  • If you don’t have a plane in Alaska it is hard to hunt for moose. This year we did our best to get away from other hunters on our 4 wheelers, but ended up in an area with over 2 dozen hunters. With a lot of work though we managed to harvest a nice 53” bull moose despite the competition.

This is great 👍 I have to work at the barn right now but I have let this run and watch it again later. This is my bucket list. I have my grandpas 300 H&H Winchester he bought in Alaska in 1948 , his bush pilot was Noel Wein (Alaska Airlines) and grandpa rescued his plain out of the ice once. Moose with that rifle is it ! What a treat ! 👍

Congrats on the harvest. Thats quite a setup you have for butchering. One of these days when those pressure sealers come down ill be able to afford one. Love how you had the kids involved is helping out. Few kids now adays lnow where there food comes from.

It took us a few years to accumulate our setup, but now that we have it, it saves us some time and money from having to get it professionally done. The kids are getting really good at helping too and that makes it that much more valuable to have.

@@HowtoAlaska It also took me a few years to get to the point to be able to do everything also. Im just now at the point to upgrde the equipment that i have. Love being able to butcher my own game animals the way i like and not pay a butcher to do it.

Nice bull, sir! It was good to see that there are still moose out there! Last winter was really hard on them here and we saw very little. I glassed a cow way down a valley and saw one on the road, but that was it. Matt saw a few more, but he had some time off and was out more. Congratulations, looks like a lot of fun (and work)! 😀

Thanks Jeff, we saw 50 or 60 moose where we were at, but the pressure on the bulls was extremely high. Its probably good we have antler restrictions in this neck of the woods.

Wow, great catch! A team effort, so much fine meat, and the whole family participated. The satisfying way to get dinner.

I can’t take it seriously when a white person names their “How to Alaska”, when you probably haven’t had majority of the native food. 💀
