With this "social distancing" going on, its a perfect time for exploring! I'm going out today to do a little geological trip to a local cave. I have not done ant serious collecting in over 10 years and since I have the week off of work, time to enjoy some 'me' time. I love your videos and collection! Stay safe as well! Best Wishes Emma! 😊
Greetings! I was lucky to find your videos tonight as a fellow avid collector of rocks, minerals, fossils, and seashells. I converted a bedroom into what I call my personal Natural History Museum back in 2011, and it doubles as a plant conservatory with lots of supplemental lighting. This room has shelves and tables with hundreds of rocks, minerals and fossils - all labeled individually. But I added a theme to the display (Enchanted Forest) and weaved in drift wood, faeries, sheet moss, sculpted wooden mushrooms from Bali, etc. into the display. All of my minerals and rocks have small labels in front of them giving their name and place of origin if known. The living room has a seashore theme with several hundred mollusk shells and coral. I also have seascape paintings on the wall and carvings of shore birds on the coffee table and floor. But the shells have a hidden number label attached to them, and I created a separate Word document that lists that number's scientific name, the geographical range of the species, and other info. I have too many shells to create labels in front of them so I can save space. Off topic, chalcedony is pronounced kal-sed-oh-nee - at least here in the U.S. Thanks heaps for your videos, luv.
Those display cabinets are goals😍 I keep thinking I have enough storage for my stones, but it never lasts long! I'd love to just have all the walls be shallow shelves😄 Lovely!!
Hello 👋🏻 ! Thanks you for this cool video ! I really enjoyed it ! You have a beautiful collection of amazing rocks and fossil ! I hope you will keep filming such pretty videos !!! Good luck ! 😌😉
Watched this with my seven year old boy/girl twins and now my daughter, having also heard about Mary Anning at school and a visit to the natural history museum later, thinks geologists are the coolest people ever and wants to become one. Thanks :-)
oh my .. you are an insipiration. I wish I could go back to my childhoon and keep searching for beautiful and colorful rocks everywhere. Oh I miss that so much. You brought back all those memories. Thank you so much and keep making such great videos.
I really need a cabinet like you have. I have an old rotating Timex watch display case that my better specimens are in. I don't rotate it because of what might happen. Lol! And I like to collect faces, too. How can you just leave it there. I collect hearts also. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your fossil prep videos.
I loved this video! I also have been collecting since I was a kid and I have amassed quite a large collection as well. Unfortunately most of mine is in boxes😢. I love those cabinets. I can never find anything narrow like that!
Just found your channel and I'm so glad that I did. I run a rockhounding channel finding Agates and Petrified Wood, so It's always nice to stumble across a new RUclipsr mineral junkie! You've got a very nice collection.
I really appreciate this video I just started a gem collection my grandmother who sadly past had many gems I had some beacuse my mom gave it to me so far I have some pearls, Ruby’s (my fav is ruby), amethyst, pink zucon (yes pink zucon is one gem not too) and a lot of other stuff! Thank you for this video It really helps me!
Nice little collection you've got there, Emma! Your enthusiasm about fossils and geology is infectious; something that is not often seen in someone your age. You said you collect most of what you have. Have you ever had to opportunity to collect in Scotland? Great minerals/fossils up there if you know where to look. Also, since you enjoy fossils, check out the Michigan Rocks channel for fossils and other neat rocks from the upper Great Lakes region of North America. Stay safe young lady and Happy Holidays! ;-)
Loved the vid dude, what a great collection , you’ve inspired me to display more of my ever mounting collection of shells, rocks , minerals and metal detecting finds , I’ve subscribed, I’ve got many strange rocks that look like heads and faces too, I’m amazed your as crazy as me , brilliant 💀😎🌴👍
