Forget about the smile- which is beautiful. This woman's drumming is so f'n clean and technically brilliant. So many people always want to see hard fast drumming, but some of the most brilliant drumming with real feel is to be found on the slower, ballad type songs. She is drumming the way she wants, with 5A sticks. If she wanted a harder hit she could use 5B's. As it is, her kit has Tama Bubinga Shells, which are very loud anyway. Good reaction, although you didn't mention banana's Po! For another Japanese drummer try Kanade Sato of KOIAI. She has a Dave Wekl cover on youtube.

Senri Kawaguchi is the best Japanese drummer I've heard live. Mainly jazz. And I've seen all the ones you mention. I need to see Junna of Hagane and Kanade of Koiai.
Akane is my favorite drummer and Band-Maid is my favorite band. So yes, more reactions. Try “From Now On”. But Japan is ridiculously loaded with brilliant female drummers. I’ve seen these names already listed but I just want to recommend them again: Tamu (Nemophila,” Chika Hanabie), Cocoro (Nek!), Yuri (Gacharic Spin) and Junna (Hagane). Thanks
yes, check the Jimmy Page Akane picture. He saw the show in Japan and asked for a picture, allegedly Akane didn't belive it and eventually was convinced to come out and take the picture with the real Jimmy Page. No John Bonham comparisons have been found to be real. But Jimmy's support is.
I love Akane - this stuff is all composed so she has to remember 22 songs with a lot of rhythmic variation for a typical concert and Band-Maid shifts their playlist significantly so it changes the next night. A couple other recommendations beyond the typical ones you will get: Nao from Maximum the Hormone inspired many of these Japanese female rock and metal drummers. Katokiss from Otoboke Beaver, killer punk drummer.
Check out "From Now On".... or "FREEDOM" LIVE. It's Ah-Kah-nee (Japanese usually pronounce every vowel) Akane hits HARD!!!! ....don;t let this performance fool you. Just wait for "FREEDOM" LIVE, this wasn't LIVE, but a LIVE studio stream, big difference. The straws are for in case they fall over they won't spray electronic components or water on to the floor, so since the other girls move around on stage a lot it's also a safety thing. Akane has a lot of digital electronics around her for backing tracks. No "Diva's in this group.
Ahh thanks for the clarification on the Live studio stream!!!! I'm used to using water bottles so I wasn't used to seeing straws. Which is actually smart now that I think about it because you don't have to twist open a water bottle which saves time, and she probably barely has any time between songs...as far as the diva thing I meant it as a playful joke but totally understood!!!
@@DrumRoast Yeas, when these girls start a show they run like 5-6 songs with no break in between. Their shows, for a while run close to three hours/and like 25+songs, so they are pounding them out. I sure would like to know what their workout routine consists of. They're little dynamos!
For Ah-chan in a different mode check out her cover of "Benjo Sandal Dance" from Maximum the Hormone. Thanks for the reaction! (straws in their water bottles because their staff takes care of them)
Akane is holding her sticks further back (gives her easier reach) and has a more laid-back groove on this number than in a lot of their earlier live recordings. I kinda get the impression that BM have lifted off the gas and they're cruising rather than pedal-to-the-metal like they were for pretty much eight or nine years solid from the early/mid 2010's. But let's be real, they're now 30-something year-olds not hungry 22 year-olds.
Three syllable pronunciation of her name. You got it D_R! For her drumming in particular, I guess my choices would be 'Don't you tell me' (for understated drumming yet impactful). 'No God' for her amazing twin-pedal work and 'Giovanni' (just because it's very Proggy). There're more, of course. :) Check out Nemophila's drummer, Tamu Murata. She's a classical pianist on the side. Nagisa of TRiDENT. She has a distinct drumming style and maybe Chika of HANABIE. She doesn't use a Mid-Tom on her kit. I think it's a Mid-Tom that's missing instead of a High-Tom.
Wrong. Not wearing sexy outfits, they’re wearing maid café outfits as they poke fun at the contrast between the cute outfits with hard rock music. Enjoy.

Regarding the straws, she uses those so she can get a drink mid-song. During guitar solos, if she's thirsty she signals the lead singer who will then hold the bottle up for her while she takes a drink without missing a beat. Every band member interacts with the drummer onstage way more than any other band I've ever seen.

