Ah, the memories. I still have mine in storage, and it was my first Master grade I ever built. I also have an interesting story about a sister unit in my possession. My brother was at the local park when he discovered the 'wreckage' of two mobile suits that were hit with high velocity paintball rounds back in '02. We were both surprised anyone would use a gundam kit at the time for target practice, especially considering master grades at the time were $50 or more. So he scoured the area and came back with the remains. One of them was obviously the MG Ez-8, the other was a NG 1/100 Deathscythe Hell Custom. Sadly, Deathscythe was not salvageable beyond its head and an arm, the rest of its body was shattered to pieces; the price paid in a hollow kit. The Ez-8, on the other hand, was clearly battered and bruised, but survived its ordeal; some of its armor plating was damaged and its antenna snapped in half, but the inner frame was built to last. No extra hands, so it's cursed with the holding hands alone; but he was able to find its machine gun, shield, and equipment rack. Yes, I still have both machines, and I agree they don't hold a candle to current day MG kits; but they will always have a special place in my memories.
I was ABOUT to say, "I'm glad he didn't rank this- kits this old really shouldn't be compared to modern kits and it was really good for its time." "Oh yeah, by the way, its Bronze Tier." >:( I wonder how he'd react to an 80's era model kit that has no contemporary.

The 08TH MS Team MG kits were the first kits to have two things that have been brought over to modern kits. 1, inner frame detail in the arms that lead to a complete inner frame for the entire ms. (Before this, it was only in the legs.) 2, moving hips that allowed it to actually take a kneeling position that looked realistic and very functional. I'm pretty sure that until these kits came out, kits were only using 'space' designs that had no need to kneel because of the 360 degrees of movement space offered. With the 08th MS Team, it showed that ground battle could be just as exciting as the space battles and the kits should reflect that. Pull the shoulder joint out a little bit and you'll actually get a little more movement and you get a pose that has the both hands on the machine gun or beam rifle or 180mm cannon that only comes with the Ground Gundam and have them kneeling behind cover.

How do you keep reading my mind!? Few days I was looking for MG Gundam Seed Kits Boom you drop the Gundam Seed vids and Then today I'm looking for a Ez8 kit and there you are again lol
The one complaint I have with the MG from this series is the fact that the GM[G] requires you to buy the Ez-8 to get the backpack container. I fully agree that these at least need 1.5s (like the Dom and Re-GZ), but a 2.0 would be preferred. They could make so many kits based on it (Ground Gundam, Ez-8, GM Ground Type, Blue Destiny Units 1-3, the Slave Wraith Gundam, and so many more).
I don't know about everyone else here but I don't like the jumping around editing for the articulation that your starting to do. I like to see how you are handling the kit with your fingers. It shows how you get to that pose. Like the head up and down deal. I mean you can do whatever is easier for you and ill always watch and appreciate your videos. I just don't necessarily think this Is a positive change in the editing. Love you and have a great new-year 💛.
You're supposed to get more out of the knee bend but it seemed to be limited due to what I can only assume was an oversight. There's a piece in the knee you can snip off to get its full bend.
I own both the mg gm ground type and the gm 2.0 and I can say The 2.0 hands hold the weapons pretty well atleast better than these kits can. You're gonna have to 2 hand the beam rifle though.
This is due for a 2.0 like so many other early kits. A 2.0 of the EZ8 or any of its 8th Ms brethren would be something that align with bandai's goal. Reuse able and there are dozens of variants that share its parts.
I’ve always thought the proportions of this MG are kinda off. The chest seems too big for the limbs somehow. Doesn’t help that the EZ-8 is already a bit barrel-chested but it’s especially pronounced in this kit. Also very puzzling why Bandai never made a 2.0 of this and the Ground type. They have the 2.0 inner frame of the RX-78 and GM so you’d think the work is half done. Same goes for the Gouf Custom since there already is a Gouf 2.0...
I had a feeling that the HGUC ez8 is better than the old MG ez8. I can also say the same for the HGUC gouf custom, since i already built that kit months ago.
@@inuclearpickle8628 Nice! I got the hgac sandrock for Christmas, to go along with my hgac heavyarms. The gouf custom has a few places for you to paint. The thrusters on the lower part of the legs, the insides of the thrusters on the backside of the chest, the blade of the heat sword and the handle of the heat sword.
