Thank you Dereck! "L'Horloge" is a poem about time passing so fast, life and death.
It was the first song of her first concert in 1989, and the last song of her last concert in 2019. After 30 years, the cycle is over.
Because of this, some people think she will never do a concert again.

    • @spyretto
      @spyretto 3 года назад

The 2019 version is spectacular. The song's lyrics are the poem by Charles Baudelaire from his collection The Flowers of Evil ( Fleur Du Mal ) a seminal Renaissance work. They converted it to the song word by word.

Myléne's first concert! everyone was expecting this and I can say that this concert made a lot of noise: grandiose, never seen and especially its detractors who said she was unable to sing live! This is where she really became the icon of today.

And don't forget to say even detractors had to admit that it was an awesome show. Nowadays, even people who don't like her songs say: Mylene Farmer's show is something you HAVE to see at least one time in your life.

Dereck I did not think you would check anything from that show ...Sans logique, Sans Contrefaçon, ainsi soit-je, Tristana and closing song “ je voudrais tant que tu comprennes “are big moments for that show.
Back then the media doubted she could handle a stage concert as she was only known for her music videos and lip/sinked tv performances .
Along the way do not miss the beginning of her shows from 1996 and 2009 .
    Thanks again Dereck ♥️

    • @rhaelicent

Don’t forget Libertine! I think Tristana and Libertine were the most theatrical performance of the concert too

  • @litogor
    @litogor 3 года назад +25

Yes Dereck you should continue on this concert because it is historical and it is also the trigger of the legend of Mylène. In the context of the time, the fans were impatiently waiting for her for the first time on stage but they did not know at all if it would be close to the music videos that she had already made and also many others were coming for the discover out of curiosity. Finally, they discover the continuity and also a staging then never seen in the world.
You can search absolutely everywhere, you will never find a staging of this level anywhere in the world before Mylène in 1989 (I certify it). It was a shock in the musical world because it had just opened a new era for everyone by placing the cursor very high ...

  • @rhaelicent
    @rhaelicent 3 года назад +25

L’horloge is a poem by Charles Baudelaire. She has recited it for a total of 2 shows, 1989 start and 2019 end.. what could that mean?
If you wish to continue with this concert, then go ahead, it’s not her best but it is definitely impressive and very theatrical. I suggest reacting to this concerts Tristana and Libertine the most, super theatrical.

That concert was really eventful. After 2 albums, MF was on stage for the first time, everyone expected that. Lots of curiosity, no one knew what was going to happen. An incredible anticipation, for 30min audience plunged into darkness, noises of wind, squeaks, howls of wolves, cries of babies ... And suddenly that monk appearance to open this huge wrought iron door . Incredible for the time, it was unheard of. The whole concert is a live transcription of her videos, all in a cemetery setting. I really like the musical direction of Bruno Fontaine

The best entrance of a show ever! People have to see Mylene’s live it’s a great experience... She’s amazing. Glad to see people people reacting to it nowadays it s still a beautiful show and what an entrance!
The sounds were on stage to as the keyboard player was also on the programming ( loads of sounds/ samples ...) it gave this great atmosphere to the show.
The lyrics are from a Charles Baudelaire’s poem : “ The Clock”.
Thierry Mugler designed all the outfits for the tour ( inspired by his “ Autumn / winter 88 collection “ Les Infernales”. Mylene’s dress on “ Pourvu qu’elles soient douces” is a replica of one of Mugler’s dress from the fashion show).
Would love to see you react to “ Sans Logiqur”, “ Tristana” , “ Sans Contrefaçon”.
There’s a theme of “ passing time” in this show, even the order of the songs are from growing up to becoming an adult , Mylene stars and finishes the show in the same position.
    This show is so good.

Lyrics are an exceptional piece of French literature, from Charles Baudelaire, one of the greatest poets ever. He was obsessed by the ineluctability of time, decay, and death, all perfectly encompassed in L’horloge. His words are meant to be spoken, can’t be sung really, and Mylène Farmer did a pretty good job adapting them into a musical frame.

My very first concert of Mylène...
The atmosphere was so unreal when we entered the arena. Just these gates...
People were so excited that the whole floor of the building was trembling when everyone was stomping their feet.
I think this is the most eerie show she ever made. And the one when people began to realize she was not just a shooting star but here to stay.

