You have to declare the goods that you bring into Canada, when you come with a PR card there is no immigration, and you can exit the line directly, however as your mother is coming for the first time, you need to fill in all the goods in detail. The officer might have been rude to you but it is expected that you carry all the details with you and be ready with the details.
I am Jiya n me, my husband n my 2 kids are in ongoing process of PR n we are going to reside in Calgary only. Good to see your blogs n we get more connected n motivated to move as early as possible.
You always have to declare the value of goods bringing into Canada, even if you're doing a day road trip to the US. Frequent travelers have to follow it as well. There are limits associated per individual.
This was great to know something that we should take care of. Thank you Nishant Sir, Tanu Mam n Aunty ji for share such important information questions regarding immigration, layover n Airport.
Yes one should carry all the original bills from the jeweller. If you don’t have the bills then get your jewellery valued by any jeweler to get the certificate
At Heathrow none of my circle’s parents or not even mine has ever spent more than 5 mins to get immigration clearance on family visit visa. It is nonsense to be honest. No one bothers to stop people for no reason. Probably Canadian security has plenty of time and few flights a day. Heathrow will choke in an hour if they spend time to ask people this level of questions.
Did you not use the immigration kiosks available ? You just need to scan the passport and answer a few questions. It is a matter of five minutes in the kiosks.. and you don’t need to talk any immigration officer in that case.
I thought kiosks are only to print the digitally filled declaration form only. No? Especially if you are coming as a visitor you anywaz would have to go through the immigration officer. This is what my understanding is. I might be wrong
I don’t think it is correct.. my parents have visited us, and they just had to fill details in the kiosk.. and no need to talk to any immigration officer.
I totally agree with your wife's comments about French. I was in Montreal for five years because my HQ is in Montreal. The treatment I used to get from the French was very rude, and literally they hate immigrants like us, mostly who don't speak French. They are racist, dirty & narrow mentalities. I used to live in the core downtown, but still get offended because of the French language. They are not friendly at all. So expecting something from them would be a big mistake.
They hate English because English changed the world by becoming official language of the science, business and discovery and defacto second language of the world and thus crush ability of French to rule the roost despite being superior language.
You should learn to take the good with the bad. If you feel that the Canadian experience is that bad, you are, of course, free to leave. Hope the grass is greener in Bharat😊 Cheers!
Thanks for your suggestion!! But we never said we always had a bad experience. This was the first time. Hope you are having a great life wherever you are 😊. Cheers!

My experience was the same. I will go back to India after PGWP. No plans to stay here at all!
now imagine someone going to your country and not making the effort to learn the language after five years...
Keep up the great work Nishant and Tanu ❤