I'm curious; any interest in the Figure-Rise Standard Dragonball kits? Just picked up a few of'em and am pleasantly surprised. Not the greatest articulation, but the sculpts/moulds are superb. Very quick and enoyable build process, too.
Amusingly when the 08th Team MG's hit the market they were considered the NEXT big revolution in the line's evolving mechanics after the first batch iteration of MG's. Given their semi-inner frame legs and arms and articulation for the time being better than usual; was a big selling point. Of course twenty years later and the 08th Team MG's are outdated and among those, I too hope will get the 2.0 treatment.
I enjoy improving and adding pizazz to kits, and there are not many options when it comes to EZ8 kits, so didn't enjoy building this kit any less than something like the Nu Ver ka.
I mean, we aren't living in the past anymore so I think he's just reviewing it based on todays standards. 20 year old kit was decent 20 years ago, not now.

8th MS team is the closest Gundam has got to a "real life" interpretation of how mobile suits would actually function, being in a slow tank warfare style of combat. Gundam Battle Operation 2 in general has the same kind of feeling.
Yeah I agree and I liked how they were prone to break down and be cobbled together with whatever spare parts were available at the time, just like in real life.
@@B-A-L exactly, with so many moving parts they would never be able to take as much punishment as in the other shows. Gundam Ground Types get knocked down just like any other MS.
Given how old MG RX-79[G]Ez-8 Gundam Ez8 is, I do agree for fans Bandai should do an MG 2.0 release along with (of course) MG RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type. By modern practices, I'm sure we'd get an MG for RX-79Ez-8/HMC Gundam Ez8 High Mobility Custom and RX-79Ez-8/HAC Gundam Ez8 Heavy Armed Custom; both of which are from SD Gundam G Generation.
@xxnike629xx I remember, you mentioned that 08th MS Team, Unicorn and Narrative are the only UC series you ever watched... But then you posted a topic on GameFAQs' Gundam board titled "Universal Century is the worst"... One of the reasons on that troll topic of yours is that UC stories are so complicated... But it's your own fault anyway why you're confused lol Because you never watched the main entries in order. You started from Unicorn, at the twilight of the Early UC half. (And 08th MS team is just a side story) And it's a sure thing you'll never be able to properly explore the timeline. Since you have disdain on old stuffs (And you also mentioned there that the animation of the early UC stuffs are horrible, when in fact, they're very good during their time) You hate old stuffs so much. So I'll not be surprised if for example, you'll say that the AKIRA movie's animations and designs are crap. Or you say that the original Star Wars trilogy and Terminator 1 sucks because they're not made in the 90's and above. Another bads of you hating on old stuffs is that you'll miss out so much "Old but Gold" stuffs too. Sad *:'(* However, there's some good on you hating on oldies. It means that there'll no merchandise of 'em that'll be wasted by falling onto your *BOX* fort huehuehue PS Given that HGUC Xi Gundam is revealed to be *NOT* a P-Bandai, I do agree if you share your thoughts about it huehuehuehuehue
I did this one last year back to back with the RX-79[G] and hoo boy, yeah...Your certainly right about the leg gimmicks and the hands. As for it being Bronze tier? That might be a tiny bit harsh, because once it's together with a miniscule bit of extra effort (panel lines & decals(dry & sticker)) it does look rather nice for being an early MG, even in person. But you ARE right that it is indeed VERY dated and could use a 2.0 immediately lol.
It has the same inner frame, articulation, and most of the same weapons as the EZ-8. Only difference is that the Ground Gundam actually comes with the 180mm cannon instead of the bazooka that Mecha said was the cannon. Go a step further and get the GM ground type and you'll get a Missile launcher with individual missiles that come out.
Honestly I really don't think this has aged that poorly. It's definitely old, but with some TLC they can look excellent. Would love a 2.0 for this kit and the RX-79[G] Ground Type Gundam.
