I have awful misophonia (for food, chewing gum, throat clearing, most weirdly something being brushed and the use of certain words used at the end of every sentence) and it genuinely fucks with my life so badly. It's an overwhelming mix of panic and anger that is hard to describe to someone who doesn't experience it, and it's absolutely not the same as just not liking a sound. I also think Adam sort of experiences it with Carl's "quEStions"
It's so annoying because I know it's my problem, I can't look at someone doing something normal like eating a bag of crisps or an apple and tell them to stop because then I'm a dickhead, I literally can't sit there and listen to it because it activates fight or flight so badly and I want to rip someone's head off for it, so I just have to leave but then I'm the dickhead who leaves a room any time someone wants a snack. It's lose-lose-lose and I only have my own idiot brain to blame.
