The fact is: Optic had one of the most clouted teams with Yay being literally the star player at the time. Even if they fucked up their partnership with RIOT for a spot in VCT, them not going back into the league just goes to show that even if you have the best players or the famous ones like Tenz, there's not much money to make at all.
nah they broke as hell too, thats why their trying to go into fan funding, no one is making money except maybe 100t because their merch, plus juvie plus keyboards makes bank@@martianfn2012

This is what many fans don’t realize. People make fun of the WNBA because players ask to be paid more, but anyone with a brain can see the income they bring in does not show they can generate the revenue they are asking to receive, but it is the same in esports. These players make a shit ton of money, but there is no consistent way for organizations to make that money back without venture capital or without publishers sharing the revenue they make on digital goods sales from the advertisement that is pro play.
@@bharathmurali9530 You missed the point entirely. It's not solely about viewership numbers, it's about how much money a player brings to the org. A Valorant player getting paid $400k a year does not help the org sell enough merch and bring in sponsorship to cover their pay. Maybe they would at $200, but salaries are just too inflated and need to correct otherwise the orgs are just throwing their money into a pit.
@@bharathmurali9530 The sad reality is that viewership does not equate to revenue. These orgs don't make money even if a million people watch their matches simply because it's free to watch.
Only a few players really are worth a high salary and it’s usually associated to a brand. That’s why IMO if you want to go pro you should stream to. Half the reason I never see Sentinels letting Tenz go is that his brand and streaming generates way too much revenue
If youve read leos most recent statement, youd know that riot has allowed the players to suggest a fitting org who is willing to pick the players up as a whole and allow them to play in tier 1 after the massive backlash they got.
Yeah tariks right, OpTic should’ve won that grand final vs LOUD they choked that ascent they were up 12-8 and they were up 6-0 on breeze and lost both of those games, but ig im just coping cuz I was an OpTic fan back then :/
it's more about loud's mentality and merit rather than only optic choking, loud made a almost perfect champions run that year, saying that optic shouldve won is just wrong
They think their clout mean something when it comes to competitive play. If you think you need to be paid more because you're famous on the internet, be a content creator instead of a pro player
To be fair, more than half the viewership didn't come from LOUD probably. So many people watched that Optic v Loud because of the rivalry between the two, and weren't necessarily fans of either Optic or Loud. If more than half of the viewers were Loud fans, then that would mean >750000 Loud fans tuned into that match, which would make more sense if all 5 matches on that list involved Loud in some way.

Lmao esports really just burning your money like moist lud and toast said it's just all for fun if you got the money but you lose tons
sentinels must be making a bag from the content creator cuts to keep the esport team alive

don't forget on top of the 50k salary the rent is also paid for by the org lol
wait I thought it was 20-30k/month player salary ?
RIOT covers the rent for the players per the contract for franchising now tho but since Optic didn’t make it yeah that makes sense.

This technically means the guard players could go to optic
Yeah they technically can but I think the players have made a decision to split cause they want a a guaranteed spot for years to come