I honestly hope they make similar Gundam series to 08th MS. The main protagonist did have some plot armor but it was honestly was for 2 scenarios. On top of that you don't see them just individually plowing through enemy Mobile Suits either, every fight seems to be even and it comes down the 8th MS working well together. That and how the main protagonist isn't a god who can just out pilot anybody even established aces with little to no training. The love story was ok but I found 08th MS to be so good cause it was a fairly grounded Gundam show.
I hope Bandai will release 2.0 Ez8, Ground, Gouf Custom, the GP series, and maybe some from G Gundam series too. It will be cool to see they translate lots of surface detail which is GP series characteristic features into 2.0 MG kit. Maybe the Zephyrantes, the FB, Physalis or Stamen.
@@itsmepamz2477 it's okay to have hopes. Everyone has hopes too, including me. This was the first MG I ever built, it took me the better part of a day to build it.
Wow! What a unique aesthetic...! I really enjoy the colour scheme - blue and white looks so great next to one another.
How do you keep reading my mind!? Few days I was looking for MG Gundam Seed Kits Boom you drop the Gundam Seed vids and Then today I'm looking for a Ez8 kit and there you are again lol
The spooky thing is I have just bought the HG Ez8 and HG Seed Destiny kits for my first ever Gunpla kits!
Reviewer in year 2040: "PG Unleashed RX78-2 is the worst gunpla I've built!"
Agreed.
Just got this kit for Christmas happy you are reviewing it
Loving these throwback videos!! True test to buying anything how they hold up to the test of time. That’s my collection consists of about 6
My name is Ezraus...wait! Ez8?! Ayy!
Need an Ez8 that comes with damaged ripped off left arm and nub. This thing was at its most hype disabled. Need to capture that moment.
i still love this guy. it's my first MG and will love it forever!
bruh the butflap upside down looks like the pog face but shocked
so far we only have the HGUC kit as a better alternative, please give more love to the 8th MS team Bandai!
How is the fit of the machine gun in 2.0 hands? I'm asking because the GM 2.0 (white dingo ver) get all of this guy's weapons as extras.
I own both the mg gm ground type and the gm 2.0 and I can say The 2.0 hands hold the weapons pretty well atleast better than these kits can. You're gonna have to 2 hand the beam rifle though.
That is why I build both of the arms and legs at the same time for all of my kits.
Geara Doga review is gone. It's a good time to review the Geara Doga again
I had a feeling that the HGUC ez8 is better than the old MG ez8. I can also say the same for the HGUC gouf custom, since i already built that kit months ago.
I got the hg gouf custom for Christmas planning on building it next week
@@inuclearpickle8628 Nice! I got the hgac sandrock for Christmas, to go along with my hgac heavyarms. The gouf custom has a few places for you to paint. The thrusters on the lower part of the legs, the insides of the thrusters on the backside of the chest, the blade of the heat sword and the handle of the heat sword.
@@leorojas6390 I don’t have paint I have panel lining markers and flat top coat. I also have some metallic markers those do come in handy sometimes
Earth Federation Space Force
Yes lets put these stickers on the Ez 8 even though its a modified ground type gundam
I'm curious; any interest in the Figure-Rise Standard Dragonball kits? Just picked up a few of'em and am pleasantly surprised. Not the greatest articulation, but the sculpts/moulds are superb. Very quick and enoyable build process, too.
A 2.0 for the 08th series would be very nice and welcomed.
Yoooo my guy dalong is shouted out
Amusingly when the 08th Team MG's hit the market they were considered the NEXT big revolution in the line's evolving mechanics after the first batch iteration of MG's. Given their semi-inner frame legs and arms and articulation for the time being better than usual; was a big selling point. Of course twenty years later and the 08th Team MG's are outdated and among those, I too hope will get the 2.0 treatment.
Could never get the "saber holsters" to work, yet is my favorite Gundam (along with the RX-79G Land Type).
I enjoy improving and adding pizazz to kits, and there are not many options when it comes to EZ8 kits, so didn't enjoy building this kit any less than something like the Nu Ver ka.
*Builds 20 year old kit*
*Knocks points off for not being like modern kits*
I mean, we aren't living in the past anymore so I think he's just reviewing it based on todays standards. 20 year old kit was decent 20 years ago, not now.
@@Steven-kb7yy If he wasn't acting like it's a piece of crap then sure, no problem, you can compare but you can't act like it came out yesterday. Same goes for the Master Gundam review. Plus he applied the decals wrong.