I don't know a whole lot about rocks/fossils and minerals but I think they're really cool. I've got a tupperware container full of shark teeth and small rocks, shells and fossils, that I found at a thrift store. Some nice stuff. I've gotten more interested in rocks, as a buddy of mine and I, are looking into making guitar picks out of stones and copper (not combined, on their own). I have a beautiful piece of ocean jasper that was made into a guitar pick by stoneworks guitar picks. Let's just say I've "misplaced" it lol. Lastly, a shark tooth makes for a decent guitar pick, as well. Great sound. You have an amazing collection, Em! Thanks for sharing your shelves and your passion for rocks etc.
Emma: I would organize your collection in the following way: (1) rocks and minerals by type: sedimentary, igneous or metamorphic. (2) shells: gastropods, pelecypods, echinoderms, etc. (3) fossils: vertebrate, invertebrate (subcategories cephalopods, pelecypods, gastropods, echinoderms, etc.), plant, and other. Organized in this way it would be much easier to locate specimens. Also, I like your idea of thinning out the collection. You really do have a lovely collection of specimens!! I envy your cabinets!!!!!
Lovely collection P.S. it should be noted that sand tiger shark teeth, and, anterior teeth from goblin sharks are very similar in appearance. There are slight differences that can be observed to distinguish the two, there are numerous articles available online that detail the differences if you feel the need for certainty in this respect. 🙂
I loved your collection, it's so full of stories :) Why don't you build a shadow box to house the small little shells and fossils you have? I have seen some while planning how to exhibit my (yet quite small) rock collection, I think it would help you a lot
Hi! I love collecting rocks and I have a box of rocks and I was just searching rock collectors and I found your channel and i watch this video and i subscribed because I love rocks.
most of mine go in the aquarium, 90% of my finds are lepidodendron and stigmaria with one calamites which is on the kitchen windowsill, have a few cool little crinoids that look like mini shark jaws in one tank.
Don't know if you ever found out about the shell near 12:30 but I think it's a wentle trap... At 17:15 I thought you were asking what type of face it looks like, not the type of rock, so I came up with it looks like a giraffe that just got it's little toe stepped on.
Great collection Emma I tried to uploads my pine cone for you from your previous video and also the megalodons tooth but unable to do so by RUclips loving lockdown only way it could be any better is if it was with you x
I’m not sure if that’s an aloe vera plant behind you, but I kept thinking it was gonna move 😂. But, pretty cool collection. Some people have action figures/models on display, but she has the Earth 😎. Let me stop being a fool, lol. Peace. ✌🏽
Lovely collection. My long lasting dream to find an ammonite but at the moment i'm working to much to go for a fossil hunt at the moment. Although i live in Havant so the closest site is not very far. If somebody could tell me a site which is quite close i would be so happy 😄
Haha! I've heard chalcedony pronounced about five different ways and I don't think any of them are really "wrong". Personally, I pronounce it "kall-sed-uhn-ee".
Thanks to the lockdowns I discovered my neighborhood is built in top of a massive petrified forest and there is pet wood just laying around everywhere.
Your mom: “Why is your backpack so heavy? Are you carrying rocks or something?
You: Funny you should say that..
Haha 😂😂
@Alfonso Lopez hahaha I imagine
Jesus Christ, Marie! They're minerals!
Seriously, you have so many good collections of them!
With this "social distancing" going on, its a perfect time for exploring! I'm going out today to do a little geological trip to a local cave. Enjoy! I hope you find some good thing ♥️ thank you, you too! ☺️
I was starting to bug out into a anxious mess. This is very calming.
Aww you got this! glad you found it calming, sending hugs 💜
Wow! I just pick out a couple of rocks from places I visit and have them in a small glass jar, that’s pretty much it. But this is really cool!

