- Can you enjoy a day out in Seattle, one of the more expensive cities in the US, with just $20? I put this budget to the test back in 2019, and now I am revisiting it to see how much costs have gone up!

Monica, Yes, please do another trip where you can spend only 20 dollars. There are so many things you can do in Seattle and it was wonderful to see Seattle through your eyes.
Definitely do it again. Or do a couples day where you and Jason each have $50 and you have to spend a day as a tourist in Seattle and you have to have a date night ending. I’d love to see you do Smith tower
Yes!!
Love this idea!! 😊
I’m a Seattle native and I have no idea how to survive a day with just $20 😂 but I’d love to see a new itinerary with you trying! Some museums in Seattle are free all the time or on certain days of the month
You should do a series like this but with a more manageable budget, like what to do with $100 for the day! Perfect for vacationers
Yes!! A new $20 video would be great! A video on your friends stall would be fun too. This was such a fun video, and Seattle is so pretty! That view of Mt. Rainier was awesome!
I love the idea of a Camilla’s family vid (& you doing a vid like that Monica :) Your Seattle baseball food places vid had this extra spark of hometown love (that I loved). I’d find Camilla’s family’s business fascinating 🤷♂️
Yes! Please do another day in Seattle and maybe factor in inflation from 2019 to 2023. According to an online calculator I found, $20 in 2019 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $23.87 today, so you could go with that and call it even.
interesting
As soon as I saw the title I thought one trip to a coffee shop would cut the video short.
Fun video, and you demonstrated something key ... inflation is very uneven across the economy, driving up prices of some things dramatically and leaving others almost untouched. Food seems especially random. Ten years ago, I could buy an apple on the street in New York City for $1. Last week, I had to choose between three Granny Smith for $3 or three Red Delicious for $2. So, no price increase for apples in ten years. Tacos did not do as well.
I grew up in Seattle it has went from a blue-collar working-class City to Tech City now and it's no longer affordable
Gasworks park was first fertilized with solids from the waste treatment plant (sewage waste). Consequently it grew a lush crop of volunteer tomato plants, and the locals liked to pick the tomatoes. Shortly afterwards the park was closed off for awhile because the “authorities” felt that the contamination from the gasworks operation made the area too toxic. Later, they had a change of mind, and reopened the park. Just thought of that because of the berry you picked.
Years ago in the Washington DC area the Beltway (495) that goes around DC started sprouting tomato plants in the green spaces between the traffic lanes. A researcher found out why tomato plants started to grow in a place where people don't go. Seems the State of Maryland took the dry sewage from the local sewage treatment plant and used it as fertilizer on the green spaces. In that dry sewage was tomato seeds that get passed through the human body as tomato seeds don't get dissolved by human digestive systems. So for years there were great debates as to the suitability of people eating those tomatoes.
Please do a video with a new itinerary! The 2019’s edition is the reason I found your channel and fell in love with Seattle 😊
I'd love to see a updated $20 video!!!
Yes, please do another one, Monica!!
Aw the guy making sure you don't forget your camera 💞
You will need to go to Costco for lunch (hot dog & soda $1.50) and dinner (pizza $1.99) Uber ride $60.
Bus cheaper
Yes, definitely a redo on the $20 Seattle day!
Love that you made this follow up video!!!
Blackberries taste sour when they are not ripped. Do taste a ripe one: extremely sweet! Usually, some families do come pick the ripe ones everyday.
I definitely want to see a new $20 itinerary video
This was a really fun video! In-N-Out will always be my favorite because they toast their buns lol 😋🙌
It’s definitely over $20 to go up the space needle because it was like $33 per person when I went in 2020 and it’s probably $35-$40 now
You definitely can eat 3 meals for $20 in Seattle:
1. I would go to Spicewaala for lunch and get one of their rolls ~$7
2. If you want some from Pike Place I would get half a sandwich from Michou Deli ~4
3. Dick's is great, but Red Mill way better ~6-8 for a good size burger
4. For dinner many options, but my goto Chicken Teriyaki from Teriyaki Madness, feeds like two people super well ~7-9
5. Breakfast would recommend Dim Sum King $1-$5
6. Also, for dinner would recommend any Ethiopian restaurant in Seattle, literally can feed 5 people on $20, my favorite is Zagol, get the Zagol combo for $18, it feeds like 4 people
Your suggestions may be great, but she did not say eat only for $20, she has to get there and do other stuff too.....
