Just wanted to put this out there for anybody doing the job, it will fight you every step of the way. I felt it was easier to get that little spring holding the air bag in, by taking of the steering column cowel and going from underneath. Much more visibility. And it definitely helped to have a second hand. It took me (relatively mechanically inclined two hours to get it off)
TWO HOURS and you're "mechanically inclined" ... Mine popped off in seconds, it's a nack of compressing the spring tab , down. I used a wedge trim removal tool (metal) , seconds!!!
Everything on these damned audio takes 2 hours to get off

Hey mate, is it possible to swap just the indicator stalk on one of these, or are they a fixed unit. Do you also know if any programming (VCDS) is needed if you swap the whole stalk assembly bit (same clock spring module)?
I used this to install the part yesterday, but on a Q3, it was very helpful, should you do a video on that car, please note there are two retaining tabs on the top side rear of the turn signal stalk, had to apply a bit of pressure to release it. Reassembly was pretty easy. Thanks again.

How do i get the clockspring to move 360 degrees? By pushing the red Button on the Side?
Great tutorial work perfectly for my Q5 (2013) needed to hunt down a creaking sound in the steering wheel/column only thing is once all put back the air bag warning light is staying on, do i need to "clear" this or will it clear over time or disconnect the battery over night (like my golf mk4)? I did need to start the car to turn the wheel without the airbag in to check for the creak.
Put on the obd11 see what comes up could be missed wire or needs clearing?
You've fukd the airbag then. It's only one yellow connector, have you broke it, wires broke, pins loose. Spray it all with terminal cleaner (spray tin)
Does anyone know how to align those clock springs in order to reinstall them?
Hey bro quick question so I retrofitted a new Audi b8.5 cf steering wheel and got a proper airbag too when I turn my car on the horn honks for 1-2 seconds then doesn’t honk if I try to push airbag down do yk what could fix this
Nice vid bro and close up if the back of the wheel helps. One q, the yellow airbag connector, are there any tabs that need to be pressed , pulled, squeezed , to get it off....can you show?

I have a 2020 model q5 120kW....a guy just activated the lane assist on it but can't be turned off because the headlight handle under the steering wheel does not have the switch on it. The question is, if I replace this handle ( i mean the complete part incl. cruse control and winshield wiper - I guess that original top clear round peace will fit on it)is there any coding necessary or it is pretty much just a plug and play?

I have Audi A4 2008 - 2 015 B8. The sterring ring you have taken out, does it also call "sterring column control unit module "? Because I have light on my sterring but no control working such as volume and etc.,but wipers and indicators are working.
In the video it is a slip ring or airbag clock spring. There is also steering module located on the steering column rod itself.
Hey Syed, did you find out what the problem was? I do have the exact same problem, no lighting on the steering wheel, none of the buttons are functioning, even the horn doesn't work, and I do have a yellow airbag light on the dash
@@Skirmis21 I changed the ring inside sterring but the light was still on. My horn was working. I think after you change the sterring module ring, you need to get it calibration. I have sold my audi.

Why cant my wheel rotate once battery is disconnected
It’s an electric steering system. You have to insert your key to disconnect the steering lock manually as he says in video.
@@joshgreenwald6413 i did exactly as the video in every step. Once disconnected the key will not allowing to rotate the wheel regardless of any scenario. But i got it on and figured out within 3 mins of this comment but thanks for your arrogance.
