I really loved the songs in this film.
Diving into movies is not a bad thing. I just think that Tiwa should work with a Director like Kemi Adetiba for her next project. She would help her fill the necessary loopholes.
I sha didn't understand why Tiwa's character was always smoking.

Her most urgent issue is that she needs a better writer. I tried to find the pedigree of this scriptwriter. Couldn’t find. Tiwa can afford a very good writer.

So I had watched this review few days ago, but i’m back to say I can’t wait to hear your take on the AMVCA winners.
It’s funny how because the dynamic with voting has changed, we’re able to see more “befitting” wins (in my humble opinion)
That being said, I think the name of the award should be changed at this point, because it’s no longer “viewer’s choice” o! 😂
I’m just thinking about some really good misses in years past because some faves just had mad fans and following.
Anyway, like I said, i’m eager to hear your take 😁

I appreciate your mentioning the police harassment scene. I forgot, and you’re right in saying that that’s the only scene I felt something. Even the reveal scene I didn’t feel anything.
    They kept complicating things:
-They could have left her leaving be as a result of her brother’s death. Instead they ruined it by adding that she always wanted to leave.
-They could have left her returning be about the death of a cousin. Instead it became about “the pressure is too much”. Like! They kept getting in their own way.
People who come from abroad and dress in Africa like they’re still abroad, I don’t have any comment on whatever reception you get. I was really scared in that police scene but a part of me was like “but Aunty, are you mad?”

Great review Tito. I only watched because of Mike and Andrew but was impressed by younger Kay. Mide and Kay nailed it. Jemima was forgettable. Tiwa should have settled for a minor role such as Jemima’s even.
I feel like Andrew’s edge was lost because he was struggling with the pidgin and pulling off a 9ja accent especially being that he has a predominantly British accent and less versed with 9ja pidgin.
In conclusion, the film was merely an extended music video.

15:00 and they only showed from Tiwa’s (Aisha) point of view which is wrong. It’s just boils down to the development of the character as you said.

Very accurate review. I don't know if you've seen Kanye west Runaway movie where he played songs from his album Runaway. I thought Tiwa was trying to do something like that but then again Kanye's Runaway had a structured storyline and was easy to follow. Again, this was very accurate review, Keep up the good work. I look forward to more.

Your review is apt. I usually decide about a movie within the 1st 15 minutes...because of Tiwa I tried my best not to give up but by 30 minutes in, I was done...and not impressed....Everything was slow...I'm into whodunnit kind of films so I already figured Kay was involved in Mide's death so I was not surprised at the end .. the only thing I liked about the movie was the quality and bright colours.. aside of that, the movie was nothing to write home about ...

I think the writer was more focused on making it about Tiwa, the star, versus Aisha, the slumdog millionaire designer. Trying to script Tiwa into the movie distracted from a better story line that could have been better delivered considering the great performances of the minor actors. They should have scripted her a minor but poignant role and allowed the other actors to do the work. I guess they did not want anyone outshining her, which in IMO, is a mistake because most often supporting actresses tend to give better performances in many cases.

I feel like when she came back, they should have shown scenes of her mourning with her friend. (Atleast, that’s why she came back) Also, probably falling hard for Kay in the process then the plot twist wld be finding out Kay killed her brother and now she starts seeking for revenge.
That would have been a better story. I don’t even know where the story was going.
And Tiwa’s first 2 outfit she wore when she was out with jemima were too revealing for her character IMO. It didn’t fit the setting or maybe it’s just me.
Overall the movie was a 4. For the cinematography, the good looking cast (everyone was fine) and then the sound (music).

My question is where is Eastside??? And why is nobody talking about the Twi that was being spoken in the movie by some characters ( Kay, the police officer and one other guy). At some point, I thought they were in Ghana. But then some people were speaking Yoruba as well so I got really confused.
I’m very disappointed that Tiwa can do such a horrible movie.
