How North Wildwood Rebuilt Their Beaches

- I have gotten so many questions on how North Wildwood is going to rebuild their beaches. For those who don't know, almost yearly the city of Wildwood needs to replenish their beaches. Recently they have been taking sand from Wildwood and bringing it over to the North Wildwood beaches.
Yea it sounds strange so I decided to make a video about it! Enjoy!

They made the beach in Wildwood smaller while making the beach in North Wildwood bigger. Both needed to be done. Can't wait to check it out.

When we drove by a few weeks ago they were banging steel walls into the beach.

Great video. How often is replenishment needed? We've been coming to wildwoods for abt 8 yrs usually stay in the crest. Our 1st yr in NW just got back and we love NW so much better. I'm curious abt the history of the replenishment how far it dated back and how often it's done. Mother nature can't be defeated.

Nice. Some of the best shells I've gotten were from a dredging restoration years ago. Sad part is they'll be doing it again
I think they will be dredging again in the next few years.

Great video. Looks like you need a haircut, Joey. 😉 Funny thing, we dig holes and push around the sand when we play at the beach. In fact, the boys have toy construction trucks. hhaah my wife reminds me everyday that I need a new haircut asap. I hope sometimes in June I can get one. hahaha. That's awesome that I can give the boys these videos to see these trucks on the beach. I loved paying with those kids of toys as a kid. My parents built a sand pit in our backyard back then and I would be in there for hours on end. I am glad you enjoy my videos! I hope you guys are safe and sound! When do you guys plan to come down?
@@WildwoodVideoArchive Not quite sure. I think it's going to be a "game time" decision come August. We actually didn't make our yearly rental at the end of last season since both me and my sis were planning to change jobs and we didn't know what our new vacation schedules would look like. Then Covid hit. Unfortunately, my Dad caught it and passed away a month ago. We'd love to come down and honor his memory, as he was as big a Wildwood fan as any of us. We just have to see how things progress these next few weeks and how safe things 'appear' in late-June and July.
I was in wildwood at thanksgiving and there was no beach at all it was just ocean and I can't wait to go next weekend!
The city did a great job on getting the beaches ready for the summer.

Hey man im coming to wildwood mid june do u believe rides and arcades will be open by then?
Dankbuds was down there today! Other than a few masks and only food open you would not know it was weird. Hotspot outside seating right next to each other and some places open and seating inside!🤦🏻♀️💁🏻♀️

Always better to pump dredged wet sand instead of this technique. Pumped sand is wet and naturally compacts better.
Legally we can't dredge. We have been fighting the state over it.

I can't imagine doing the repetitive job of sand movement. Joey: when the beach opens up to the community, please inform your viewers how the social distancing is progressing.

Why would they want to make the beach any longer? I hate that long walk all the way out to the ocean. I have pictures of me playing in the ocean under the boardwalk at 21st street around 1974 or so. I'd rather have the ocean closer not further away.
Hopefully trump wont come back to taint the area
