When asked my race on a form, I put Other: HUMAN

Fair enough. I would say that being Human is a Genus not a Race. Race is something like a sub species.

I remember filling out a form and getting to the race section. When I handed in the form I pointed to the race section and asked, Why do you need to know this? She shrugged her shoulders.
    We are one.
    Thank you 🌞 ❤

Not Motown, but a beautiful song made popular by the Youngbloods in 1967 called Let’s Get Together has always been a favorite of mine and expresses how we” hippies” felt and understood the need for love and peace. I wish it could be brought back again somehow as the words are powerful❤️

Thanks, John, What you say is very, very true, in fact we can take it to where in this Universe, all members are One. Separation really is a myth. Thanks, Love and peace to you and all. By the way, I too grew up with Motown, Isaac Hayes, Brook Benton, The Fifth Dimension, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and the Supremes. My 2 older bros had their songs on Albums and 45s, and thanks to You Tube, I listen to them always.

Well said, my friend. Much appreciated. If more people understood that they are the very creators of this reality and the amount of power the spoken word has, we would be so much less likely to blast one another with negative energy. As well as understand the beauty they can create instead.

I love this! My grands and great grands are from Sweden but I’ve never once said “I’m a Swedish American”! Btw, I love Smokey Robinson too and most all Motown singers/groups. 😊

For 10-12,000 years, humans have distinguished one another by tribes/tribalism. Whether it’s by wealth, skin color, hair and eye color, bloodline or religion. About 2000 years ago, a great teacher came to earth and began educating us that we are all one. And that we should care for one another. We working on that and sometimes it seems we are still a long way away- other times, not so far away.

I would have to call myself an English, German, Irish, Cornish, Scottish Australian... but that's a mouthful too far! With family almost 200 years and 6 generations in Australia I'm happy to call myself An Aussie. But beyond all that "I am" and that's far more important.😉

Well, people born in Australia became Australian retrospectively by the passing of the Nationality Act in 1949. Before that they were British subjects.

When you remove ethnicity from your conversation it makes you focus on the person, not the race. Try to describe a friend/coworker/role model and you see that person in a whole new way.

Could you do a video on ppl with psychosis and other mental disorders, are they creating these things through their belief or is the hardware /body they are using physically faulty. I’ve always wondered and think it’s a good topic

    • @LeonieRomanes
      @LeonieRomanes Месяц назад +2

It's the hardware. Just like some people are born with club feet or blue eyes or any other difference. Sometimes something will happen to flick the switch to activate the gene for a specific illness. We don't judge people for being born with other disabilities in the same way we judge people with mental illness.

I remember having a conversation with the Champaign County, Ohio common pleas court judge one time (I was a court reporter in his courtroom) about the term "Native American." At that time I was volunteering in various ways on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, I was studying Native history, and I'd just started a master's degree program where eventually I would write about mediation and storytelling and how the indigenous people of this country survived genocide. In his opinion, he said, HE was a Native American. He was born in the United States: thus, he was native to this land, and an American, so he was Native American. And he wasn't trying to be funny.
    Same as your argument.
Not sure I can agree with that.

I have heard Mr. Robinson say that before in interviews. When you look different from the norm or what is regarded as the norm, you'll get labelled. The person who said she doesn't call herself Swedish American, you can do that because you look like the norm. What if your forebears looked Japanese or Cypriot? If asked, I live in Australia and no one really cares anyway, I say I used to be Maltese. I am sure if Mr. Robinson died tomorrow he would be called an African American. That's life.

interestingly negative perspective that doesn't allow the possibility of change. I disagree.