Senri Kawaguchi is the best Japanese drummer I've heard live. Mainly jazz. And I've seen all the ones you mention. I need to see Junna of Hagane and Kanade of Koiai.
Might I say, for Tamu try their studio cover of Babymetal's "Megitsune", there's a drum-focus video out there.
Shout out to Haruna from Love Bites.
But Jimmy's support is.
what a freakin honor!!! Thanks for the dope info Steven!!!
Brother you should check out their live performances 🤘
🤘🤘🤘 thanks for the rec!!!
Katokiss from Otoboke Beaver, killer punk drummer.
thanks for the recs!!! I can barely remember 5 of my own band's songs live let alone to 22, more respect to Akane :)))
Check out "From Now On".... or "FREEDOM" LIVE. It's Ah-Kah-nee (Japanese usually pronounce every vowel)
Akane hits HARD!!!! ....don;t let this performance fool you.
(straws in their water bottles because their staff takes care of them)
thanks for the sub and rec, your comment is so positive :))))
"they're now 30-something year-olds not hungry 22 year-olds." man I can feel that statement in my bones...thank you for the great insight here :)))
@@DrumRoast Sorry for that! But I tell you, it flashes by so fast!
Check out Nemophila's drummer, Tamu Murata. She's a classical pianist on the side. Nagisa of TRiDENT. She has a distinct drumming style and maybe Chika of HANABIE. She doesn't use a Mid-Tom on her kit. I think it's a Mid-Tom that's missing instead of a High-Tom.
"She's a classical pianist on the side" I need to sell my piano and drums now 🤣🤣🤣thanks for all of this dope info!!!
Wrong. Not wearing sexy outfits, they’re wearing maid café outfits as they poke fun at the contrast between the cute outfits with hard rock music.
Enjoy.
thanks for inspiring me to look into similar outfits for my own band someday 😂😂😂

Best band on the planet! Akane with soft pronunciation. She writes her own drum parts and they are complicated, I don't know how she remembers them. Not double bass, double pedals. And women use straws in their water because they often wear lipstick, dummy!! LOL 😄
"because they often wear lipstick" 🤣🤣🤣I FORGOR!!!!!!! My English is terrible...meant to say double pedals...I interchange the language too often which is confusing for the viewers too..THANK YOU for the input Randall!!!!
Best rock band on the planet.
YESSIR!!!!!!
Akane is so tight on the kit. Her smile is legendary. The whole group has incredible energy and all love to smile. The mix is a bit poor. They do use in ear monitors. This band is incredibly tight and they became my favorite band this month. As a new Maidiac, try their live versions of Dice, Domination, Onset, and Freedom for starters. They know how to rock! I'm not a musician but I like watching reactors view my new favorite band!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
This BAND has the biggest following you will find , there Diversity in music is phenomenal , yes , she has a college degree in music ! Hahaha
respect to the college degree...heard about her work ethic and they deserve their success for sure!!!
THE happiest drummer on Earth, playing in THE best Rock band on Earth. Try Ohrenje's YT channel to see his documentary on Akane or try '14 Akane fills, solos and laughs - ruclips.net/video/iidkIQRpaNw/видео.htmlsi=aQYx1zwKAajI6qad
omg thank you Tony for this link!!!!!!!!! The rabbit hole is about to even get deeper!!!!
@@DrumRoast I make videos every 2 years on the band members birthday, featuring new, hard to find pieces or rarities. This was Akane's but there's also a few Akane rarities on my channel too.
Akane Hirose aka " gorilla " 😸
Hi! You've stumbled upon the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Yes. I am indeed that guy! Akane Hirose is very cheerful. Her nickname is Gorilla due to love of bananas and her goofy nature in a fun loving band. Incredibly hard working musician.
Check out Senri Kawaguchi with plenty of youtube presence (Jazz Avengers). Yoyoka Soma has a youtube channel. Used to be promarily a very young musician of prodigious talent doing classic rock covers. Now she is busy in Los Angeles recording jazz fusion albums, starting her own all female band and playing with Narada Michael Walden. She just turned 15. She is listed on the Drummers World website Top 500 Drummers of all time. She was listed there at age 11
yes I've seen many comments about Yoyoka already, am so excited to react to her as well!!!!! Youngest Berklee attendee!!!!!! Thank you so much for the sub Chris!!!
Actually her friend Ai Furusato, pianist, holds that distinction. Yoyoka did attend a drum camp there but she is following a different path to greatness!@@DrumRoast
@@chrisegbertky MY BAD I jumped the gun there... thanks for clearing that up!!!!!!
AKANE🦍🍌🥁🤘
🦍🍌🥁🤘🦍🍌🥁🤘
Regarding the straws, she uses those so she can get a drink mid-song. During guitar solos, if she's thirsty she signals the lead singer who will then hold the bottle up for her while she takes a drink without missing a beat. Every band member interacts with the drummer onstage way more than any other band I've ever seen.
thanks for the info...I figured...my own fatass drinks water nonstop at my own shows and it's a pain to unscrew the water bottle LOL totally understood!!!
After HARUNA , AKANÉ, JUNNA , another very talented lady drummer for JAPAN, I propose NATSUMI from BRIDEAR song BLOODY BRIDE drums play out.

yisss thanks for the rec!!!
Not compared with male drummers? Check out Sato Kanade of the band Koiai. More recent videos since she joined the band full time about a year ago.
:) Sato and Koiai are both on my list very excited!!!!! I'm slowly opening my world up to female drummers and learning about them...so sorry about my ignorance!!!
👍👍 try nemophila / gacharic spin / maximum the hormone / unlucky morpheus / asterism / wagakki band / koiai / 🎸
omg so many recs thank you!!!!!
I wonder how the click sounds... 256bpm double time

DR, you may enjoy this one also. Unfortunately you don't get to see Akane smile. ruclips.net/video/JVDAWcVWiBI/видео.html
OMG THANK YOU for this rec...I have 2 other drum cams saved, I know many of her fans and the bands are recommending entire performances but I was more interested in just the drums LOL
