I have this with an LG monitor. I live in Spain, humidity is high very often. When the humidity is around 70%rH or more, the OSD randomly pops up. As soon as my space is ventilated, the humidity drops and the OSD stops popping up on its own. Averagely, 65%rH is low enough to prevent this problem.
I tried removing the control panel, it made no difference, I'm quite certain humidity is a factor.
It's worth getting a cheap hygrometer and put it near your PC equipment for easy monitoring (no pun intended).

I have an LG flatron monitor which popped up randomly the menu on and off randomly and rapidly, so I plugged out the side buttons, but no success. Then the power started going on and off randomly... which was much more irritating.
So I checked again and an SMD diode on the power button board was blown. Soldering another one from another power button board or any kind from a less than 5V device will do the trick.
I hope this helps some people

    Your videos are great. :)
    I have a 20" Samsung Syncmaster 2032BW monitor.
Today when I turned it on, although it showed an image, it constantly showed the MagicBright items being selected automatically one by one without stopping (affecting the brightness of the image as you might expect), other times it did the same thing but with the items in the main OSD menu itself, and other times it also did the same thing when the monitor was detecting the mode, whether digital or analog, sometimes choosing one and then choosing the other!
In other words, it seems to me that it goes into a loop (sometimes for quite a few time) within the option that is active, be it the OSD Main Menu, the MagicBright menu or even when detecting the mode (whether analog or digital).
Another thing that sometimes happens (but doesn't affect the image) is the blue color of the power button, some days it's on, other days it flashes, and some days it doesn't even light up, even though I can turn the monitor on!
Can you give me any clues as to what could be causing this problem with the monitor?
    Many many thanks.

I have a Acer 1715b little lcd monitor and i found that only pushing both DOWN and power buttons i can turn the screen on and off?? The Power button and all the others dont seem to work alone and i had this apart and cleaned and checked the little board and main board and pins ect and nothing is shorted. I guessing a corrupted main chip or firmware? Other wise the screen works 100% when you give it the input, it goes green and turns on and amber when input stops. I might have to use a third party program to change brightness as the menu buttons dont work to adjust brightness. This is from 2005 and changed all the PS caps as picture looks great and may still have plenty of use in it. I love to get into the service menu to find out how many hours this has had but dont know code for front panel and buttons wouldnt work anyway! haha.

Turn the screen on. Then unplug the power from back for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. If the screen comes on. That means the monitor keeps memory as too what state it was last. Monitors tend to stay on once you turn them on they just go to sleep when you are not using it

I've removed the button board on side, and the symptoms are stil the same. I've cleaned the button board contacts and no changes, I've done all power cycle attempts and removed batteries from remote. nothing.
I've clearned all connetions with spray electrronic cleaner - no changes.
I'm able to move the menus side to side and scroll to sources menu, but it is as iff the cursor's buttons are stuck down, wanting to scroll to the left. I have to hold the right button down to scrool the menus over to "Settings" and I try to get into that menu and nothing happens. menu gose away.
so I hit the manual button on menu it pops up again and I struggle to get it to settings menu and I try to click on that and it goes away- no menu- cannot get into that settings to do factory reset. I can somewhat scroll thru input menu options, but let go of button and it scrolls to the left again. ITs erradic.
The remote allows the set to turn on, but remote has no responsive features working, and does not turn off once it's already been turned on.

That is... For now, I suspect the scotch's glue to interfere with the electronics (maybe it was acting like capacitor and was starting to conduct electricity) and was the cause of this problem :/
Edit: not a glue/scotch problem : the problem appair again (less frequently). However, the power led is less bright, and is strangely blinking (should be always on when screen is on). Probably a capacitor failing in the control unit :/

Hi my main output of my pc is supposed to be vga but right now im using dvi as temporary. I can't change dvi to vga since the buttons of my monitor is broken. Should I buy a new one or get it fixed? Thx.

It depends on how old the monitor is. If it is old i would just buy a new one. Even the chepest new monitors are fairly better then old ones. My rule of thumb is 5 years old replace it if it is not a easy fix

The problem seems to be with the main board, buttons bord is only a remote for the controls. Something is loose like a cap or chip

Try removing completely BOTH power button and the side buttons (if separate boards). If it fixes it’s one of the boards. Otherwise you have to check or replace the motherboard

@@sraros That is correct, I would look on the motherboard to see if you have any bulging Capacitors. Caps can cause that problem as well.

Best solution is to leave your monitor off for a while to cool off. Then turn it on and adjust the settings, after that unplug from power. Then unplug the button bord from the monitor. That should prefent setting feom changing. Not the best sollution but it works