@@msbgone this was so other commenters can see, cause there's been comments on eating stuff for $20 in seattle, not necessarily for her video
Definitely do one for the winter time that's when I'll be visiting ❤
Yes Ms Church. If you think you can do better with $20 I think I'd love to see that. And I think I would also love to learn more about your friend's store 😃
Yes, please make another video of more touristy Seattle things to do/places!
I love how dedicated you are to your videos! Loved this one! This Arkansas girl misses Seattle so much. I usually take a yearly trip but have been busy this year. Thanks for helping us feel like we're there. 🥰
My friend worked to get transit (light rail and bus!) free for youth! it's so fricken cool!
Yes I wanna know about camilas business
i loooooove these videos so please keep doing them
Yes, please for a $20 video with a new itinerary. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Would like to see another video of a 20$ day in Seattle. Thanks
Do it! And maybe raise it to $30 since we know prices have gone up so much after the pandemic.. set your goal at $20 but max is $40 so u have more wiggle room and its more realistic..
I would love to see an updated $20 video
Loved this -- I'm visiting Seattle next month and I've heard it's comparable to NYC prices now so I'm a lil nervvyyy.
A video on Kamila and her family business at Pike Market would be cool.
Also yeah try a new $20 video. Bummer that taco spot went plant based.
Yes, do another video!
$3.50 to $4.50 is quite a percentage increase in 4 years...but it's probably even worse here in Australia
For $20. You just head to the winco in Seattle. There are plenty. You get 2 days of food for 1 person. You can do it. But that is not eating out of course.
My grocery bill for a week, just for me, $60. There are a lot of food!
$60, I can go 1.5 week. 1 small person tho.
Seattle Underground Tour youth tickets are only $10 😅😅😅 The adult tickets ($22) beat the Space Needle by far! I would love to see different price points $50 & $100 ($500???) and things to do as a couple.
Monica, no way can you spend $20.00 a day in 2023 in Seattle! Prices have gone up! It would be nice if you could! Do more videos on what you can get with $20.00!! Fantastic video! ✌️
I would looooove more videos like this! Makes a great travel guide for those who are trying to do things on the cheap!
Yes do a video about Camilla and her family business at pike place
Very entertaining. Here's a thought: One idea could be to demonstrate how to give away half ($20 - $10), then somehow double what remains ($10) until you reach twice as much as you began ($40). A lesson on charity. "Give and it shall be given unto you" lesson if you will. Your videos are always great to watch. Thanks again!!
Walking around U village is super fun too!
yes!! you should absolutely try the 20 dollar itinerary!
1:01 food courts @ westlake center. Gotta use debit/credit or gift cards. $20 in the Emeralds, mostly covers food scattered throughout the city. With taxes and other fees, never see tickets to museums and landmarks for "regular" adults that goes under 20.
Interesting video…I’d like to see it redid because a lot of things have changed it seems so hard to make a fair comparison with this one
yeah agreed it’d be interesting if you got the exact same things and then did the price compare instead of trying to spend the same amount
Loved it!!!!!❤️❤️
I find it funny how places don't accept cash anymore even though it's legal tender. It is more convenient though; I can go all year without using any! But how weird that one day we might be an entirely cashless society
Hey Monica! love your videos. Yes to a new itinerary for 2023. You have mad RUclips skills!
I mean sometimes I spend the whole day out and bring protein bars, my own water and maybe I'll get a coffee. Boom, less than 20 bucks! I also walk EVERYWHERE! But the prices are insane here overall.