@@Kabive776 Yeah I see what you mean, mans never promised an objective review. At least he's entertaining😅
I just finished watch the 08th MS team yesterday and now you review the kit, is it coincident or what!
I just watched the 08th MS Team over Christmas but it's no coincidence for me because I just ordered a HG Ez8 and was looking through RUclips for a review lol
Don't forget one of the main selling points if this kit was that it could kneel.
KNEEL...
Gundam Ground Types get knocked down just like any other MS.
this is one of those rare kits thats basicly trash, but i still love it.
But it's your own fault anyway why you're confused lol
Because you never watched the main entries in order. You started from Unicorn, at the twilight of the Early UC half.
(And 08th MS team is just a side story)
And it's a sure thing you'll never be able to properly explore the timeline. Since you have disdain on old stuffs
(And you also mentioned there that the animation of the early UC stuffs are horrible, when in fact, they're very good during their time)
You hate old stuffs so much.
Sad *:'(*
However, there's some good on you hating on oldies. It means that there'll no merchandise of 'em that'll be wasted by falling onto your *BOX* fort huehuehue
PS Given that HGUC Xi Gundam is revealed to be *NOT* a P-Bandai, I do agree if you share your thoughts about it huehuehuehuehue
But bandai would rather do recolors for premium instead of making 2.0 frames for kits people actually want.
This was my first mg. I have two mg rx-78 ver 3 and keep thinking I will modify them into the ez8 and the rx78-4 as I have that old mg as well
Seeing this now, can You also do a Review of MG Gundam Ground Type?
I wanted to buy it for a while now
It has the same inner frame, articulation, and most of the same weapons as the EZ-8.
I'd want one just for making a sweet diorama with battle damage. Love me some 08th ms team.
Should there be a new ranking system for these really old kits? Genuine question of mine.
Yes
Which is the true flagship Gundam of 08th MS Team?
Gundam Ez-8
Gundam Ground Type
I'd better not hear anything about RG Zeta or MG Ball
Ez-8 forever man.
Mecha do be pumping videos out every day now
Appreciate on what you have even it's not Good, as a modeler, I know there's some drawbacks, but at least you have it.
Fuck my choices are watching this review or watching Jobbys stream about wave 1 of Kingdom Tranformers toys
Old jobby is better
@@GojiraFan-in9oo Okay I didnt really ask. But whatever floats your boats.
We badly need a MG ver 2.0 of this kit
I never really get the second leg syndrome because I always build both legs simultaneously.
I own it, it's basically a statue, still love it
I hope Bandai will release 2.0 Ez8, Ground, Gouf Custom, the GP series, and maybe some from G Gundam series too.
It will be cool to see they translate lots of surface detail which is GP series characteristic features into 2.0 MG kit. Maybe the Zephyrantes, the FB, Physalis or Stamen.
That's too big of a challenge given Bandai only puts up 7-6 master grades per year for now, don't get your hopes too high lol
@@paudsnarwhal2148 er... am I mention "as soon as possible" or "next year" on my comment on the top?
It is okay to have some hope, am I right?
@@itsmepamz2477 it's okay to have hopes. Everyone has hopes too, including me. But we'll have to be patient and wait, even for 10 years is not enough for Bandai to make all of those in MG form.
there are RGs and HGs growing and trying to attract builders newcomers. Gunpla isn't just about Master Grades, there are many grades to choose from. If we want to be hopeful, Bandai would grant us those suits in either RG or HG form.
@@paudsnarwhal2148 Yes, gunpla isn't about Master Grade. But I prefer Master Grade than the others. Except for some big RG.
This design looks like an MG version of the Alto from the 30mm kit and I wouldn't mind having one actually
I love the 08th MS Team. Glad to see this.
That is the old hands in the era of RX79 and old GMs...iirc they still use it up to MG Nemo?
We need:
- RG 8th MS Team kits
- MGEX 8th MS Team kits
- PG Unleashed 8th MS TEam kits
I got this 5 years ago and had modified its weapon and hand so it got pegs now and can hold weapons no prob i wish that bandai make a 2.0 of this kit