Hi Dereck ! Now you finally got your hands on Mylene's first concert opening. But the whole concert is worth watching, not only because of the stage setting (like a graveyard), but also from the choice of songs ! You'll never hear some of these songs sung again at any concert by Mylene. So do more from this concert, it's really worth watching and reacting to. Great reaction, as always ! Here's to your next one ! Best wishes : Gerry

"L’horloge" (The clock) is a poem by Charles Baudelaire masterfully set to music by Laurent Boutonnat as an introduction to the album "Ainsi soit je…" in 1988. As soon as the album came out, Mylène Farmer was already thinking of opening the show with this title.
"L’horloge" is the first song of the show and has a key role in the show both for the script and the setting. According to Gilles Laurent, who worked on the staging of the Tour 89, the basic idea was the inexorable flow of time. They therefore chose an arrangement based on the round of the seasons, organized around the text. The setting was not really a graveyard; they started from photos of Stonehenge that Gilles Laurent had found, ruined stones, mysteriously arranged, a veritable observatory of the planets, which tells people about time. We can therefore find there an obvious symbolic link with the central idea of the seasons and the passing of time. That it was dressed in cemetery clothes in the end is a drift, certainly, but which also tells of "the murderous time" of which "L’horloge" speaks.
Mylène will perform "L'horloge" at concerts in 2019 for the finale of the show, making some people say that this was the end of Mylène's career.

If you want to do a whole show, I will suggest the Timeless 2013 because you only have seen the entrance so a lot will be new to you. Plus the set design with great with many surprises.

You should react to "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" from this same 89 live with Carole Fredericks as backvocalist. Libertine's good too... Well, every rendition from this concert is pure gold.

Of course, we knew about this. I mean, in France, at least. :D It's a historical live.
On a side note, if a twenty year old looking nine hundred year old female vampire did a concert in the 80s, it would look like that.

Hi Dereck ! Thank you for this reaction ; Just so you know, It is her first tour ever ! And also the opening song of this 89 show, is the closing song of her 2019 show (30 years in between) ; so you have already reacted to L’horloge from her 2019 tour ;)

Bonjour Dereck ! L'Horloge is a Charles Baudelaire's famous poema. These 24 verses are VERY depressive. For Baudelaire , clock = time = death. The clock talks to each of us. The time kills us step by step , second after second. And there is no possible escape ! « Remember , time is a greedy gamer who always wins without even cheating. Such is the law ! » « The day wanes , the night waxes ». Remenber it , Dereck !

    First show !!!!
From this one you can react to "Libertine", " "maman a tort", "Allan", "Je t'aime Mélancolie".
the second show was in 1996, with this one you can go to "intro+vertige"; "california", "l'autre", "tomber 7 fois", "Alice"
As other said on comment, Mylene had a big succes until mid-2000. She lost some people after that time but as you saw earlier on other rections, she is as good as before !

Dereck, she began her first on stage show with l’horloge in 1989 and ended her last on stage 2019 show with the same song, making lots of fans thinking that 2019 shows were her last shows ever. This being the beginning and the end.

Yup, we know about this! I’ve watched the whole concert in YT (‘89 concert was her first one ever and she was in her 20s... hard to believe she was so young at the time!) which is more than 1 hour long!
Oh, and yes, this song is the same as the Outro of the 2019 concert; so you already reacted to a more recent version of it! 👍🏻
Loved your reaction! Thank you for the great video! 🥳😁
Please do the whole concert, it’s awesome and you won’t be disappointed! 😉😁
    PS: Please do a reaction to Mylène’s “Déshabillez-moi”, “C’est dans l’air” or “Je t’aime mélancolie “...? 🥺

    HI Dereck
Seriously if you want to see a complete live, piece after piece, choose another one, like Mylenium tour, live 2006 or live 2009.
But if you continue with live 89, Sans contrefaçon is reallly good and fun.
With Libertine live 89 come the woman in red that you like so much :)
    Sans logique !
    Tristana !
I love when she introduces the musicians in Pourvu qu'elles soient douces, she leap all over the stage, very happy, so young !!
and in live 89 there's the amazing Carole Fredericks !!
It's not her best but it's history, it was so incredible in this time, never seen before.
