Greetings from Greece Thak! Your work is amazing. Dont mind the purists, I get your rule of cool spirit in doing this project. If you care about the pronounciation its something like ''Kseefos'' in Greek its writen ΞΙΦΟΣ where Ξ=X. Ιn the bronze age the sword was also called ''Aor'' (no it was not radio friendly lol). The baldrick was called ''Aorteras''. We use the same word today for ''gunsling''. If you want a really full set of Greek panoply around the time of the Persian Wars (and earlier) then there are some more parts you could make. There was a time that hoplites with a really full set would look something like rennaisance knights in full harness only made of bronze. There is a part that protects your lower abdomen called ''mitra'', a part for the lower and a part for the upper right arm. Also parts for the thighs, the calfs and even parts formed to look like realistic feet that went over the sandals. All these extra parts were dropped later in favour of mobility and cost reduction. These were probably remnants of the earlier phalanx days where the aristocratic elite who called the shots expected to be engaged in looser formations and the occasional old fashioned champion duel. Btw As a metalhead I appreciate your taste in t-shirts
I rewacthed the whole series of you making a hoplite kit. I am awed. You have great skills. A suggestion for a new project, if I may: build a phyrgian helmet from Alexander's age. Greetings from Serbia and keep up the excellent work!
Great work as usual. The scabbard even looks worn which is cool. I like the low amount of detail because it looks like soldier's equipment, not a presentation piece. Well done. Love the channel.
very tempting to wear a white dress and have a saucy day at Thaks forge, then have the dress scripted "Handled by Thak" on it explaining all the paw prints :)
if you make the widest part of the scabbard 4 inches then you can still have the xipos shape, just make sure the waist of the scabbard is now 3 inches for the akwardness of having a over sized scabbard it looks cool when you pull the blade out and its like "how the f did you do that"

Badassary going on at the shop. Freakin awesome
Mate I love your no bull shit approach , And to be honest I know nothing about armour . So as far as I'm concerned it's perfect . Cheers . :)
Again, great stuff!
Great work, can’t wait to see the Speer
It's good to see you stepping out of the norm and making something for you and not people that watching you.
Amazing job as always, excited to see the whole set! Enjoy your work Thak
Well done! I don't think I've ever seen a scabbard made before, looks fantastic!
i cant wait for the complete set👌
great job!
Awesome build.
Damn good ...Can't wait for the full armour set 👍
Damn, beautiful piece! The colour is very close to what we call "ox blood" here in Sweden, so the bull motif definitely fits!
How much would it cost a guy to have one of those swords made?
Cool
Oh god, makes me want to start building armor.
Thats really awesome i also make different type or swords u can check in my playlist but my personal favt is gelfa sword

Can you puplish a pdf with the dimensions of that sword so we can try to make one?
Increíble trabajo 💪
Gracias
Thak, if the spear is the conclusion what about the belt/skirt thing the hoplites wore, I think its called a pteruge
That actually is the next video

5:30 deep inside we are just boys
Say it like - Gsiiphos
very nice .. but id say looks abit weird given the scabbard is a different colour then the helt and pummel but thats just my opinion
In context with the rest of the suit the different colors will blend with other pieces
@@ThakIronworks that makes a lot of since
Muy bonito sabe trabajar bien, pero se podria asear un poco...
I believe it's pronounced K-zeye-fos.
