books to learn German I stuck to the same author for a while before switching to a new author. But stayed within the same genre. Even just switching authors it felt like my German had gotten a lot worse. But if you’re watching RUclips videos or maybe reading RUclips subtitles just sticking to one topic could work great. I’m going to try that for Korean. RUclips seems more efficient than novels.
@@paulwalther5237 actually I did the same I do believe novels are the best for improving vocabulary the issue is that even within the same genre you will find the writer going on on many different topics at a time which is overwhelming for beginners so it's better suited for intermediate especially those who hit the plateau and couldn't get better at least that's how it was for me
안녕하세요, i’m learning both Japanese and Korean at the same time and one tool I love is Tanoshii Japanese, basically a dictionary that gives context and conjugation. Even reverse conjugation searches, to help me get the dictionary form. This is basically what I’ve struggled to find for my Korean learning. Which one here do you think is the closest?
as someone who had learned japanese for over ten years, i wish you good luck in learning both at the same time. there's pros and cons but prepared to get mindfucked a bit lol
also, if you have android, highly recommend takoboto dictionary for JP i'm also searching for a good korean dictionary app because naver sadly doesn't have one (it used to but then they just made it an english dictionary app only :s)
Honestly, I'm watching Go Billy is due to me feeling stuck with what I should study next, or should I just revise the grammar I have learned in the past 8 months. Recently, I'm feeling demotivated and stuck altogether but I still listen to Korean podcasts and started watching variety shows which I didn't like at first but they're working since I can recognise most of the words and basic speech endings. I want to acquire the speaking and listening skills more. So, what should I do Billy, please help?

What about Daum? I often find Naver a bit clunky and weird in comparison, but maybe I should reconsider.

Eh. Depends on what you’re using it for. Grammar rules, sentence formulation doesn’t happen but I need the constant fast exposure to Hangeul letters and vocab that it provides. Other tools are higher pressure higher stress for me at least.
