    Sensory networks are the key for driverless cars

  • @viasevenvai
    @viasevenvai 6 лет назад +1

    Once the car drives itself you’ll have an attitude to “driving” we’ve never known. People look to sleeping as the thing but I bet it’ll include more productivity. If you need to read something why not get your car to take you somewhere while you do it. Microwaves created a world no one could imagine for example.

  • @AE-nm8kx

    Here’s how it’s going to happen. The manufacturer will be the insurance company as insurance companies are too stuck to understand and once the car companies know they’ve reached the threshold of safety they will take on the auto insurance part and that will be the time that you’ll find yourself in the new reality of automated mobility.

      I just think the initial consumer product will be a bit unrefined, because it's so revolutionary, we don't really know 100% what form it will take. Just as a rough example, the first self-driving cars might look like cars we have today, but once refined, they might look more like living rooms in the interior, setup for a much more social experience. I have a feeling the vast majority of people are hesistant to spend large amounts of money on something that's going to be obsolete straight away, they want to wait for a certain tipping point. Still I wouldn't be surprised if it's 10 years, not 15.

      Cost shouldn't be a big problem. Driverless cars should make owning a car unnecessary for a good chunk of the population. With a good rental system, it should be cheaper for a large portion of the population. Gas/insurance/maintenance/repairs and so on all add up. And your not paying a driver... Back those costs out and rentals become much more interesting. Think of it as Netflix for cars.

      Technology itself is great already and it will be ready for driverless cars very soon. However the legal problems are the thing that is holding it down. For example if driverless car hits to people who is to blame.

    • @ag687
      @ag687 6 лет назад +2

      The legal issue is a big deal. To start with, the car will know exactly what happened so reconstruction of exact conditions of crashes will be easier to find fault. But even if there is legal issues, It doesn't mean the tech won't be everywhere much earlier than people think. There are 5 levels to look at with automated driving capabilities. Level 5 capable cars(true self driving cars) could be mass produced earlier than people think... Until reliability is good enough, I think they'll just call it Level 4(driver helps as needed) and leave the legal responsibility in the hands of drivers till its ready for prime time with an update. I believe Elon Musk is going something along this route.

They've created huge value for society and instead of passing it on to their children, they'll be putting their wealth into humanitarian efforts after their death. That's an economic system that I want to live under, and I hope our future billionaires have as much as character as these men.

      It's very simple math actually. The more people you can help/empower, the more money you will make. For example, the more rooms you have in a hotel, the more potential profit the hotel will make. If the number of rooms is too low, the hotel makes a small profit or perhaps negative return. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet just scaled up. Simple math. (Of course there are other business principles involved, but scale of influence is the base of the foundation.)

      Simon what people like you repeatedly fail to grasp is that the wealthy aren't taking away from the pie. The pie is expanding! The only way to make ten billion dollars for yourself is to add more than ten billion in value to economy, so even the richest men have given more than they have taken.

      I dont worry about the pie. I worry about democracy.
      The billionaires eat a little more pie, but they can only eat so much. Their money is mostly power rather than pie. Power to buy our democracy.
      Note that i do not blame these men of that. But for every buffet and gates, there is also a Martin Shkreli and a James Dimon.

      Simon Carlile wrong, the wealthiest are not in the public eye, and have more wealth than Bill and Warren combined!

    These evil mofos. You all are eating it up. It has nothing to do with safety from auto accidents. It's about taking our ability to move about freely. Everything tracked.
