Could you imagine if a regular bank had fees that worked like ETH gas, you send someone a check for $20 and in order for them to cash it they have to pay $30. People would riot.

Guys just move to Binance chain!! You have to be idiots for use ETH and pay 50 to 100 dollar for a transaction. I moved 2 weeks ago and huge gains there. Eth is dead till 2.0 is out.
Folks be aware that there are some transactions that have time limits or evaluate other conditions that mean if it takes too long before being executed it will fail - taking a bunch of gas with it. An example of this is swap based DEXes where they typically have a "slippage tolerance" and deadline. If the price moves more than that amount before you Tx starts, or it takes longer than the deadline to start it will fail. Uniswap defaults to 0.5% slippage tolerance and 20 minutes deadline. And yes as Guy mentioned completely low-balling the gas hoping it will execute overnight can leave you with a stuck transaction and unable to start any other transactions requiring you to unstick it with more gas or cancellation - both of which will cost you. PS. The other way to avoid gas fees - just don't use Ethereum based protocols. Last month I added liquidity and staked for Mirror protocol on Ethereum - it cost me $60 in gas to set everything up. When I did the same thing with Mirror on their native Terra blockchain (that is based on Cosmos) it cost me just $0.002 in tx fees plus a $1.2 swap fee.
Migrate to Layer 2! I did so last night and I’m able to pay 0 fees to stake and receive rewards. They have a section on it in synthetix.io. You will have to pay gas to get it into L2 but once it’s there, you pay 0 fees!
7:13 no it's not bad, as you mention later you can replace stuck transactions with empty cancel transactions *but* if you want to save even more gas you can avoid having to do a cancel tx all together. If you use a wallet like metamask you can go into the settings and enable the ability to customize the tx nonce, then when you create a new tx manually, enter the nonce of your stuck tx and your stuck tx will be replaced without wasting any gas on a cancel tx.

The thing that makes me most bearish about ETH is that the cost of using the system is directly proportional to the value of the asset and gas fees grow with the network's popularity. L2 and ETH2 can't come soon enough
Thank you, Guy. Very informative. I've been buying most of my coins on Binance exchange. I'm told to keep my coins in a wallet and not on the exchange. When I want to transfer to a wallet, I find that the cost is prohibitive so I've left them on the exchange. I'm now going to spend time watching and learning from the videos you've recommended in this video. Hopefully, I'll learn of an alternative place to buy coins other than at Binance. I do have a few wallets on my phone where I can buy coins from, but often they do not accept a direct deposit of fiat, hence I did it on Binance. It's truly a mind-boggling space is crypto! So much to learn. Thank you for all the information you give so freely. I really need more than 24 hours in a day to watch them all.
I tend to keep my smart contract tokens on Celsius to stake. Best part of Celsius Is that there’s NO fees when you send it back to an exchange. Yes it’s a centralised exchange but spending over £70 on AAVE gas fees is ridiculous
That won’t last. I think Coinbase pro announced they won’t be covering gas fees much longer. Others will have to limit withdrawals per month or not cover them at all.
OR just move to Wanswap (governance token of Wanchain). Almost NIL gas fee and still undiscovered. With the introduction of WanXRP (farming for XRP holders) this month, it is going to explode.
I live in a country with weak currency and I'm out of any ERC-20 tokens because I'm unable to pay 20-30 dollars in fees. It's like I have to pay an extra electricity bill every time I make a transaction. It's impossible.

