I remember a talk by an ex-cabinet minister from Liberia regarding their visits to the US and China. They tried to get a meeting with then speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi, but were essentially told she was way too important to meet with a low level public minister (I think he was Liberia's minister of public works) from some little African nation. But when they visited China, they were received with great courtesy, met at the airport, and settled into the official guest houses for foreign dignitaries. Their Chinese hosts then apologized that unfortunately then Chinese leader President Hu Jintao could not meet with them because some high level American officials were in town at the same time, but they could meet with another of China's top politburo officials instead, some guy named Xi Jinping.
That African minister was like you in the west wonder why we like to work with the Chinese more than the Americans?

Whether a country is strong or weak, its leaders represent the collective dignity of its citizens.
The citizens of a large country are human beings, and the citizens of small countries are also human beings, and everyone has the same feelings.
    Respect and greetings from China

    • @ddv267
      @ddv267 17 дней назад

"Its leaders represent the collective dignity of its citizens." NOT in the US or in W-EU. US is mostly busy with w@rs and drags others with it. EU and other vessal states just follow the US. That's not for the wellbeing of the people! Many citizens aren't happy either. Good leaders focus primary on eliminating poverty and improve policies to benefit life of the people, not on wars!
Just a simple example; have you seen the long list of buildings-and bridges collapsing in "da richest country of the world"? It's crazy! Worse than in China. Either their engineers do a terrible job or their leaders just don't give a hoot about their people (or both?). Another example is the war with Russia. They love to join the war, but as a result of that EU faces inflation. Energy prices have become high. So many companies/organizations lower down their use of gas etc otherwise it would be too expensive. And if they still use the same level of energy, the ordinary citizens have to pay more for the products/services those companies give. There are swimming pools that have lowered their heatings. So the swimming pools are all cold esp in the winter. Pff.😂

In less than a month, China will fall into the situation predicted by Western media and pessimistic economists - factories shut down, shops closed, government shutdown, stock market unavailable, rich people rushing overseas with their families, local people eager to exchange currency for food, many families posting slogans at their doors to express their demands, the streets are filled with the smell of gunpowder left by explosives, most people have nothing to do, drinking and playing cards all day, children go out in groups to ask for money.....

Last year, when the China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit was held in Beijing, the national leaders were meeting in the Beijing Conference Center, and my little sis (she's seven) happened to pass by the building after returning from school. The front gate of the building was crowded with African journalists, staff, and security guards, which was fascinating to her. So she decided to perform cartwheels for them on the street as a friendly greeting (while showing off her gymnastic skills). The audience was... quite amused. Anyways, welcome to China, people will be friendly to you here!

A celebrity no matter how big just represents themselves. A leader of a sovereign state represents the people, their dignity, their hope and aspirations and power and history. Anything less than full pomp and circumstances with complete regalia is an insult disrespecting an entire nation. This Ruto is a joke. He's whining about the wrong things. The Chinese did not make a mistake about protocol because it has to be balanced with practicality.
Putin gets his own car from the plane to ride across the tarmac, because he DOES have his own special Aurus Senat car that was brought along in the same plane.
Did Ruto bring his own special Kenyan-built Rutobrand car?
Only the US, China and Russia routinely bring along their own domestically built presidential cars. And that's the reason why they ride from the tarmac in their own cars. Everybody else has to ride from tarmac to the front of the airport in the standard airport buses. Including the other G7 countries.
If Ruto buys a Hongqi or BYD and brings it along in his own presidential plane I'm sure China would be happy to let him ride it from the tarmac.

So, my secretary at the time, always booked my air ticket for business class when I travel, as my business trips were 95% across the continent. Did we forget history is probably the most important understanding humanity gain the most wisdom from. If you start from the beginning in africa I think people will appreciate asia in compoletely different way and how asian people relate to african DNA even today. The facts and books are out there, but history somehow seems to be less important.

There is nothing more tragic than an African advocating for the ill treatment og African leaders but when the transparent folk come, he will jump and dance for them. Mental slavery. Any to the other dude, what does being obsessed with protocol mean? What does protocol mean in the first place? China will continue to win because they understand the game. Simple respect.

I'm Chinese. I'll say this. We will export the technologies and knowledge to you at our best capacity, in Jan 2025, we just made the most advanced AI called DeepSeek R1 opensource to the world. African brothers and sisters, you have a choice. To make life good for your people. Because we have been in a inferior positions before. Been looked down at, been laughed at, been smeared at. But we didn't lose our focus, because we remembered the hardship we went through and we as people are deteremined to make a good life. 加油!

    As a Chinese:
Don't, and no need to thank us African friend, we have a saying:
"Respect is earned by yourself, not given"
whatever you have learn and built, its all yours effort.
We don't believes in charity, we believes teaching fish not giving fish, because charity underneath hides a lots of impure motives, especially in this complicated world.
besides, if African stays poors, who will buy our Chinese products?
so helping you is also helping me, this is daoism.....
Keep it going, follow the trend, be water, my friend

I think Africa is the continent from what I know that has more resources and formidable ones. Why also Africa is the poorest country of the world? The liders of Africa should look at the UE but do it better, that is correct the mistakes of EU, create a comun currency and deal with the the greed over their resources in a united way. That way they are worth more. An example is to cartelize resources one by one, as OPEC does with oil, so that the price in any of the countries is the same. Modernize extractive processes, in this way costs are equalized and the benefits are the same for everyone, with common funds to assist extractive modernization everywhere. Etc, etc, etc. Environmental rules like the European ones, so that the harmful effects of extraction are minimized or compensated. Do not let others extract them, unless they share the technologies with the AU (African Union). Oh, they have to learn from what the Chinese did to the rich countries that relocated their industries to China, which was how China defeated the capitalist countries, becoming, although supposedly communist, the capitalist par excellence.

I think China is losing the opportunity to become the AMAZON of AFRICA not having ALIEXPRESS TEMU and SHEIN Logistics in Africa.
And of course other Chinese big brands, such as Xiaomi, Huawei or BYD or those that compete in food and beverages, and supermarkets.
And I am sure some governments would love to be the chosen one for a logistic platform better if they have a port already ruled by a Chinese company.
And as USA couriers are not interested in AFRICA, (Very expensive prices) perhaps Chinese courier companies, can fill the gap and with EV, that are cheaper.

haha the airport bus, it could be either misalignment or arrival times or just rigid airport security rules. If a leader chooses to arrive on a commercial flight with all the common folk and unannounced, I bet the diplomatic and pomp minders on the ground wouldn't be able to react in time

The Time has come. When these All +1 meetings must stop. Once any such events are scheduled. All the African leaders must send their Foreign secretaries if they Must attend
In my opinion. They should each individual respectfully decline the invite and instead double down on mining more often their minerals and ensuring it is processed to stage 3 or 4 before exporting .
Simply ban like Indonesia did with NICKel, the export of these for security reasons and only deal with countries who will setup the processing and beneficiation plants in the African countries.
Then Pls African leaders start concentrating on working with what you have got and building on that for slow but steady progress rather than trying to jump from horse riding to flying Jet fighters... Deliberate but steady strategy.
In a few decades all these empty European and western countries will decay from their debauchery and greed in the cycle of the rise and fall of civilization s...
