I grew up in those areas and CHOSE to not remain a poverty stricken loser. We couldn't choose at which "rung" on the "ladder of success" we were born into, but we have the capability to move up, one rung at a time! In all my years, living on the Cape Flats, there's one thing that seems to be missing in those communities' culture - PURE HARDCORE "TAKE NO PRISONERS" WORK ETHIC!!! Even if you don't have financial or academic opportunities, achieving your very best scholastic results and thereafter outworking everyone else in the great employment-arena, will drive ANY poor person and their yet unborn offspring into the next sphere of prosperity. So, everyone, reading this - I CHALLENGE YOU TO WORK YOUR FINGERS TO THE BONE (EVERY SINGLE DAY) AND SEE HOW FAR YOU'LL PROGRESS IN LIFE!!!
Gangsterism is a culture. One of the ways to brake it, is to fight poverty. If there is a way out for those kids, the culture will change. This is because gangsterism and drugs are the symptoms of poverty.
Liezel and Tanya because of you guys I miss the mother city you hot really currently working in Saudi Arabia # crime free country can't wait to return 2 South Africa soon I pray every day for South Africa to be an # crime free country
I totally disagree with alot of what is said. I come from the Cape Flats and attended schools in the area. Many of who i grew up with have become professionals in society. I believe its the individual's choice's made not to get involved in illegal activities. We grew up with parents who were forced to work and we were home alone after school. It was our choice not to be outside when gangsters were around and when they were fighting. Nowadays, negligence plays a very big part in the unnecessary killings of innocent children. Very small children are left un-supervised and gets hit by stray bullets.
Well said! I know of many friends and neighbours who lived in Manenberg, whose parents started a club in the area. The boys were trained to play soccer and the girls were trained to play netball. Funds were raised by all the parents, and the money was used to purchase uniforms for the soccer and netball players. At the end of the year, all the children were given gifts. Those children became professional doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, auto electricians, tailors, dressmakers and the list goes on and on. Many of them immigrated to Canada, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Singapore, U.k, Italy, Ireland, and they are doing extremely well! Gangsterism is a curse! Live a life pleasing to your hardworking parents! Stop listening to gang leaders. They are ignorant due to the drugs that is killing all their brain cells! Why would any human being want to live a life of crime? I dare all the gangsters to stop using drugs and get yourselves educated!
They all seem to be proud of what they are doing even though it is so bad for them is like they are actually doing the right thing to impress themselves in doing wrong with things
Just like how proud politicians are after setting up legislation and laws excluding us from Economic freedom and killing many of our people and get promoted for excluding us...
I wonder if cape flats or any of these areas will ever see decent citizenship where people focus on living clean, have future goals that do not include drugs and blood. It’s sad that a large proportion of community live such a dangerous life
The funny thing is that the culture does not originate from the coloureds... The so called "sabela" is an African term and many of the words used are no way related to the culture of the coloured people but are African terms relating to the African language... It was adopted in prison to survive and the culture was not created by the coloured people... It's sad to see how the stereotype is wrongly directed... With the current situation in RSA, coloureds are now using it outside of prison to make ends meet... We need 2 wake up as to the owners of this culture who is now rubbing off onto the coloureds... Down with BEE... Jobs to be given to the best person for that job... It is just unfair as to what is happening... Proudly coloured and we should care about our people... The plan is to wipe us out... Wake up... And the interviewer said the term so easily from his tongue as it is his mother tongue... Take note people
I am charmed by Liezel....She is tooo damn hot I always say Coloured ladies are super stunning with exceptional body structure. They are too cute I must say
I used to wonder about that myself. I used to be told it had something to do with Capetonians eating too much fish. Until I researched it myself many years later. Click the links below.
