I want to find someone who loves me as much as Randy Pobst loves R tires
This made me laugh, LOL.
you need someone that knows their hoosiers
BOOM BOOM BOOM
So 1 session of hard loving and then the magic is gone and he/she moves on?
Oh don't be so assy!
Randy Pobst's enthusiasm for cars and in general always makes me smile
It’s so genuine. I was fortunate enough to meet him in real life and I can honestly say this is the exact same person on screen as real life.
Kel Varnsen Thx, I love this stuff. Live it. Breathe it. Shutdown has been tough, no tracks. Coming back YAY.
You mean like he smiled when he hotlapped the GT350R?
He’s a icon. Period.
Tires***
Randy is a national treasure.
For sure
He really is! I'm trying to get the word out about his RUclips channel. I'd love some help sharing the channel and the videos. Let's get him to 100k subscribers, and then onwards! 😁🤙
Couldn't agree more. I met Randy a few years ago and he's such a nice guy and a car guy through and through.
I'm a simple man. I see Randy Pobst, I click.
Randy and Gale Banks need to do a collaboration together
The 5 dislikes couldn't get the R tires.
They’re protesting
It’s now 8, so they're either owners of "Assy" Corvettes or FORMER Porsche race setup specialists.
Or they got the 991.1 GT cars
@@realmadspeed1785 Not cheater if it's stock and street legal...
someone should hack youtube and find all th4e dislikers
I have tried many times to love Porsche cars but never been very successful. A pastel orange GT2 RS, though, could really do it for me. Come on...depreciation!
I agree mate. Porsche smorsche. The 1974 ford RS2000 is where it’s at 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Like Savage Garage’ GT2 RS? When is Randy going to be on an episode btw?
And does everyone else read Ed’s comment in his voice? Haha. G’day from Australia fellas!
I built one for the sake of doing so... $$$
Well you like what you like.... love your videos!
Title should be "Randy Pobst on Importance of Tires."
I was taught early on that tires are the most underrated item on a vehicle. So thankful I learned that lesson back then.
Second best lesson I learned was to not buy Goodyear... but that was a much more expensive lesson. 🤣😢
The most underrated item is the driver mod, don’t blame the tire when you crash
Most drivers get excited about power and acceleration. Randy is deep into brake feel, balance and grip. He's on another level.
Power and acceleration don't matter if the car has horrible grip, steering, weight, and overall balance.
I'm in the same boat as Randy. Cars with too much power while being uncontrollable is trash.
Power and acceleration won't give you much of a lap time if you can't slow or turn the car..
Randy is awesome. I had the honor of losing to him some years ago when he made a cameo at a local ETR autocross. He was good enough to jump in a friends stock-ish Legacy GT (IIRC) and proceed to finish top 10 (raw time) in a field full of some then-current national contenders.... but was humble enough to still take a work assignment at a rainy event.
Lap of the World i love my legacyGT
Lap of the World Great memory, thx
When I first saw Randy Pobst many years ago, my first thought was who is this cocky, know it all. I eventually found out that he wasn't cocky at all, he really could drive, and he did know it all when it came to the cars he drove!
Thank you for the story Randy, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you to Ed & crew for having Randy on Vinwiki for me to watch!
Thanks, Robert, just doing my thing
@@randypobstofficial, Thanks for the reply Randy. I love watching you drive. Take care, be safe, and healthy!
"Corvette's are assy" perfect way to describe the new vette
Why
@@alecwhatshisname5170 it is the new rage. Band wagonning onto something new and different.
@@FXIIBeaver no. The majority of the car is behind you.
Similar to where your ass is on the body.
Nicholas Wilson No he means corvette suffering from oversteer. Not good. Not confidence inspiring. He stated previous 911 GT cars were also ‘assy’.
The C8 will not age well
Alternative intro- "Soft as a baby's butt..and grippy! Whuohahahgagahahaha......" Vinwiki music starts playing.
If Randy Pobst started his own yt channel, he'd have 1M subs by the end of the week
He did. He's at less than 4k
@@rhatala27 doh!
@@rhatala27 then we need to get the word out because I didn't know he had his own Channel.
@@rhatala27 To be fair, he only started posting videos about 2 months ago.
Make that 20K, movin' on up, folks! Thanks, Carl. We're workin on it. Don't miss Pikes Peak Hero to Zero to Team Comeback Kid
"380 foot pound of torque isnt shit" - RANDY MAN
Brilliant little video. "They [Porsche] must be doing something right!"
