How to Disable DMs on Instagram

- There is a way to disable direct messages on Instagram. If you don't use messages or are getting messages you are not interested in, you can deactivate direct messages in the Instagram settings.
Simply click on settings on your Instagram profile. Click on the notification and then messages. Here, you can turn off any settings entirely, including message notifications.

This is just notifications, You can turn message requests off in settings

No you cant, thos is all a gimmick. There's no suck thing as turning off messege request. The messege still shows up in messege request falder, and given you an option whether you want to view it or not. You cant escape anyone entirely. Instagram is awful

To those of you who don’t understand why people r texting you still
This is only for people who don’t follow you or haven’t already messaged you yet. So if u messaged someone already they can still message you
No matter what you do, even if your account is private and you've set "message control" to "don't receive", the messages will still show up in messege request folder and will give you the option to view them. It's awful. You cant escape people.
What does primary mean?
But people can still message you.
