      Finally watched it last night, movie fucking rules. Maybe leans a wee too much into the chinatown structure, but i guess that was the point. I love chinatown though

    OK. So my wife and I JUST watched movie TODAY. HBO. Never even HEARD of this movie. Edward? You are one of my favorite actors. Believe it or not, and I'm sure that you've HAD to have heard this before, but I had to remember your name as "Ralf's neighbor." Good job, Guy. The Illusionist? Loved it. American History X? Loved that one, as well. Pride and Glory? Seen it more than 10 times. The struggle with right and wrong. Always makes my heart tender. Loved it, too. Continued success. Love the work. Humbly, Mark.

    I was looking for movie to to watch on Amazon prime video, I watched an old Be Affleck Film The Paycheck, then I was looking for another suspense movie, suddenly saw Motherless Brooklyn, I thought might be an ordinary love story or boring Documentary. I don't know I saw Edward's face in the thumbnail.
    So I wanted to give it a try because I trust this guy Edward fuckin Norton, damn perfectionist.
    The storyline & script was amazing, more amazing was acting of every character. Edward Norton was extraordinary as always. It was a long movie I felt like ordinary 90min movie. When It was finished I felt Really good. It was worth watching an amazing movie. Didn't feel boring for a second.
    I like this kinda movie, not avenger or iron man, or star wars. I love realistic, more practical stories, which reminds me I'm human. I've to be a person with good ethics and morality no matter what the situation is.

    JRE I’m a huge fan of yours, and that’s not a term I use lightly. Mr Norton should step up and do his moral duty and financially support the family of FDNY Lt Michael Davidson. Mr Nortons production company illegally altered the filming location, and caused a fire in which the Lt was killed. It’s time for Norton, Willis, and the others to do what’s right, and moral.

How do you know this to be the case. Your right…just curious how you know? I wish there was a way to make things right. Seems corruption won this time unfortunately.

    It works in a few parts, but I didn't enjoy the film thoroughly. I can tell an actor, made this film. Some scenes went too long. Radio head, it doesn't fit. I remember seeing Norton in The Score, and I saw him do similar ticks from the character in that film, then this one. I think the film needed a cleaner direction, the Mashup didn't work. And I believe the movie was shot digitally, I understand it may have been cheaper in this way, but shooting on film would have fit this type of film better.

      @Marten Dekker I don't understand how someone who could come up with a juvenile response like yours could become the arbitrator of taste and define what is and what isn't art? But since the music gods did rule in your favor i would appreciate if you would enlighten this 55 year old born and raised in New York City man to just what is art?

    • @brickwalljoen.y.c9514
      @brickwalljoen.y.c9514 4 года назад

      @Marten Dekker funny it just says comments not opinions but we'll let that side! Wow I didn't know you were so cultured my bad Marten but it's a shame that your ignorance is on display because anyone that knows art should be aware that it is subjective by nature! I got a kick out of your description of feeling assaulted by its horribleness I hope you found a safe space and the time out did you some good!I'm sorry that you didn't have the privilege of growing up in NYC( by the way what cultural mecca did you grow up in) during the 80's and witnessed the birth of NYHC and watched it grow from a grass roots movement to a world wide scene and birth its own genre of music in the process! and maybe if you had the chance to see bands like Agnostic Front-Madball-Murphys Law and yes SOIA rip it up on the Stage of CBGB's and around the world you would be less judgemental and would now have a open mind to what constitutes as real art, by the way i would like to thank you for those links that you sent i have been suffering from a case of insomnia the last few nights but after listening to those links i am sure I will have no trouble sleeping tonight.

    • @brickwalljoen.y.c9514
      @brickwalljoen.y.c9514 4 года назад +1

      @Marten Dekker I have a life so I don't have much time to waste so this will be my last say on the matter! I may have grown up a working class New York City street kid and my favorite musical genre is Rock-n-Roll and all the sub genre's it Birthed! But I do have an appreciation for all music after all I am fortunate enough to be a life long New Yorker! You know the city I am talking about not only the greatest city in the world but the unofficial capital of the world! Have you even watched Shakespeare in the park or been to a opera at the Met or even heard Blues and jazz in a intimate club like the blue note! I have and that excite's me as well but Punk Rock and Hardcore is my music of choice like I stated before i grew up working class when New York City was a War zone and I am a product of that environment! And by the way I tried to see things from your point of view but I couldn't get my head that far up my ass! In closing Marty you have not offended my sensibilities how could you after all you don't know what those sensibilities are you judged me from the start after reading my comment not my opinion on the JRE clip from one of his episode's and with that plus the ignorance of your rebuttals that tells me that you are a shallow narrow mind person so like we say on the streets see ya wouldn't want to be ya.

      Most of the main cast in the book have this 50's feel to them that makes them feel out of place in the 90's. Which is intentional by the writer but Norton had concerns it would look weird or farcical.

    You know, I really don’t believe a lot of the power brokers in Hollywood really understand or cherish acting talent. I believe Edward Norton is constantly fighting this dysfunctional Establishment to attempt to create a project (movie or TV) that is true to the true art of creativity in acting and writing. It’s akin to Trump fighting the Political Establishment. Establishments want to maintain their power and will ultimately attempt to marginalize people like Trump and Norton who have a more constructive and positive road to take.