Love the Pobst
This guy could read to me car-themed bedtime stories, and I'd sleep like a baby.
Randy thank you for hot lapping my car! It was an honor sir! 🥰😍🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️
I agree Randy. That amount of torque is terrible for a track car. My aunt has a Chevy Sedan that puts down 512 torque stock. Hell an old 2008 Chevy Malibu has 300 pound feet
THAT Hennessey? Like twin-turbo 1000 hp Hennessey? Well then, YOU understand torque 👍👍👍
I don't believe in reincarnation but I am still interested in what I would have to do right in life to come back as Randy Pobst.
Being very good to cars would be a start.
P WrightisRight Careful what you wish for 😆
Randy was a racecar in a former life.
I wish I could get as excited about anything as Randy gets about downforce being in the right place.
As if racecar setup part of the video wasn't the best part. The whole school of thought behind why new racecar drivers like twitchy cars is something only someone with years of experience and insider knowledge could tell you. By far one of the best intervies on this channel because of these few minutes alone
When your life and this $500K car depend on it, you KNOW it, Bro 😁
I don't think it's necessarily downforce, it's aerodynamic pressure. Overall drag on the car. Same reason you have fins on the back of a dart. They aren't creating downforce, they're for adding drag to the back to keep the rear wanting to trail the nose. Makes sense you'd want that on a car. Even if you have no downforce, if you can get more drag on the rear then it'll naturally want to point straight.
*Randy is such a wholesome guy...*
So true he is exactly like this in real life. So genuine and wholesome. I wish we had more people like him.
Mr. Pobst a true Gentleman never to busy to talk to an average joe. I never felt as though i was being talk down to thank you Sir.
Agreed! I had a chance to meet Randy at PRI 2017, talked about modifying Volvos, and showed him a few pictures of a Volvo 740 wagon with a Twin Turbo LS V8 my friend was building. He lit up with excitement wanting to know everything to the point he started introducing me to others saying this guy knows what's up! I've never felt embraced by a public figure that I look up to, so much so that it was feeling like we switched roles. Truly a gem of a person he is :)
I once message him on Facebook a few years ago. We chatted for like an hour!
Humza Imran more info on the 740 plz
Randy is the man, really enjoy his reviews
Love Randy Pobst. He's so humble and knowledgeable. Miss the times with him and Johnny and Jason in Head2Head videos.
"Corvettes are assey" Lol. Best line.
"Yeah it revs but where's the beef?" was pretty damn good also.
ngl, I could listen to Randy talk about car stuff all day long. Suspension, tires, brakes, aerodynamics, etc.
Every car Randy talks about sounds like it's the first supercar hes ever driven, whether his Volvo or a GT2RS. His excitement is palpable and infectious
I’m 56. I want to be just like Randy when I grow up.
@@kanalyoutube6301 Uhh... Where did you get your info from? Randy is 63...
Randy is my all-time favorite pro driver. He just gets it... He deals in the high end stuff but can talk to the full range of buyers, drivers, enthusiasts, and fans... His joy is contagious.
We should all aspire to Randy's level of love for what we do in life. Just to hear him talk about the lack of torque and how his voice raised in volume is something special.
This man loves, breathes, smells, tastes and eats cars. Such passion is admirable.
This chum turns into a complete chap when he speaks about cars.
The passion and fire is still there
I honestly don’t think anyone on this earth is as good with production road cars as Randy Pobst is
One of the best car-related videos I’ve ever seen. Incredibly entertaining and interesting. Gotta’ love RP! Thanks!
Randy is my religion. Its impossible to not love this guy!
Franco Pettine Luv U 2 Franco thx
Let's make him the Pope of car culture. Pope Randy Pobst the first
Randy gives honest reviews with no sugar coating due to his natural feel for any car he gets in too.
So much knowledge on tires alone. Great to hear all the passion too.
It's a pleasure to listen this guy a talk from his heart, I like the sentiment on the go cart tuning philosophy. I can only imagine the compounding effect of go cart driver input and the kind nurburgring tuning Jeremy Clarkson always spoke against, I bet that could ruin a good car in a hurry.
Randy needs a go in the GT2RS MR
I’d love to see that!
Especially since the same development driver was the one who set that car up as well. If you've seen Chris Harris' video on the MR where he talks to Lars Kern about it... yeah, I bet Randy would have a religious experience in that thing.
Pobst is amazing. What a great job he's got.
Saw the Xtreme Xperiences commercials and had to comment. I just did the Huracan experience last weekend and it was fantastic all around. Definitely worth the money. They do a superb job.
