    @2:55, if any player does something like that today, the announcers would go crazy over it. Plus, there would have been 10 replays from all angles right after that. But look at the reaction of these announcers : " YES, CLASSIC JORDAN !" and that's it !

    People don't realize how much Pippen no-showed against the Pistons back then. If Jordan could have gotten ANYTHING out of him in 88' and 89' the Bulls likely make the NBA Finals.

    • @boogieloo1831
      @boogieloo1831 6 лет назад +12

      HoustonIsImmortal - agreed. But he was a rookie in '87-'88 and it's understandable. Pippen wasn't an MJ and needed to develop. Clearly, Pippen's entire game was modeled after MJ's and learned from him throughout the years - both on offense and defense.
      Too many idiots today think Pippen was equal to MJ on both sides of the ball, which he was NOT. But that's the way revisionist history works. Anyone who watched back then knows MJ was considered the best player and defender in the game - he was head and shoulders above everyone until his first retirement.

      HoustonIsImmortal in 1988 and 1989 he choked against them, so Pippen showing up wouldn't have helped. Maybe in 1990

    • @lurking0death
      @lurking0death 5 лет назад +1

      Pippen had to face Adrian Dantley HOF, Dennis Rodman HOF and Mark Aquire all-star...is that era. That's a tough assignment for anybody.
      And the Pistons were at their peak, voted to be one of the best teams in NBA history. Pippen was under the gun.

      Likr steph said maybe in 1990 but not in '89, no way. The '89 pistons are a top 5 nba team of all time and I know the bulls won 2 games from them but after the establishment of the Jordan rules after game 3, the Bulls had NO chance of winning. Similar to the Bulls in '91, the Pistons that year were extremely hungry for it all.

      HoustonIsImmortal Pippen wasn’t even a starter in ‘88, and ‘89 was the Jordan PG experiment. Phil Jackson took those talents to another level🏆

    @ 5:30, you get an insight of the bad boys philosophy. Laimbeer fouls Jordan and immediately after, Rodman hit him with a dangerous elbow to the neck. Part of their philosophy was that they knew the refs wouldn't have called 2 fouls on 1 play, so they would just go for it. However today, Rodman would have been out of the game for doing something like that and fined for it. I doubt any of today's players could have played in this kind of atmosphere. Specially Lebron and Kobe who don't like physical plays.

    • @jamalgunter1451

      +Air Magic and neither did jordan. Love MJ, truth is that he cried like a bitch on every single play. Im in my forties, everyone tries to make it seem like those players were so tough. truth is, they were the same prima-donna bitches that they are now. kobe and lebron would do just fine in any era, same as many players from yesterday would be just fine now. its still basketball and its not a sport dominated by tough men. All of those guys (the tough men) are in the: NHL, UFC, PRO Boxing, and the NFL.

    • @jbobbster
      @jbobbster 8 лет назад +4

      +jamal gunter Magic knew how to give as good as he got. He gave his good friend Isiah some hard fouls in their finals meetings. And Jordan learned after 1989 that in order to wiithstand the constant pounding, he would have to build his body up, which he did. Yeah, back then, players were tougher and could actually play physical defense, without worrying about ticky-tack fouls for breathing on somebody. Guys wouldn't be going to the line 20+ times.
      Lebron or Kobe went down the lane back then, against the Bad Boy Pistons or the rough and tumble Knicks, they would have been sent back hard. And all these one-and-dones in the league today would be going home crying.

      jamal gunter
      You're not in your 40's. You're a in your 20's and you grew up watching Kobe and Lebron crying like bitches to the refs and trying to pretend to be as tough as Jordan but none of them are and none of them will ever be. You humiliate yourself by exposing yourself. You don't know shit about the history of basketball besides the 2000's years..Kobe and Lebron crying like babies shit. Kobe cannot get into the paint and yelling as if somebody was kicking his privates parties. Lebron is even worst than Kobe. Besides the journalists of ESPN and TNT (where you got your education I guess), it would have never crossed the mind of anybody to compare those clowns/bitches to Jordan : the toughest player of all time mentally and one of the toughest physically.
      Lebron would have been shit in the 80's and 90's. Not with his style of play, that's impossible. He wouldn't have the calls that he gets in the 80's or 90's. He wouldn't be in the paint (the paint was always congested in the 80's and 90's as opposed to the post Jordan era). Now, Kobe played 2 years in Jordan's era and he wasn't shit in this era. That's just a fact.
      It's very revealing that you say basketball is not a sport dominated by tough man. That shows that you are a liar when you say that you are in your 40's because basketball is not dominated by tough man ANYMORE. It used to be in the 80's and 90's. I don't care about the sports where athletes take dope like crazy. NHL tougher than nba players? Give me a break...

    • @jamalgunter1451
      @jamalgunter1451 8 лет назад

      +Air Magic no need for anger. I am in fact 43 years old, born in 1972. As much as love basketball its most certainly not the toughest sport played anywhere. Like many of our contemporaries you remember it the way that you want to. The truth is that I acquired this view from having watched the game for more than thirty years. like you, I am also bias toward the players that I grew up watching. Most of what you do like about today's game is that you don't or can't identify with the guys who play it. Its not really about toughness or rules.

    • @TheLionaaa
      @TheLionaaa 8 лет назад

      jamal gunter
      I never said I was biased and I believe I'm objective and I'm a student of the game. But you can think whatever you want about me. Just like I don't think that you're 43...

    Just look at the dirty tactics by Laimbeer on Pippen at 8:53....he closed out on the shot leading with his foot so that Scottie would twist his ankle landing on it. Just criminal stuff trying to purposefully injure a player. Rodman sneaks a nice little elbow in the back of Jordan's head at minute 5:12 as well.

    • @boogieloo1831
      @boogieloo1831 6 лет назад +2

      Audiognome - a defensive system developed by these "Bad Boys" Pistons to handle MJ who was a force of nature unlike anything seen before. Essentially, the "Jordan Rules" stated -
      1. Triple team MJ whenever he has the ball
      2. If he enters the lane, put MJ on the ground physically with elbows or any other means necessary.
      3. Never let him go baseline where help defense is impossible.
      4. Make everyone else on the Bulls beat you by denying MJ the ball.
      5. Physically intimidate not only MJ but Pippen as well - Pippen was a young player who wasn't as developed, not only in terms of his game but in terms of mental resilience. They beat on all the Bulls physically but especially MJ and Pippen.
