The "ASF" version Tisas just released has a more correct ejection port and are now parkerized.

While the ASF was not around when I picked this up it would be another good buy it’s slightly more expensive and closer to the Remington than the colt but not something you could go wrong with

That's the one I bought, in 9mm. These Turkish 1911s are the real deal. Mine was smooth as butter right out of the box, with better quality machining work than my $800 Remington R1.

Mine is the latest incarnation but is not an ASF version (I don't even know what that is). It is a MUCH more accurate representation in that the chamfer on the magazine well is not there (square edges like the original), the text on the left side of the slide is not there, it says "United States Property" on the right side of the frame where it is at on the originals as well as M1911A1 U.S. ARMY on the right side of the frame where it is supposed to be. The gun is actually phosphated instead of Cerekoted. It has no MIM parts at all. I got mine last November during the Black Friday sale for $300. It too has been flawless, of course.
It also has no problem handling Federal HST hollow points. I chose them of course for their expansion, but also the tips of them are not cone shaped. They actually have more of a radius towards the tip, close to the radius of a FMJ, but with a hole in it. I figured that would make it go up the feed ramp better than cone shaped hollow points. I know some 1911s have a problem feeding hollow points in general, or certain hollow points. Not this Tisas though.

They did do a great job with the update when i filmed this they were not out yet, but i picked up the new one and will get to an updated comparison. Yup unlike the old guns these will feed hollow points no problem. so far i dont think you can get better bang for your buck in the under 1000$ 1911 game right now.

@@cloneordie3828 - Yes, I actually had zero interest in owning a 1911 or a .45 at all. However, a year and a half ago, when I learned about this Tisas model, how they are made (machined after hardening), their dependability, and the price I realized I couldn't afford to NOT own one.
My wife has a WW II era M1 Garand for the connection to her late grandfather who was part of D-Day. I thought this gun would make a good companion to it as I knew I would not be spending the money for an actual surplus 1911.
And yes, it is nice having a wife who wants and shoots an M1 Garand!

Is this the different between us army and us government? Army being more accurate?

@@alexace5584 - On the originals, the only thing on the left side of the slide is the patents for the gun. Since the patents cannot be put on the Tisas made gun it is best to leave it blank. That is how mine is. Also on the originals it might say the name of the manufacturer and might have "Cal. .45 AUTOMATIC."
In the generation of Tisas reproduction before my gun it has M1911 A1 U.S. Army rolled onto the left side of the slide. On the originals, this is rolled onto the right side of the frame, just in front of the take down pin. This is where it is at on mine.
Also on the right side of the frame on the originals, just behind the take down pin, it has United States Property rolled into it. Mine is also done this way.
Also on the originals, the serial number is rolled into the frame right below where it says "United States Property."
When I say "rolled" I am referring to the method that the letters and numbers were pressed into the gun parts. They weren't "stamped," but instead passed under a roller that the raised numbers and letters on the roller would "press" them into the gun part instead of the impact method of stamping.

Use 230-grain fmj. That's what the 1911 used during two world wars, Korea, Vietnam, and Grenada.

I’ve got about 5,000 rounds through mine, (yes I’m one of those weirdos that keeps track of round counts). It runs like a champ. I actually carry mine. I carry it for the cool factor, the reliability, and so I don’t wear out my expensive Colts. The new Colt’s Government model are great, but they come with the wrong grips and a flat plastic mainspring housing. Put on the correct grips and a steel arched mainspring housing on it and you have a brand new 1911A1. The new Colts run great.