AWESOME video! I adored listening to Randy explain his views and the science behind the cars. Please, keep this up! Thanks.
Randy is a legend, he sounds like a surfer version of Bill Nye
Randy Pobst is like the Bill Nye of cars and Bill Nye is the Randy Pobst of since 🤔
Had the pleasure of meeting Randy when I was racing a gt3 at the track. What a genuine, humble, passionate guy. Seriously. Always enthusiastic, knowledgeable, damn good at what he does, and always willing to talk with, and help others. Great guy.
Caught up with Randy years ago at the top optima challenge in pahrup nv. He was there with his wife and took 10 minutes to just chat cars and tracking them with us and giving us some pointers on getting the most out of our C5 Z06. Just a cool guy!
excellent driver, and maybe even better storytteller.. great job Randy
randy is a legend, one of the best when reviewing sports super hyper cars..he and steve sutcliffe from the uk
That exactly explains why when I modded my 997.GT3.mk1 and replaced the OE LSD with a Guard 50:80 LSD, swapped out the OE Engine mounts for much firmer mounts, removed the rubber from all the rear suspension, and finally installed the RS wing and always ran it at full attack angle, that the car became massively faster and easier to drive at the limit - the car's ass would be glued to the road on entry, even with massive trail-braking and you could trust the rear end to be extremely predictable
Well done, Paul.
The way Randy talks about tires, racing and cars just makes me smile. Such passion about what he does
Always love the stories from Randy. The man has so much passion for what he does and that always brings a smile to my face. Cheers!
"Corvettes are assy." - Randy Pobst. That needs to be a shirt. In all seriousness, I love how much joy and passion you still have for this, after doing it for so long. You're still giggling about it. Love it, man!
More Randy please. Love all the videos daily. Thanks Ed.👍
Randy is awesome! Enjoyed listening to his experience with the newest Porsche GT cars!
He's the reason a GT2 is my absolute dream car. Love watching this gentleman drive
I wish I had Randy as my grandad. The amount of stories he could tell.
1:34 is the best impression of bubbles from trailer park boys I've ever heard
The Legend, Randy Pobst!
One of my favorite drivers and one of my dream cars The mighty GT3RS Randy seems like the kind of Cat who is super cool and approachable
I drove a GT3 RS in Las Vegas at SpeedVegas, and it was a blast. The seat wrapped around your torso and even with regular seat belts you didn’t move! Totally enjoyable!
More Randy.......one of the most humble, best drivers who is able to communicate what the car is doing and why. Glad he is a local boy......to you.
Randy!!! still one of my favorite enthusiasts.
my 89 305 TBI camaro has a little over 300 torque, horsepower is missing though
The car setup talk towards the end of the video was absolutely glorious. Nice to have Pobst talk about things that only someone with his experience could talk about
While I am not a fan of most organized racing, I love hearing the drivers talk about driving. And yes it is all about the tires.
I love this guy's insight as to different manufacturers and their characteristics and WHY they're set up that way.
We need to protect this man at all costs! Seeing the way his face lights up over his passion for these cars is so awesome! You’re the man Randy! 🙌🏻
my hero has a hero? That's unpossible!
I did Xtreme Xperience and it completely changed the way I think about speed on the track. I drove a Ferrari 488 @ M1 concourse in Pontiac this past sunday. The car was the fastest thing I've ever driven yet it was easy. When floored, the 660hp launched the 3000 lbs. car like a rocket but it was dead straight and not twitchy at all. So I completely agree with Randy. You need a planted rear end to go fast on a circuit. What I learned was that being fast on track is all about confidence in suspension and braking. The 488 had outstanding brake performance. Maintaining as much speed as possiple through the corners is how you get the best lap times. The 488 went exactly where I pointed it each time. Xtreme Xperience was life changing for me. There is no better motivation for a car guy to become rich, than to drive a high end sports car quickly around the track. Now me and the old lady are saving up to buy a C8 next year. (Dont make prancing horse money....yet😉) Thank you Xtreme Xperience.....I'm now ruined🤣🤣🤣🤣
By next year the C8 Z06 might be nearly as fast as a 488. C8 is perfect target.
“Except park them in my garage”
LOVE RANDY!!
This man is ace.
The way his eyes light up, and voice changes, when he gets enthusiastic about something, is just a joy to watch.
Think Randy could be the one of the top guests you’ve had on. Thanks for the great video again guys x
Someone needs to pick him up. Too much raw talent and great commentating review for the minimum time Motortrend portrays of him.
