  • What could happen if a meniscus tear is left untreated?
This question keeps many people up at night…sometimes searching for answers on RUclips ;-)
There’s nothing good that comes from leaving a meniscus tear untreated. BUT that doesn’t mean that treatment has to be surgery.
Fixing the root problem can help keep you from years of knee problems and possibly even an unnecessary surgery.
In this video, Dr. David explains the top 8 worst problems that might happen if a meniscus tear is ignored.

I was diagnosed with a meniscus tear and a torn ligament over 3 years ago. Not 1 Dr. has suggested anything to help except a knee replacement! Never even knew there were other options! I'm so angry!!! I'd been complaining of knee pain for 5 years before that! So I'm extremely grateful for this channel! 💗

I injured my knee over 2 yrs ago now. I had torn my meniscus. I have had stiffness in my knee ever since but it wasn't real bad. About a week or 2 ago it all of the sudden got super stiff and I can't bend it. It really hurts if I try. Not sure what went haywire but hoping it will work itself out if I strengthen my glutes. I do not want a knee replacement and I'm going to do everything I can to keep from it. Great advice as always. Thankyou :)))

my sister in law whose overweight at 36 years old had her menisque tear 10 years ago bc she squated once suddenly and the pain radiated around her knee her doctor told her the news after the MRI and refused to operate her as long as she's overweight. he said it won t work. ten years later she gained more weight but she can move around despite feeling uncomfortable sometimes she rest her body a lot never climb stairs no squat no kneeling no lifting heavy stuff no sudden moves and no pressure on her knees she s careful not to twist her leg or fall. she doesn t eat a lot of frying stuff nor sugary food which will definitely increase inflammation. her diet is lots of fruits vegetable and protein food she s aware that 90% of her ailment will go away if she loses the weight.

Is it a meniscus tear if the pain is from the right lower side - possibly an attachment point? Medial collateral ligament? Also some clicking on top of the front but that has subsided with working with the massage gun. Everything leading to the knee feels super tight and irritated front and back on my left leg. Massage therapist says I have a lot of tension from hips and also from very tight calves and solous from Achilles tendonitis and a lot of ankle injuries so my knees are getting hit from both directions

I have a meniscus grade two tear, but my Dr and physical therapist insist that it's not causing me pain because my pain that I have in the knee is not typical meniscus pain. They also make me do squat exercises etc, so I'm not so sure about them :/ I think my symptoms could be atypical because of hypermobility perhaps. They claim my pain is mainly caused by muscles around the knee, and the bursa, instead of meniscus tear and chondromalacia patella. Interesting video as always.

I had a cruciate ligament tear. After surgery I was in pain for 3 years until i had an operation to remove titanium pins in my thigh and shin bone. I was allergic to titanium. This is rare ,apparently! I met someone resently who was also allergic to titanium. Unfortunately, he had knee replacements.

This video scares me... I'm 47 now, but back when I was 18, I was crossing a guy over playing basketball on a dead spot on the basketball court (one of those stupid bomb shelter hatches old bball courts used to have). And as a result tore my meniscus bad enough it locked up my knee joint. Eventually with some manipulation, the doctor freed up my knee, told me to take it easy a few weeks, and if problems persist perhaps we could look at some surgery. Well, many years went by, but if I EVER replicate that low squat turning crossover motion ( aggressively like the basketball move) that bit of torn meniscus flops out again and locks up my knee... At that point I quickly reproduce what the doctor did to "pop" it back into place, and I'm good to go again.
All that said... the human body has a funny way of "guarding" an old injury, and at my age I feel like my right knee, right hip, right lower back, right side everything don't feel as good and strong as my left side... and I wonder if it goes back to that stupid knee injury. Then again, I'm sure there is some repetitive use injury from Rowing and other sports. I have found that multi set kettlebell workouts seem to help even things out a bit, and I hope dedicated exercise will keep the specter of a possible knee replacement down the line at bay....

Hi Jim, We are so sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with your knee over the years. It's not easy to deal with the lingering effects of an old injury, and we can understand how it might be concerning.
It's awesome to see that you've found ways to manage the situation by gently manipulating your knee when it locks up. It's true that targeted exercises can play a significant role in improving strength and mobility, potentially helping to alleviate some of the discomfort associated with past injuries.
We'd like to mention that we have a playlist dedicated to knee meniscus help that you might find beneficial. You can access it here:
      “Knee Meniscus Help”

Additionally, you may be a perfect candidate for our Knee Meniscus Recovery Program. The Knee Meniscus Recovery Program is designed to help people have the best chance of avoiding unnecessary surgery, injections, or having to rely on pain medications. This course guides people through exercises and stretches that target key body parts that have the greatest potential to prevent or help with meniscus tears or trouble after meniscus surgery. Dcotor if iI may inquire about my injuries. I have some meniscus injury and some fluid collection in both my knees. The doctor here recommended an injection. My brother has had this injection and he fully recovered, but I really don't wanna have this injection. Is there any other way of healing? My knees hurt when I play sports but are fine when I don;t strain them. They are fine for however long I don't strain them, i can walk and run and jump as fine as before but after a few hours of playing sports particularly jumping, they hurt again. I did some knee exercises before and they helped to some extent, but I don;t always have time so what should I do?

Hi so if your mesicus issue is from an injury you could still have these root imbalance issues that prevent you from healing ? Its been a 1.5 years since my injury getting a MRI in the new year but have reoccurring bouts of bursitis this could all be related to the root imbalance or both injury and imbalnce . Is this the correct understanding of my sitiruation? And your online course would address these issues for meniscus and bursitis ?

A few months ago I was fast pacing on soft beach sand carrying an esky & after a couple of kms i could barely walk and it was extremely painful, the pain lasted for a couple of weeks and i hobbled around the house. I could barely walk for a couple of weeks + after the incident.
After a few months the swelling has gone down 80% but whenever i do lots of walking it gets very sore again & my knee swells up...
I can't fully bend both knees & i think it's a meniscus problem on both of my knees, they are extremely painful when i reach 90% retraction 😂
I have to sit with my leg extended bc it will be very painful when I stand up, if my keg is extended while sitting it's much better
    Suggestions please 🙏

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  5 месяцев назад

Hi Rbbie, great question! Blood platelet injections have been shown to work However it is only a temporary fix. The root cause of the issue needs to be addressed or the issue will present itself again. In most cases, the root cause is a muscle imbalance stemming from the glutes.
It would be like if someone received bariatric surgery. They will lose weight but if they do not change their eating habits the weight will come back.