Enjoyed the content, Monica! :)
Yes! Do it again!
9:13 No, Benjamin is on a C-Note. That’s a Jackson.
You should definitely film a new $20 in Seatle video!
This made me happy!
Make a video about Kamila’s business!
Great fun to watch this and if you do another one keep Dick's in there as it's truly affordable and delicious. I would add sitting down at a cheap place with a view just for drip coffee at Columbia Building Starbucks (40th flr, free to visit) or Lowell's at Pike Place where it is a bottomless cup (3.50 but free refills and ability to sit down at table with a truly astounding view on 3rd floor). Also bring a Seattle Times paper (2 bucks) so you aren't just contemplating Seattle's beauty the whole trip. ha ha. Cheap eats: Mee Sum in Pike Place has 5 dollars hum bows. Numero Uno Pizza in Pioneer Square $4.00 a slice, Bartells Falafel sandwiches $5.00, Banh Mi Sandwiches are usually about 5 bucks in international district.I wish you could fit the water taxi ride but its 6 bucks one way to Alki.
It would be also good idea to make current $50 street food challenge and in future for example in 2029 You could also compare the prices! To compare prices is Your wise idea!
LOL u bought a youth fare ticket as an adult. You're not supposed to do that
THIS IS SO GOOD AND HELPFUL!!
Would love a video about your friend at the market !! Interested to see how that works
90% de inflacion en 4 años, nada mal!, Argentina lo puede lograr en 8 meses, siempre ganamos en todo.
Muy buen video!
Such a fun video, thank you Monica!
do it again and then do one in palm springs to compare!!
I lived in Seattle it is very beautiful but the rain is terrible
I would like to see you try again. I think the 4.65 for the bike killed your costs.
I’m sure a lot of people are gonna comment that’s what she said about that cheeseburger place 😂😂😂
This was such a fun video! Thank you Monica!
Should've gotten 5$ margs from Rancho Bravo's Drive Thru!
Yes, would love to see another video like this.
$20 is the standard for crack rocks in every city. You can get more, sometimes less, but that standard is the $20 rock. The size of the rock might be determined by where you are, who you know, even the color of your skin. Seattle's a big city with a big market, so you should be able to get a decent size rock for $20.
One thing I've noticed for some things. The price has gone up, but the quantity has gone down. You get less for more$
yes a new video! loved this video!
I would love to see a video about your friends family booth!
👍👍Yes. Sounds fun
Yes for the family business, always interesting 👍
Yes!
Maybe Fremont, Green lake, Phinney could be fun that way
I'm guessing the space needle is 18.00
Yes!! Do another one!
Do another and focus more on cheap and interesting places to see.
What if you did a Tacoma challenge like that and compare the 2? Might be interesting! I'm in the south end and pretty frugal if you need ideas
This was a great video idea!
Awesome video! You definitely can do better with a different itinerary. We would love to see a follow up video that does it for under $20
Yes I would love to see a video about Camilla's family business.
I mean makes sense
Have you ever seen the movie Scorchy? It's an action flick from the 1970s set and filmed in Seattle. I think it would be a fun video for you to see the movie and then go to all the places they filmed it in. See what's still there and what's changed.
$20?; that will get you (1) over-priced $10 craft beer in a Dixie cup....plus the 100% tip expected by the wait-staff. For handing it to you. AT the bar.
I’m moving. It’s better than my country.
OMG! Crazy!
Really liked this video!! Seems like a large portion of your budget was spent on food. You probably could have done it had you, for example had a larger breakfast and packed a couple sandwiches 😊 then you could have only had dinner and maybe a treat!
If you do a next one try no liquor to save.
So another video with a different itinerary!
We want a Kamilla video
i would love to see the video with Camilla and her business!!!:)
3 hours mayybe
A meal and a a half
If you need a drink then the meal will likely go over 20
Love this video idea 😊
Aww you look so young in 2019
