René Hake: United's NEW Assistant Coach 🇳🇱 📈

  • News has broken that United are set to add another HEAD COACH to Erik Ten Hag’s backroom staff.
It's not a common theme in football but it's a huge trend in other sports - NBA, NFL, NRL, etc. - for proven top coaches to be brought in as assistants not just to bring their expertise & qualities to the current management team but to also allow for succession/contingency plans.
Back in April, when major doubts began to arise around Ten Hag’s future with the Athletic also confirming it was all but decided to part ways with Ten Hag, contingencies were still being considered due to the fact United still especially didn’t have Ashworth or Berrada in office to finalize such a big decision.
It appears as though that's when they began to consider the option of revamping the backroom coaching staff and bringing in someone they trusted who could step in if needed. It seems like that plan is now unfolding.
This approach serves as a solid contingency plan: having more coaches allows for a better distribution of duties and provides players with diverse personalities and voices to interact with. It's a ready-made backup plan and, in my opinion, a good pivot after deciding not to let him go.

It's like appointing Mulentseen/Queiros. Hopefully we're going down the 'specialist coach' route. So one coach focused on defending, one coach focused on attacking plays, etc. Fletcher's role is just going to be 1st team transition coach for youth players and maybe new senior players to help them settle in and get up to speed. And we could easily have more than just 2 of those appointments. Evans as a player/coach is a possibility, I'd love to see Mata come back as a technical coach.

Fab literally said on one of the last RUclips videos that he put out that Inneos have been prioritizing a new contract ext for EtH to show him their backing and during their meetings that they were going to be asking him and involving him in these new assistant coach positions to the point he even says EtH called Ruud himself and asked him to come join him and he has also been involved in this new coach because he was literally described as a version of Ten Hag style manager....ppl keep pushing this mad narrative about some contingency plan when Inneos are literally backing him and giving him a new contract...Eth is the manager and he will finally have a proper structure and team around him with a good environment that he will be able to thrive in and United will be able to finally be headed in the right direction for the first time in over a decade!! I think, considering what ten Hag was working with at Ajax he's not going to be too bothered by this.
I know he is something of a control freak, but if that is controlled through proper demarcation, and he is not having to fuck about dealing with shit that distracts him from doing the things he is good at, he's smart enough to take that.
Let him build his profiles, print his folders full of plans, colour code them, and date stamp everything for individual training and development plans along with practical group integration.
And then let him implement them and run the team.
Everyone else's responsibility should be making sure that there is a squad of fit, healthy, well disciplined, contented players ready to do their jobs, and making sure that no bullshit gets in the way of delivering on the field.
Everyone has a role, and everyone knows their role, and what everyone else is responsible for.
Streamline internal communications and processes and have accountability.
This is what INEOS do with their sports brands.
    United is their biggest.
Don't be at all surprised if some of the shit they learned from running an F1 team, or their cycling team, or the New Zealand fucking All Blacks, and start implementing NEW styles and systems to football.

It's about leaving no stone un-turned in allowing the players to be as good as they can be.
We can't go out and buy a completely new team - so the squad evolution will take time.
If we can make the players better and performing at their highest possible level - we'll be more successful on the pitch. And importantly grow the value of the players in the squad - so they can be sold and make money if that's what the club wants. It's basically running the club professionally.

Seems to me like they're looking at the American football model, where you have specialised coaches for different phases of play. Ten Hag being the main man, responsible for setting the overaall style and picking players etc. Van Nistelrooy the attacking phase coach and Hake the defensive coach.
We have had this sort of thing before. When Quieroz came in, he coached the defence to become probably the best defence ever seen in the premier league.
It'll be interesting to see how it works in practice. It could be United taking the initiative and leading the way once again, or it could end in disaster. Lets hope its the former!

I’m afraid No player in the club it telling howison anything about ETH. Yes we’ve all heard he’s cold because he said he’s not the kind of guy to give hugs and tell players he’s proud of them. But this is second hand from Rio who we all know talks out of his ring after the sheik Jassim fiasco!

Hake is making a step sideways probably to make a career step upwards later. You have to understand that the Dutch League has a clear top 3 and a cultural difference, these typical Eastern style manager are judged to not fit in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, Eindhoven maybe but also a best of the rest manager like Ron Jans never got through that glass ceiling either. Ten Hag going to Ajax was the exception and a lot of people in Amsterdam doubting the choice. If no Bundesliga club in the bottom half is taking a gamble, that's were it stops for a manager like Hake.
So for Hake this is an opportunity to get out of being provincial manager with trying to get into the conference league as the highest ambition. Too many cooks spoiling the broth? Ten Hag is the chef, chef means boss actually, the chief cook. He has achieved more, is naturally his boss. Part of Dutch football culture is also to be extremely democratic up till the point the decision has to be made, than the discussion among equals is done and Ten Hag decides.
RvN didn't feel ready to be manager of PSV but helped the club out. It didn't work, he doesn't seem to have the analytical football braind for today's managers. I doubt he still wants to be the gaffer in the future. He seems to have become a more pleasant less selfish character, he is soft and well spoken, he has got a gorgeous beard, I can seem him being happy simply helping young players to get better at a very high level.

People in the comments talking about signing players just need to stfu,we’ve been signing players for the last 10 years and we are still shit so just have some patience let them sort out the structure of the club and then sort out the correct signings, success comes with structured business

Very much one ten hags ajax teams favourite ways of playing out and gives variety in the build up. Everything I've seen about him was that he is very tactically flexible but as he's been at a lot of relegation sides with the task of making them overperform he has naturally focused on defense first at these places.

I just hope that they also have man management skills as Benni seemed to be the intermediary and have the soft approach.
Footballers arent mentally built the same way anymore & can go in their shells with angry coaches!

His record as a coach is truly brilliant, isn’t it? Mid table Dutch clubs his entire career and he’s meant to revamp our failing defensive structure. Let’s see, I’m very doubtful

@@OserojiemenKingIt really does beg the question why no big Dutch side like Ajax PSV or Feyenoord went near him then. My point is his track record looks uninspiring. And apparently he’s very similar to ETH which isn’t a good sign. I am usually very optimistic. But the last couple of weeks at the club RE the Ten hag decision hasn’t restored any confidence in me going forward

in NFL dont they have head Def coach who has coaches under him and head Def coachsame and Head coach who basically works with the Def and Att coach .. could we be going for something like that ..
It could be something like this with each coach having coaches under them, like STE sed more individual training makes sense when ETH has talked about not having enough training time in the past.