Personally i use ENOL (Ethanol), UNDG (UnidexGas) and bought a few GSFY (Gasify) to earn cashback on the transaction fees and when you use Defi or make a lot of trades on Uniswap and such, it is more than welcome to receive back from all the ETH you spend.
I was quoted a $265 gas fee this morning, I didn't do the transfer. Was just trying to do a swap with metamask, ended up doing the same swap on zero exchange for a $31 gas fee, even that tho seems way to high for me. This is out of control.
UniDexGas is a protocol that gives daily capped refunds for gas in proportion to how much of their token UDNG you hold. Their token is $1000 at the moment, but worth looking into, especially if you average a single trade a day.
eth is currently near useless - wildy expensive and far too complicated for mass adoption. cancelling one's own transactions by changing nonce number on etherscan, hahahah
There's actually a way to not only pay zero gas fees, but actually make a profit on fees (without mining), using both Unidex UNDG and Ethanol ENOL gas cashback (gasback?) tokens. Denome made a video on this showing that if you use both of these tokens at the same time, you actually make back 170% of your gas.
I had 200 KNC staked which is now ridiculous when it costs 10 times the ETH to vote on blockchain governance than the reward you receive for it. I wasn't in a rush so I went for the relatively reasonable $36 slow gas fee. 11 hours later the transaction has completed! 😄
Great tips, but there are a few points that might be misleading. Gas limit is the amount of computation the Tx needs, and it is measured in, well, gas! (not Gwei). Block GasLimit is indeed set by miners, but this limits the amount of computation in the entire block (and doesn't relate directly to gwei) Metamask let's you set both gas price and gas limit. If you set the gas limit too low, the tx will rourun out of gas and fail
This just makes me want to bite the bullet, take the loss and get rid of every ETH based coin I have. Put it all into ADA. Yesterday my son sent me $3000 worth of ADA for $0.84 CAD.

Imagine just a transaction to get out your coin for wallet cost 500$ or 1 eth.. Will become impossible to get your coin even this coin value are way more than the gaz fees... For a "decentralized" systems this is becoming absolutly inacceptables... Eth will be for only wales and thats sucks. They will loose on the long run..
not sure if this matters but my tip would be to transfer to exchange that has your appropriate crypto pairing and sell there instead of on a dex to save on high gas fees.

Mate don't dog the miners. Most of ether isn't being mined in massive farms like in bitcoin. It's still quite reasonable for end users to mine it on their sick gaming rig over night etc. I will do more research to see if they are whining about such a small change for them or if it's fat cats who need to be on a diet. Seems like it could eat upwards of 20,30,40% of their profits. That's very drastic. IMO eip 1559 needs to be done after POS not before. Those miners only have so much more time to get it done.
Can someone explain this part 16:45 For example if you hold some ada or dodo tokens in metamask wallet where should you move them in advace for easy selling and avoid 1000$ gas fees at that time.

Thanks Guy for the video. Been looking for this for a long long time. A video with detailed demonstration (if possible) of cross chain transactions between wrapped assets, defi protocols, staking etc. would be of great help for the users to learn the practical usecases of crypto. currently there are no such good tutorials available in the tube.

Thank you Guy, ETH gas fee is high on Binance and I have neither seen a change in fee between times nor an option to choose how fast to execute the transaction. Does this only apply on Metamask ?

Imagine just a transaction to get out your coin for wallet cost 500$ or 1 eth.. Will become impossible to get your coin even this coin value are way more than the gaz fees... For a "decentralized" systems this is becoming absolutly inacceptables... Eth will be for only wales and thats sucks. They will loose on the long run..

not sure if this matters but my tip would be to transfer to exchange that has your appropriate crypto pairing and sell there instead of on a dex to save on high gas fees.

Mate don't dog the miners. Most of ether isn't being mined in massive farms like in bitcoin. It's still quite reasonable for end users to mine it on their sick gaming rig over night etc. I will do more research to see if they are whining about such a small change for them or if it's fat cats who need to be on a diet. Seems like it could eat upwards of 20,30,40% of their profits. That's very drastic. IMO eip 1559 needs to be done after POS not before. Those miners only have so much more time to get it done.

For example if you hold some ada or dodo tokens in metamask wallet where should you move them in advace for easy selling and avoid 1000$ gas fees at that time.
I paid 100.00 in gas fees and didn't get shit! The transaction didn't go through but the miners still got paid. Screw UNISWAP!!!

The thing that saved me a lot of money in gas fees was moving all my funds from ETH to BSC 😀 Pancakeswap is way better than anything on Ethereum
They just need to add more shitcoins to Pancakeswap

Cant agree more, ETH gas fees is insane. Fees of 125$ for 25$ transfer, ETH will fail to 00 without fees control in version 2.0
