Yes I’m 72, went 7 years to catholic school. Never met a priest like Fr. Mike. All we were taught was the fear of God.

Fr Mike Schmitz speaks to me in clear words of the heart whether during a Homily at Mass, a podcast or a Steubenville Conference. He meets people where they are at and helps them take a next step closer to God. He is a gifter speaker and shares his love of the Father/ Abba/ Dad!

Thank you Heavenly Father for the way Fr. Mike explains things.
I realise now that Praise (first) pre-reminds me of all of God's qualities: love, power, knowing, wisdom etc. which in turn reminds me of the confidence we have in God, through Jesus. It reminds us of who we are in Christ and of that mighty power working in us.

That was really good advice. The only thing I would change would be making prayer a hardship in any way. You (Fr. Mike) have a grace from God that pulls you to pray. The rest of pretty much all of us really don't.
So, myself, experiencing that lack of motivation, I started studying why some ppl feel a natural pull to pray while others don't.
Being a Catholic, it took me a long while to get license to explore other forms of prayer. It wasn't until I read Thomas Merton's work that I felt I was in good company.
In short, Walking Meditation is an awesome method for prayer. I made this process up out of a number of different traditions:
    1. You wake up, you thank God.
    2. You stand up and run to the restroom like a crazy person and thank God you have the ability to do this.
    3. You randomly pray Our Fathers and Hail Mary's through the day
    3. You continue through your day 'leaving everything better than you found it' as an act of love and appreciation of the things God has gifted you with (kinda like Japanese Tea Ceremonies- everything touched is done with love and appreciation (i.e. thank God for the water to wash your dishes, for the way it feels on your skin, for how beautiful it is as it's running over the colors and reflecting off the light of the dishes)).
    4. You pray special prayers as they come to you to pray throughout your day, not waiting to pray, just doing them right there and then.
    5. You ask God for a symbol to remind you to thank Him (Everytime I see a hawk, I know He wants me to give Him praise, for example).
    6. You lay down and ask God to cover you in His blood and thank Him for spending the day with you and protecting you as you go to sleep.
Meditative prayer, rosaries, and all the rest of the different types are no longer work to do. Walking Meditation makes them a normal part of my day and something I look forward to doing as "special" prayers.

In my opinions brothers and sisters the best to pray to our Almighty God when you’re sincerely like when feel you need to talk to God like your best friend not only when we’re miserable and have a huge obstacles on life . God is waiting fir us all the time , we need to get used to it even in our daily life , whatever we have unexpected problems if God is with you all the time and you will feel fearless he’s the one who will give you peace and the most important to meditate and I promise God will not disappointed you just give you the 100% to surrender yourself and to trust him … I’m sharing this to you all because I’ve been there and I want you brothers and sisters. To experience how God is merciful , humble , forgiving and always there for us …. I’m gonna add you guys to my prayers who reads this comments Amen .