Earth sciences make me feel so small, in a comforting kindof way. "Life finds a way" and all that.
Am already loving it❤️🍏
GREAT COLLECTION!!! Thanks for posting this. Would love to see more of your fossils.
Those display cabinets are goals😍
I keep thinking I have enough storage for my stones, but it never lasts long! I'd love to just have all the walls be shallow shelves😄

Beautiful and well-sorted collection. Great job. :)

Lovely collection

That is the trouble, with mineral collecting, they seem to breed, very nice collection
Beautiful collection 😊
Emmaroooooooooooooooooooooo! Now you have all this time free, you can sort your cabinets out! Extra long vlog maybe?
most of mine go in the aquarium, 90% of my finds are lepidodendron and stigmaria with one calamites which is on the kitchen windowsill, have a few cool little crinoids that look like mini shark jaws in one tank.
Sand Tiger shark. Depending on the age of the formation you got it from and details of the teeth would help determine the genus.
Don't know if you ever found out about the shell near 12:30 but I think it's a wentle trap...

I'd love to know where you got your cabinets from? They are perfect for a mineral collection!!
They are brilliant! I got them from Aldi a long time ago unfortunately 😅
I'm subbing how haven't I found this channel
Très Jolie Collection🔬🍀🎬Alex le Silex France🍾🙏🌌
cool rocks
You should do them on the table!!! So they can focus easier and it’s a easier set up
I like it 😲 great 👍..
Super em ta vidéo 😊😊
Great collection Emma I tried to uploads my pine cone for you from your previous video and also the megalodons tooth but unable to do so by RUclips loving lockdown only way it could be any better is if it was with you x
Lol ...the 4th face rock you showed .. reminded me of the metal giant guy in ,, judge dredd, .. where stallone shouts i am the law ..
Nice collection
Human nesting behaviors are absolutely fascinating.
Outstanding video. I am doing a lot of lawn work and replacing screens that presently look bad. Be safe....
Thank you 💕 good luck! Stay safe also ☺️
Fantastic collection! Where do you usually search for these lovely rocks?
Thank you so much! I collect wherever possible 😁 but my favourite place at the moment is the Jurassic Coast!
The face rock at 16:56 looks like a storm trooper from star wars.
Ah, retrospective cataloguing. A job that takes forever, and there is always the risk of being distracted by old friends.
Great collection Em
...and love your hair still as it is..
...you look like a goddess
...stay safe❤❤❤❤💘
Aww thank you very much ☺️ stay safe also ♥️
@@EmGems 👍❤
I have a dinosaur fossle. It has a nice red color to it with a rough texture to it and I was hoping that you would know what type of dinosaur it is?
Loving your collection 🤩
Aww thank you so much! 😁❤️
@@EmGems 🦴🦴🦴💫🔥🧠🤠👍🚘
Good gosh I love rocks and I have a big purple crystal
I'm pretty sure the small white shell is a wentletrap.
You do have a lovely reflection. Star quality even.
That was so adorable how you pronounced Chalcedony 💚
I love the way you pronounce it, but the correct pronunciation is Cal-Said-Uh-Knee
did someone build the cabinets for you? or did you buy them somewhere? would love to have some like them!
Question what is a good place to find cool looking rocks or minirals
Hi. Just wondering if you had any ideas on how to display polished gemstones with their names in a box frame? Thanks.
❤️
I’m not sure if that’s an aloe vera plant behind you, but I kept thinking it was gonna move 😂. But, pretty cool collection. Some people have action figures/models on display, but she has the Earth 😎. Let me stop being a fool, lol. Peace. ✌🏽
It sure is an aloe vera plant 😉 has a mind of its own for sure 😂 I collect all things Earth indeed 😍👌
Cal - said - O - knee = chalcedony. lolol But some pronounce the 'ch' like with malachite or chalcopyrite. There are no rules. lol
You need to show more of your collection, and I mean "public". You are good with us, on camera anyway. Thanks for sharing.
Aww thank you! I'm a geology teacher currently so no one can escape me talking about rocks 😂🙌
@@EmGems Keep it up!!!
Beautiful collection! Anything from Whitby?
I love your videos. I've only just discovered you. Have you considered getting a rock tumbler?
I would really like a video about mineral, rocks, etc. names;)🍃
Hahah 😂
rocks !! new sub !!

Danggggggg
Fossils
I have a question, could you tell me where you identify your rocks? I love rocks and minerals and would love to start a career of it!
A mixture of books mainly 😊 you can use the key features of the rock or mineral in question to identify what it could be!
Nice Malachite..
Do you have any fushsite or blue apatite? Becaus I just found some a couple months ago.
First comment in 2 weeks. Nice collection
Thank you :)
I have 52 and my favorite is my heart-shaped hematite
You or your gym yourself 🔮💎💜💚
Hi Em stay safe and well 👋
Thank you ❤️ you too! ❤️
No worry s Em .. I still have trouble with the Latin name of plants .. and I'm a landscaper .. lol
Nice collection u have, where did u got all those stuffs? It looks like u are high-art, it can be seen from ur collection. Warm regards from Indonesia
I found most of it 😊 but some were gifts 💕
Cool great collection, very impressive. Isn’t obsidian a mineraloid, not a true mineral? Still beautiful though.
I like your displays and display cabinets. You should work in a museum. Or somewhere with people.
Thank you so much!
Igneous rocks are my favorite
Woo! I love them too 🙌
Thanks to the lockdowns I discovered my neighborhood is built in top of a massive petrified forest and there is pet wood just laying around everywhere.