Randy Sir, As I was one of the first employees at Road Atlanta. I was a junior in South High School up the road from Road Atlanta. Dave Sloyer, Earl Walker and Art Montgomery came to my High School looking for some strapping young men to work for the summer. i.e. Labor/ tree removal etal. I as a Racing fanatic at my young age. I was the first to volunteer! As my neighbor had a dirt track race car. I never missed a race with him. I rode in the back of the pick-up truck that towed the race car. Sloyer stated that anyone who wanted to stay could work for Road Atlanta. hell Yeah!! I'm in !! I ended up as the Head of parking security!! I was in HEAVEN!! I worked there for years. I was blessed to meet all the famous drivers in that era. OH! how I loved the "heavies: Peter Revson etal. I remember when the Porsche 908 won the race. I also remember Tony Dean winning in the first years. I remember so many of the Drivers back in that era. Sadly, you came to Road Atlanta years later. I would love to meet you Sir. Maybe, we can meet at a PCA Club race in the future.. Also, I can turn some hot laps on that track myself!! As I did in my old 914-6 back in the early '70's.. I used to scare the crap out of my passengers i.e. old girl friends .. OH!! the glory days~~ LOL..
I friggen love this guy he’s so right
This guy is an absolute legend. I love when he comes on to tell a story
What a wonderful job he has! I would love to just hang out with him for a few days! His attitude toward cars is great. 👍👍
Awesome video and incredibly insightful. Really interesting comments about the balance of the cars & the kart handling bias.
Would love to see the GT2RS MR lap that track. Might bear the normal GT2RS. Esp with the bigger wing and fan rims.
This man is a gem of a human being. I was fortunate enough to meet him at willow springs when they were recording episodes for motortrend and he took me for a drive around the track and he was able to have full conversations with me without hesitation but still go round the track at decently high speeds (I have no clue at what percent he was driving at) but i learned so much in the couple of laps I was in the car. Unfortunately I didn’t get to shake his hand because he felt sick that day but man I wish I could have. What a personality and great driver. I hope to meet him again some day.
Wow! Random recommendation in my feed turns out to be a GT2RS video. I was lucky enough to have a ride in the GT2RS driven by none other than Randy when they came out to Vandenberg AFB for World’s Greatest Drag Race.
I’m not a youngster but you make me wish I had had a grandpa when I was a kid. Your laugh lowers my blood pressure... swear! I’m 46 but it makes me feel like I’m 12. Keep up the chuckles, it’ll probably keep you young!
Randy is one of the best things on RUclips. Sometimes he actually replies to his videos. What a great enthusiastic man
He does? Naaahhhhhhh. Heehee. Thanks The Don!
When Randy speaks, the world 🌍 listens.
Can we get an hour with Randy? 💯🏁
Randy is a living legend known at the biggest and smallest of tracks. This man bleeds oil !!! His stories need to be documented for further generations. I feel that strongly about Randy's race knowledge, and performance. His driving skills are stellar, and he's got the trophies to prove it.
I love Randy! Such a good story teller!
Fascinating details!
I need to learn my Hoosiers. I owe that to Randy.
Randy drives million dollar cars like I slide my big wheel around Awsome
What kind of tires do pirates put on their Porsche GT2's?

I hit the like button, but I'm not happy about it.
I could list to this MAN. EVERY DAY. talk about a guy ya wanna meet. Love Randy videos.
Great story Randy !!
I love when he gets so excited just thinking about the cars
We need more Randy Pobst!
his excitement about tires is amazing
The GT3RS was just as fast as the GT2RS until the back straight. And then the GT2RS pulled like 2s in that one straight.
Which is insanely impressive for the gt3rs imo

it about time, a long overdue story time with Randy Pobst 😎
Just started watching and listening to Randy Pobst and boy do I like him. He's very passionate and expressive
Again, Randy Pobst is the Dana Carvey of racing. Too much fun listening, MORE Pobst!
Randy is the best! More racecar driver stories please, including maybe some of mine 🙃
"A great handling car practically drives itself" well said.
What makes him so great is that... Because he's such an incredible driver... He doesn't have to prove himself as such. He just is. Doesn't need to be cocky and pretentious even though he has all the right to be. But just loves what he does and is more than willing to talk with people and enjoy the experience. Truly one of the great race car drivers of our time 👍🏻
You gotta Love Randy’s enthusiasm and knowledge!😊
